Being the new officer on the Laurel Springs Police Department has been a blessing. They've treated me like family since the moment I started my first shift. It's what I've wanted since I left home at eighteen. Life is going amazing, especially when I meet Alisa, a nurse at Laurel Springs Medical. She's saucy, but I suspect it hides a vulnerability not many get to see.
I want to see it, want to know everything about her. In a moment where she desperately needs someone, I'm there for her.
And I won't leave until she asks me to.
Alisa Hiilligan
I've always been a transplant, searching for a home. I thought I found it in Calvert City, instead it's the neighboring town Laurel Springs.
Since I've been here I've met the new hot cop, Archer. He makes me want everything I shouldn't.
But when the reason I left Calvert City comes back with a vengeance; I'll need him more than I ever thought.
And he'll prove he's here for the long haul - something no one else ever has.
The story of Archer in not well developed, but what makes the story more difficult to follow is the extra words and mis-spelled words throughout the book. It is as if the book was written in a week and is a rough draft. I have loved every Laramie Briscoe book I have read. Unfortunately, I believe this one needs to be proofed, edited, and re-published.
It’s easy to say that I love everything about this series, but it’s true. And, the author has given me everything I enjoy most from her work in this book: two scarred hearts that have been through the wringer but are able to find happiness and hope for a brighter future together. Add to that, the amazing sense of community and “the family you choose”, and I never want to leave the pages of Laurel Springs. Not only are Archer and Alisa dealing with all the baggage their families of origin dumped on them, but they’re stuck in the middle of one of the issues being blazed across headlines the world over. I am in awe of the way this pair handled themselves in a tricky situation that most people would have walked away from and never looked back. I wish more of us had the bravery of these two characters. I’m not even going to guess where the author is taking us with the next book, but I know I want to be at the front of the line to get on that ride. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through Give Me Books Promotions.
This is the seventh book in this series. They can be read as standalone books. Archer is new to Laurel Springs police department, but not a new police officer. Alisa is a nurse and new to Laurel Springs as well. She used to work in the next town but she could no longer safely stay there. Neither ever imagined they would find everything they ever wanted in the small town of Laurel Springs. Archer and Alisa have an instant connection. Neither had a particularly great childhood. So, they have that in common. Alisa’s past has been led right back to the door of her work. Now she must figure what to do? Archer will do anything in his power to make sure Alisa is safe and protected. Archer and Alisa help each other with their parents. This was a fantastic read. I love this series and the characters. Laramie does a fantastic job creating this world and these characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Fantastic job Laramie.
Wow, this one had a darker edge to it than the previous Laurel Springs Task Force books but I am here for ALL of it. Archer and Alisa jump from the pages with their intense connection. Archer is growly and Swoony just as a of the men in Laurel Springs are. This story has it all; intensity, sweetness, some heat and will leave you with a smile on your face.
Sometimes being cocky backfires. Alisa and Archer have such great chemistry. She is much braver than she gives herself credit and he’s there to back her up. This author has once again delivered a great story!
Readers of Archer get to go back to Laurel Springs and see some familiar faces! I was ecstatic when I knew this book was coming out! Archer and Alisa are amazing together. Alisa really struggles to let Archer in because of her past. Alisa's past comes knocking and she realizes she doesn't want to let Archer get away. They have to work together to stop some bad guys, but they also learn to trust and love each other through everything.
*I received an ARC from the author for my honest review*
I have been a Laramie Briscoe fan for a long time. I have read and enjoyed the stories of all the characters along the way. That is why for me Archer was a bit of a let down. It felt thin and rushed. My e-reader copy contained more than a few typos and word mistakes. For a book I paid for by a professional author that was a surprising disappointment.
Archer is the latest in the LSERT books. Archer is new to Laurel Springs and comes to us with baggage from his childhood. In the beginning of the book he gets hurt and heads to the ER where he runs into nurse Alisa, another transplant to LS, who also has childhood baggage and a secret that brought her to Laurel Springs.
The two have great chemistry and start getting pretty heavy in the dating right away even though Archer has it in his mind that he will never marry. Archer struggles with how he was raised and how his parents treated him when he became an adult and this reflects on his views on his relationships with women. At the same time Alisa was raised by hippies and never knew a constant home and wants a family of her home. These are two conflicting views by a couple that are head over heels crazy about each other from the get go.
