The biggest issue with this particular title is that there are a lot of spells in it. This was an audiobook for me from Audible, which did not help with this particular reading. It has a lot of interesting information, but I definitely would recommend reading this and not listening to it. There are too many things you would need to go back to for it to be a good fit for an audiobook useful tool for your craft.
This also leans heavily into a lot of Wiccan belief systems, so if you are looking for something a bit more general in nature this is not that. It also has a lot of what feels like personal belief systems that may not fit with a larger audience with their own truths. There are also some things that may be a bit cringe, like when the author discusses the usage of quartz crystals in modern medicine. I still overall find the book to be good for a very basic starting place, which is where I am at. I would not say this leads to a solid foundation though. It just allows you to see one perspective of modern witchcraft, which is exactly where I am at with the craft, thus I enjoyed it.
This book is very heavy on WICCA beliefs, and while I am a witch, I am not Wiccan. But overall, I did find the book quite enjoyable and even tried out a few of the spells for health and protection with some success. The author did a good job with there research and states clearly when it is their beliefs and when it is a fact. I enjoyed the book and I would recommend it to anyone interested in the Wicca religion or just wants to add a little ceremony to their practice.
What started as a reasonable, if patronising, beginner book began to annoy me about a third of the way through. A GLARING error discussing the difference between a pentagram and a pentacle made me give up on the book. If you’re a true beginner, there are dozens of more accurate and less fairytale books out there. Avoid this
I gave up after the B's about cancer treatment only working because radiation goes through quartz crystals. There is a lot of misinformation in this book and I would have given it a lower rating then 1 star if possible.
