So Jax caught his girlfriend screwing his brother in his family home, found out they’ve been at it for over a year, they don’t apologize or feel any remorse, his brother moves the slut in, he is subject to hearing them have loud sex every night since his room is next door, they criticize and demean him every chance they get, and his father berates him for being weak and refusing to “get over it.”
And we don’t even get a confrontation or some kind of closure. His brother and ex-whore should be on milk cartons because they’re missing and their bodies aren’t found.
I’m ecstatic that Jax found love and happiness with a worthy woman who cherishes him and treats him right. I’m even happier that he stood up to her father, but where was his backbone when faced with his home situation?
The story had good bones, but there was a little cheating on the part of the author. Ms. Loren glossed over Jax's leaving home. There was absolutely no mention whatsoever about his family; especially, after the build-up with the behavior of his family and specifically the ugliness of his father, that should have been presented with a bow. That lost a star. The rest was a bit rushed and not fleshed out. I would have thought this an earlier work, but for the date of publication. Another star lost.
This was a fast pace love story. I liked the two characters and their chemistry. The story was a quick read so everything happened fast. I do wish we could've read what happened with his family when they found out he was leaving though.
I've had this book in my queue for almost 6 months. During a reading group, it was recommended. So I decided to end 2023 with this book. And OMG I can't believe I didn't read this book before now. What was I thinking? 🤦🏾♀️ This book was fire!! 🔥🔥🔥!!
L. Loren has never disappointed me with any of her books. And she didn't this time either. Jax needed a new start away from his family and Josey needed a new start away from her controlling father. With Josey opening the Bohemian Outlaw ranch these two would embark on a new journey of love, happiness, success, and independence. I loved how these two gravitated towards each other without regret or hesitation. And that epilogue was AMAZING!! I'm so glad this book was recommended. I would've missed out on an awesome story. I highly recommend this book as well. It's a fabulous read!
Both Josey and Jax worked to please families that did not see or truly appreciate them. They said enough to their families and came together to improve their satisfaction in all facets of life. Their love story is beautiful and sweet. More character development on Jaxon's side of the family, especially what happened with his backstabbing brother and the ex when they didnt have Jaxon to walk all over anymore would have been the great finisher for the book.
This is a great read! Josey is a woman not satisfied with working in corporate America and Jaxson is a man who wants to get away from his brother and ex girlfriend who betrayed him. Jaxson and Josey have instant chemistry and that's what makes it a great read. I highly recommend this read!
This was a sweet short read, I am glad Josey and Jaxon stood up for themselves and found their HEA. Definitely looking forward to the next book in this Outlaw series!
For a quick read. The author managed to build a story in a few pages. The only ne thing I missed was the scene between Jax and his family when he told them he was leaving.
The book was good. There were an except cast of characters. Would have loved Melanie - she sounds like a good friend to have. Loved that Jennifer showed that she was a good sister after all. Loved Jax.However the story was not complete. What happened to Max famiky? How did his family reacts when he left? What happened to the ranch with Brody alone to tantrum the ranch? Did his parents come to their senses like Mr Johnson . This felt like a book half written book.
This was a good book about Josey and Jaxon. After her friend dies, she realizes she must follow her dreams in order to be happy. When she interviewed Jax, she knew he was the right fit for the job and her life.
I felt as if I read this story before. I don't know when it came out but if I had read it I forgot to do an review. The storyline was good and I loved the main characters and hope there's more to the story.
Both Josie and Jaxson had problematic families that did not take their needs as an individual in the family seriously and it both revolved around the fathers. They both struck out on their own to live their lives according to the goals they set for themselves or what their fathers needed them to do. Neither one of them expected to find their soulmate when Jaxson came for an interview at the Bohemian Outlaw when they both laid eyes on each. It was on and popping with them in an instant. Too fast for my taste. Josie's father was not having it but Jaxson kept his cool and won him over.
Josie's father was a selfish controlling man who used his love for his daughters as a tool to control them, especially Josey, not so much as her sister as she had him wrapped around her fingers and was the only one to make him see the error of his ways.
This was a quick read but I would have loved to have read how Jaxson's family, especially his father and brother reacted to his new life. Josie's father was a prick whose company reflected his personality. Why didn't Josie take the time to really tell her father about his insensitive company?
FAVORITE QUOTE “No sir, that’s not what I meant at all. When I say she makes me feel like a man, I mean the way she treats me. The way she looks at me like I wear a cape. The way I feel when she smiles up at me, I have never felt before. I love her soul!”

If a book two is coming it should have had a to be continued tag because I feel like I just fell off a cliff. A lot of the scenes were unnecessary in the book because they go nowhere She accepted a proposal to someone she knew for less than 2 full months? Her dad randomly about to hit her? And her sisters speech about favoritism that’s solved with a hug he never gave? It has a lot of beautiful potential and that’s why I’m so upset about the story as a whole. There is nothing there! You made me care about people and then skipped the conflict and character development to have the ending on the very next page basically? How old is she and how are they able to keep her money from her?
Josey and Jax had so much to overcome individually.
Josey had to get past a disapproving father to live her dream.
Jax had to move past an unappreciative family, and horrendous brother and ex.
