Thoughts I enjoyed the cosy small town vibes - super easy to follow, if you're in the mood for a no brain power required short mystery, this series is for you
Plot Summary Delaney Powers thought inheriting her grandmother’s tea room might be the fresh start she desperately needed. Leaving behind heartbreak and hardship in New York, she arrives in Vermont ready to turn the crumbling Victorian house into a thriving business once more. Then a body is found in the parlour. Overnight, Delaney is no longer seen as the hopeful newcomer but as the prime suspect. To prove her innocence, she must uncover the truth hidden in this quiet village—before her second chance at life ends in ruin.
This was an easy read, but some parts didn't add up. I thought the culprit was a surprise and so was the reason, though the full reason wasn't revealed...unless I missed it. I do think I'll read the next book to see if things get better and because I kind of like Laney and a few other characters.
First book in what promises to be an entertaining series. There are your typical small town characters who are very friendly. The writing is excellent and the storyline is engaging. The mystery is well plotted with many secrets revealed. It's a quick read if you want to curl up with a cup of tea and finish it in one session.
Her grandma left her house to her and she is determined to reopen the tea shop on the first floor. But someone left the murdered mayors body in the tearoom and she needs to find out who did it.
The only mystery here is how this book made it to print. Dreadful writing, poorly developed characters, and a lack of plot continuity made it painful to read. The resolution is slap-dash making the ending feel rushed and incomplete. Not really worthy of even one star
Not my first choice, but didn't see the killer coming!
I like cozy mysteries, I am sure that I will read other mystery novels at somepoint but currently I am happy in my own little bubble. Having said that, I am honestly not sure how I feel about this book. It is the first book in the series so I have to read at least one more to see if this is a series that I want to continue. I was intrigued by the title of the book, thinking that there would be some kind of romance involved, but I can honestly say that this title (in my opinion) has nothing to do with the actual story. I found the main character to be interesting in some ways, but she really didn't grab me and draw me into the story. This book has a few twists and turns, and the who in the "who done it" maybe a surprise to most of the readers. But for me the characters were just not ones I could get into, now like I said I plan on reading the second book in the series and we will see how that goes. Having said that I have to rate this book at a 2.75 out of 5 stars, though I couldn't really get into the book the fact that the killer was not an obivious choice was well thought out and I liked that twist. This book has no romance aspect to it, to it is the mild Bell Pepper rating.
Laney just found out that her Grandmother left her the house that she lived in, which included a Tea Room that use to be open to the public. The question becomes, what to do with the house and Tea Room? Once a murder happens inside one of the rooms, will Laney's decision be made for her or will she keep going on the path she started? Along with a few new friends Laney will try and figure out who the killer is, so that she can move forward with whatever path she is going to take.
If you like cozy mysteries and a book that will actually keep you guessing on "who done it" this book is one that you should check out.
I hope this helps you find your next Tantalizing Tome.
An interesting book and a murder mystery which was somewhat predictable. I will try the next one in the series.
Sometimes a move to the country… Can lead to murder. Amazon synopsis: Freelance artist, Delaney Powers, has just had a really bad breakup when she receives news that will change her life forever. When Delaney’s boyfriend breaks up with her, she is given a chance to start fresh in a quaint tow, away from the busy city life. Delaney’s grandma leaves her tea room to her in her will and it’s just the thing she needs to heal her broken heart. The surprises that Delaney has, including a dead body, makes this a quick reading cozy mystery. I enjoyed the small town feel and the townsfolk. The story flows nicely and I was able to figure out the murderer, but not the motive.
I look forward to reading more in the Tea Time Cozy Mysteries series. If you enjoy a fast read and solving mysteries, this is just your kind of book.
"Tempest in a Tea Room" by Summer Prescott offers a cozy mystery with charming characters and an engaging setting. The tea room backdrop adds a delightful touch, creating an inviting atmosphere for readers. However, the plot felt somewhat predictable at times, lacking the twists that would elevate it further. While the dialogue is enjoyable, some character development could be deeper to enhance emotional investment. Overall, it's a pleasant read for fans of the genre but may not leave a lasting impression. It is also a two hour read, so perhaps I shouldn’t have expected a lot of depth or suspense!