They share many of the same friends and we get glimpses of many people from past books. Most notably Stella and Ransom with our favorite K9 Rambo of course. Menace plays a new part in the Laurel Springs Police Department as well with a new promotion so we get to see more of his yummy goodness.
Alisa has a few run ins with another county’s police officer which brings up why she moved to LS and Archer is there to save her every time. Her white night in blue armor. Alisa is a great nurse and seems to be a very compassionate person, perfect for a hard working police officer like Archer. In the end everything works out and they get their HEA.
We get a glimpse into the next book Knight with Menace. I am so looking forward to that book.
We're back to Laurel Springs where we find blue collar men and women trying to live their lives peaceful and hopefully in love. This time around we get to see how the newcomers to the community, Archer and Alisa, find peace and love together. I liked both of the characters in previous books. And I fell in love with them instantly.
Archer is trying to find his ground and do his job the best way that he can. He has his sight set on Alisa, who's not been so keen to give him the time of day. But he's persistent and he finally shows her that he's worth taking a chance on.
Alisa has come to Laurel Springs to get away from problems. She has been keeping Archer at arm's length but now she sees him for what he really is and is willing to take the step to see where the attraction can take them. But her troubles followed her to the new town, and they mean business. But thankfully Archer is there to save the day. When bad guys are put away, happiness is there for the reach.
I love reading Laramie's books. I feel as if she knows how to write real-life fiction on pages that feel like it's happening right before your eyes, and you can't help but love every new character she introduces to us.

Poor Archer, he didn't have an ideal childhood, and it left scars on him. He's finally found a place to settle down as a police officer for the Laurel Springs Police Department, and things are going well. Alisa is a nurse at Laurel Springs Medical after having to leave the last town she wanted to settle down in as she was caught in the crossfire of something bad by no fault of her own. Archer really wanted to go out on a date with Alisa, but it's been quite difficult to get her to agree to it since she's not inclined to trust cops. Finally she gives him a yes, and they embark on a new journey together which was hot & sweet at the same time. However, that situation she was running from has come for her, so now she has to trust Archer to keep her safe. I love this series so much with the suspenseful subplots alongside the romance portion of the program. There's heat, drama, and twists coming in hot making it another page turner, and I CANNOT WAIT for the next book! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I haven't read any of the previous books in the series however it didn't stop me following the storyline at all. I enjoyed the premise of the book where the two newest town members slowly decide to give into the attraction between them. Alisa Hilligan is the new nurse we quickly learn that she is hiding the reason she moved which added a layer of intrigue. Archer Grey is a police officer who has quickly immersed himself with his new team and is determined to prove himself. When Archer finally gets Alisa to say yes to a date he goes all in. I liked that he was a little unsure of how to proceed and looked to his friends successful relationships for how to woo her. They both had troubled home lives and I liked how they helped each other accept them, heal and move forward. There is some drama that follows Alisa but I felt after the build up it was all resolved rather quickly. The epilogue was a perfect ending for this couple with a heart pounding glimpse of the next book that has me wishing time away.
Another great addition to the small town of Laurel Springs first responders series. We get a two for in this one as Archer is the newest member of the town’s police force and Alisa is the new nurse at the hospital. These two are wildly attracted to one another but past issues in Alisa’s life have her apprehensive. Especially about getting involved with a cop after the force from her previous home town really let her down.
Ms. Briscoe has given us a wonderful romance that melted my heart. While Archer and Alisa’s story isn’t always smooth sailing, it never truly wavers. The storyline reminds us that no matter what we’ve endured in our lives, we don’t have to let the bad define us and there are good people out there we just have to let them in.
Awesome read. I highly recommend grabbing it up asap.
The dedicated blue-collar workers are the backbone of the Laurel Springs community, and no one writes a better small-town romance about them than Laramie Briscoe. Archer is the latest addition to the LSERT brotherhood. He is smitten with recent hire nurse Alisa. She In turn is captivated with the hot cop but somewhat reluctant to pursue a relationship with him. If you are a fan of the author, some of the most beloved LSERT characters make an appearance in the book. They embody the spirit of family community as well as providing positive relationship role models for Archer and Alisa who both come from broken families. The closeness and camaraderie of the group encompass the couple helping them realize that the past can be overcome and a future changed. This book also deals with witnessing abuse of power and ramifications of being a whistle blower. Archer is the 7th book in Laurel Springs Emergency Response Team series and a great addition to the collection.