They found each other and their dreams merged. Not only to live the life they wanted, but also to find someone to love and care for.
They brought their strengths together and made a wonderful life for themselves.
I loved this book. It was a fast read and pulled you into their story. I also liked they were both strong people without the obligatory “weak” misunderstandings that pass for reason to keep the couple apart.
Very good book by L. Loren. In her description of the Inn, everything from the inn to the landscape, the hiking trails and the waterfall was so vivid that I was able to see it in my minds eye. Josey’s dad, Jeffery Johnson, treated Josey and Jen differently. Jen was the princess and got everything she wanted whereas Josey was like an outcast. It was the same with the Morgan’s: Brody couldn’t do anything wrong and Jaxon couldn’t do anything to please his father. In the end Jax won Mr. Johnson’s respect because he stood up to him and for Josey.
Josey loves the ranch life her grandpa showed her the ranch life. Her dad did not like that he wanted her to work at his company which she did until her friend collapses at work and tell her to follow her dream. After her friend's death, she buys a ranch. Then meets Jack a guy who is fighting his own demons of his Father favoring his older cheating brother (Brody) who stole his girlfriend (Olivia) Jack catches them having sex they fight and he breaks up with her. To make matters worst his dad lets her move into the family home. Jack knows he has to get out of there and finds the Bohemian Ranch. I will not spoil the rest of the book I love it and I can't wait for book two. 5 Stars
This was a good book!!! Josey Johnson had a dream to one day own her own ranch and after a tragedy she decides to follow her dreams despite the push back from her father. Jaxon Morgan worked hard on his family's farm for years but after a heartbreaking betrayal he decides that it's time to strike out on his own. After answering a help wanted add in a magazine, he makes the move to The Bohemian Outlaw Ranch where he encounters Josey. Their connection is immediate and beautiful to watch unfold. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!!!
Although this was a great read, there was spot of story lines left out that would have made it even better. What happened with Ray and what happened at Tina's BBQ. How did K Jax family respond to him leaving. Please reconsider a rewrite with more in depth story of Jaxon family members response.
This 1st book in this series started off with a bang can't wait for the rest of the series. Great writing. Felt like I could have bitch slapped the Dad he was a piece of work. But at the end he saw the error of his ways. Love it.
Loved the name, it makes you start to think trying to imagine exactly what type of story this will be. The family conflict they both endured and were still positive made for and incredible story.
I really did enjoy this story even though things happen really fast and there were a lot of unanswered questions, questions that I hope will be answered in book 2. Can't wait for the next one....
I will review up until 60%, where I stopped. I read Bohemian Outlaw because I was interested in reading the Christmas story. The romance between Josey and Jax was very much off-page. There were things left out that should've been addressed, such as Jax leaving his family. We get this build-up of drama when Jax and his weirdo family are introduced. There is this heavy emphasis on how Jax is essential to his family's ranch and does all the work. It seriously sounded like his family had their foot on his neck, only for him to return after his weekend staying at the Inn, and when we see him again, he's already in North Carolina after ten days. There was a missed opportunity here. Also, I found Jax to be spineless, and he gave "I know who to try it with." He wouldn't buck up to his brother, who gratuitously sleeps with Jax's ex-girlfriend in the next room (headboard banging against Jax's wall and all), but he had all the smoke for Ray, the part-time ranch hand.
Josey's character was all over the place, and she made decisions that didn't seem realistic at all for a young, single woman. I'm no prude, but I thought it was very peculiar that she had no plans to sleep in the main house but instead intended on sharing the cottage with a strange man she didn't know. One moment, she'd tell Jax that she wanted to keep it professional and that she needed to write an employee manual for her three employees, and in the next paragraph, she's making out with him. I rolled my eyes and stopped reading after he returned to the inn when he accepted the job and she fixed him breakfast. He told her that she didn't have to serve him, and Josey went all "my man, my man, my man." Even Jax was confused.
I couldn't make heads or tails of these characters, and any "romance" between these two over a (two-week?) time frame was off-page.
No respect for personal boundaries or personal space!
None of these characters seemed to have any respect for others personal boundaries or personal space. Jax at one point did what I would do if any of these people behaved with me as they did in this book, ignored the person. This was not funny or cute, but shows a complete disregard for personal space and a lack of good manners.
I wanted to like this story a lot more but it felt rushed. Too many unanswered questions. Jax and his family issues, mainly his brother. Josey and her family issues, mainly her sister . The characters themselves were ok but I think Jax moved so fast. Still I’m a sucker for a happily ever after. The narration was ok but I think if it had been a duet it could have enhanced the story a lot.
I was fine with the book not revisiting Jax's family. I just wish that there was more build-up to the romance and a bit more drama with Josie building up her ranch and dealing with her employees. The dialogue was also a bit cheesy for me, and Jax getting bent out of shape because he had to take a routine drug test before working was a red flag. Run Josie!
Josey was working a job she didn't like. It took her friend's death to really motivate her to leave. Jaxon's girlfriend was two timing him. So he was looking for a change. Sparks fly on the Bohemian Ranch. I loved Josey and Jaxon!! Bohemian Outlaw was definitely an entertaining story with some laugh out loud moments. And I recommend you read it!!