This is going to be an awesome series! I really enjoyed Laney's character along with the motley crew of supporting characters. I thought it was sweet that she let her grandma's fiance stay on at the B&B. I sure hadn't seen that killer coming, definitely a surprise! I'm really looking forward to more books in the series. Delaney and Babby, the antique shop owner sleuthed really well together. I loved how Delaney put the clues together then came up with what was missing. I'll definitely be borrowing any new books as they come out on KU!
Lancey was left the Tea Room when her beloved grandmother died of cancer. She was unable to travel from New York to Iberden at the time, but managed bus care after receiving a letter from a woman she believed was her grandmother's attorney. When she got to town she found the mayor dead in her home the next morning. Thus began the process of finding whodunit. A very good mystery.
Delaney just had a bad breakup when she learns that her beloved grandmother has let her tea shop and house to her. She is excited to move to Vermont and reopen the tea shop that her grandmother loved so much. Sadly while she is out getting furnature, a body is found n the parlor, halting her progress. Now she has to solve the murder so she can get on with her life and before anyone else dies.
I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review
Great first book of series!!!! Delaney inherited a charming Tea Room and an unexpected problem to boot! But with several townies she had overcome the obstacles with a renewed charming Tea Room. Who have thought the Mayor would cause some much hassle. You will like this new series, can't wait for the next book!!!!
This was a good short read. Well paced, nice details, a setting in New England, and a quirky set of characters, this story was an easy read that held my interest from beginning to end. I love the tea room setting as well. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
I really like this new series. I thought for sure I figured out who the killer was but was completely surprised when the killer was revealed. Looking back there really were only a couple of clues that lead to the real killer. I like it when I don't figure it out before the reveal.
I listened to this on audiobook format. The whodunnit element of this book was solid enough, as I didn’t see it coming. But the book lacked the charm that most cozy mysteries have. The potential was there but perhaps the story was too brief to really flesh out those elements. I may give the second book in the series a go at some stage.
A very short and cozy crime story. It's a tea room and it's a murder. There is not a lot of big reveals, any nasty details or a lot of suspects. It's a very classic case that you have seen hundreds of times before. It's not hey original but I guess it was a sweet little crime story in a cozy setting and lots of innocent good people around.
Short and sweet. Plots twists and a murdered Mayor. But Laney opens her grandmothers tea room again I hope there are more coming in this series. I will definitely read more of these.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the setting in the Tea Room. I can’t wait to see what happens next to Laney, Roger, Babby, Janet and Raymond. Great job with this new series. 😊😊👍👍
Loved it!! Fun & original setting. Well written, didn't see who the the culprit was until the as author revealed it. I look forward to more in this series.
This is a promising new series that is an enjoyable read. I really liked the characters and adore the idea of a tea room as a setting. I'm looking forward to more in the series.
When Laney inherits her grandmother’s former tea shop she’s determined to reopen it. Her plans are put on hold when a body is discovered in the shop. There was a lot of set up and character introduction since this is the first book in a new series but I’m looking forward to book two.
Love the tea shop setting but I think using it as the site of a murder in the first book might be off putting to people. Laney and Roger are pleasant characters and the story unfold quickly.
A lovely little small town cozy. There isn't much time to get to know the town's characters in this short novella but from what is there it looks to be a nice cast. A decent job of giving you clues without making them obvious.
Very short book. Although that was nice in some ways (quick read), I admit that it seems like something was missing. I don’t think the author had time to develop the story or the characters to the level that I am accustomed. Story itself was good, just brief.
This was such a fun quick little read. I thought for a quick story the characters were ok developed. The murders motive wasn’t shared or I missed it and it kind of came out of nowhere but I’m excited to see what happens in book 2.
Because I can’t do a 1/2 star. I LOVE a fluffy read. I LOVE a tea shop. I do not love this book. Maybe the rest in the series are better but I’ll never know because I don’t want to try now because this was so disappointing.