She came to Laurel Springs to get away from a situation. Here she found friends, a home, a job, and maybe even a man she could trust. But could she ever trust a cop?
Archer loved his job even if he was the new guy. But he knew the others and was proud to be on the force. He wasn't a commitment guy--until he met Alissa. It might take some time but he had plans to get closer.
Things were going well until they weren't. Her past came back to haunt her. Archer had promised to protect her. Would he be able to?
It's a touching story with plenty of heat, great characters, some intrigue, and a couple you want to find each other for life. I'm always pleased with this series and love it when the characters from older stories show up as in this one. A short read you'll enjoy without a huge time commitment. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
Laurel Springs newest residents, Archer and Alisa, are perfect for each other. Both of them came to Laurel Springse for a change. Alisa was looking for refuge and Archer was looking to build a life away from his parents. Having been dealt sketchy hands, both of them need to learn how to trust in a relationship and in each other. It takes time and some gentle pushes from other LSERT residents, but trust is fragile and they manage to build a strong foundation. There is a healthy dose of action in this novel, as Alisa’s past comes back to find her in Laurel Springs. It’s a great read with a good HEA ending. There is also a surprise epilogue leading into a sequel with another much love Moonshine Task Force member, Menace.
Laramie Briscoe brings us back to Laurel Springs and Oh My Goodness, I loved it! I love the MSTF and LSERT series and Archer is an awesome addition to those series! Archer is new to the Laurel Springs PD, making a new home for himself and enjoying his job. Alisa has moved from Calvert City and is now a new nurse at Laurel Springs Medical and friends with Stella and Kelsea. They are attracted to each other, and after Archer is injured Alisa agrees to go out with him. However, both are wary because their family backgrounds aren’t exactly the “Home Sweet Home” type; but events bring them closer. Their story is so great, seeing them grow closer; and on top of that, some great thing happen to some old friends!! Love, Love, Love Laramie and this book!!
Wow, absolutely couldn't put this book down. It was so well written with an intriguing storyline and amazing characters. Touching plot that is scary and happens in real life all the time. Both characters experienced family drama that they have to work through and realize they are not like their families. Archer is the new officer for the Laurel Springs Police Department. Alisa is a nurse at Laurel Springs Medical and left Calvert City because of some trouble. I don't want to give anything away but I will say the author writes with passion, truth and always puts her heart and soul in her work.
I have been waiting for Archer’s story and it did not disappoint. Archer Grey is the newest officer to Lauren Springs and has found himself immersed in the town and its people. Alisa Hilligan is also new to Lauren Springs but she is much slower to immerse herself with the town and it’s people. Archer is hurt on a call and winds up at the hospital with Alisa to help take care of him. Alisa finally let’s her guard down and Archer gets a yes when he asks her out. From here their journey begins but between their families and Alisa’s past, they have a few obstacles to get to the HEA. Archer is a fabulous addition to the series and I can’t wait for Knight to come out. The little preview with Menace wasn’t nearly enough. I received an authors copy and I have left an honest review.
I love this series and how it relates to the Moonshine Task Force series and the past characters who take care of their own. This instalment features Archer who is the newest hot cop and Alisa who is a new nurse in town. You can feel the hot and intense attraction between these two. Both have past issues, but both want a permanent home and a permanent romantic life. Alisa is sweet, caring, honest and loyal, but is running from a difficult past problem. I love how Archer is strong and steadfast and is there for Alisa when she needs him the most. This was a easy to read but highly romantic and enjoyable love story that I read in one sitting. I received an ARC for an honest review.
Archer was such a sweet romance between and officer and a nurse. Archer is new to the Laurel Springs Police Department and Alisa is new to the hospital she works at as well. They get to know each other when he comes into the ER and through her co-workers, who are married to Archer’s co-workers. I loved seeing them be friends first and then into a couple. Alisa had been through a lot at her old job and I loved how protective and understanding Archer was about the situation. I also loved seeing glimpses of some previous couples. This book was a nice addition to the series and I can’t wait to read the next one.
Archer and Alisa are two different people yet they feel and are drawn to each other. They make the leap to commit to a relationship with each other – and I never felt like it was forced or un mutual. Their connection for me was undeniable from the first page.
Alisa has some issues from her past and likewise for Archer too and so they aren’t on the same page when it comes to their future. This does bring some issues you could say but in the end – their chemistry is too much for them to resist giving it a try and seeing where it could lead to.
Archer by Laramie Briscoe is amazing. Archer and Alisa’s story is amazing. Archer and Alisa come from similar backgrounds not the same but similar. Alisa’s family keep coming to her for money and she has been hurt by others in the past so it is hard to trust. Archer never wants to marry because of how he grew up. Will Archer and Alisa come together and help each other heal? Make sure to one click this amazing story. Laramie knows how to write a story one that keeps you wanting more. Thank you Laramie for a great read.
The vibe between Archer and Alise is straight up swoony forehead kisses! Their book is a perfect illustration of why I adore this author and her books. Her characters could be our neighbors, the nurse at the hospital and the newest cop on the beat in Laurel Springs. Watching them fall in love was pure bliss! We also got catch up with some familiar faces and it was like coming home. 6 stars for Alise and Archer!
This is a well written book with strong characters in Archer and Alisa. The author takes you into their lives with both dealing with past hurts and finding love and family in this small town romance. She brings the story to life with her descriptive writing, moves it quickly and smoothly and delivers a terrific read.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and are freely given.
OH.MY.GOODNESS!!! I think I have found my new favorite man of the Laurel Springs Police Department!!! Archer is everything! The way he loves Alisa is swoon worthy! I love how much the two have in common! Laramie has done it again. She keeps hitting them out of the park! She shows the reader that toxic families come in all shapes and sizes and they do not discriminate! But, she does show you that doesn’t have define your heathy relationship and I’m here for it! I if you love some knight in shiny armor, then Archer is your book.
Another amazing story by Laramie Briscoe. This book was everything I wanted. I couldn't put book down once started.
I loved Archer and Alisa together, they may be hard to trust anyone because their pasts. But they both began to trust each other. Archer is there for Alisa through all the hard times for her. They are both new to the area but they already part of the town.
Absolutely loved this book!! The only thing I didn't like the book was it was too short ( lol)... Archer & Alisa are definitely 2 fantastic people! Laramie writes a beautiful love story in each of her books and it is awesome to see the MTF gang back together again!
Archer and Alisas story is cute read with both of the characters really easy to like. Archer is one who isn’t looking to settle down for life and Alisa isn’t sure she wants to get tied up with a cop but when certain things he happen he is who she needs to run to.
I have enjoyed all of the books in the series but with this installment of this series I have mixed feelings.
In this installment we meet the new addition to the Laurel Springs PD and ER when we get Archer and Alisa'a story. Both characters new to town are starting to settle in but their attraction to each other is undeniable despite Alisa playing hard to get. Alisa has come to Laurel Springs as a way to start over after a bad experience in Calvert City while Archer has come to the area as a means to find home.
As the story progresses, the feelings between the pair have increased. They both are getting settled in their new lives but as they start to get comfortable in their new relationship, Alisa's past has come to the door of her new start as well as a whole set of new problems.
First, this was a super quick read that I have finished in one sitting. My issue with this installment is that it read like a YA book. The characters while both well written needed some more development. There were brief mentions of both characters issues with their family but for them to be big issues for both characters and how their past may possibly effect their decisions for their futures there was no development in it making me wonder the purpose of even mentioning them to begin with.
Another issue that I had with this installment is that events took place, for example attendance at a picnic and then it felt like the story faded to commercial and that was the end of that. In the past there was more to these type of interactions with the characters from previous books that it felt as if things were introduced and then just left unfinished.
Finally, the last issue I had with this installment is that was that there was no conflict between the characters for them to resolve and their relationship is rainbows and unicorns sweet. There were no disagreements or issues that the characters needed to work out together. Where Alisa had issues with her past, the events there felt like they happened in a minute and then all was right with the world without lasting affects on her or Archer or them as a pair. It just didn't feel real it me since everything was just perfect once they started seeing each other.
Overall, this was an okay read for me. If you are looking for a quick read then you will not be disappointed and this is the book for you. I just hope that the teaser that we got for the next installment in the series does not disappoint or leave me wit the feeling that I was reading a night time TV drama that can get away with introducing things that do not need resolution immediately.
