I was never meant to be an alpha. As a sixteen-year-old shifter who can barely control his wolf, I’m definitely not qualified for the job.
Unfortunately, I’m stuck with the pack I accidentally acquired. Or, I guess they’re stuck with me. Plus, now that my big secret is out, quite a few shifters want me dead. None more than Huxley Black.
And don’t even get me started on the Lucy problem.
Lucy Stone
Things haven’t been the same since I came home from the fight at Blackwater. Dad is angry. Strange things are happening at the Clear Creek pack. And something is wrong with my gift.
When I see more than I should, I’ll have to choose between loyalty to my pack and protecting the innocent.
But the real question is, will I be able to live with myself after everything I’ve already done?
Elisha Kemp is an author of young adult and new adult fiction who writes in a range of genres, including fantasy, paranormal, contemporary and romance.
Elisha Kemp loves creating worlds you can get lost in and characters you can fall in love with.
She lives with her partner, two human-shaped wolf pups and black cat by the beach in New Zealand.
Her ideal day would be a powder day on the slopes, then relaxing by the fire with a red wine and a good book.
The sequel delivered and destroyed at the same time. A lot of what I wanted to see in the characters exceeded my expectations but one character… you just hate to love. You want to be on their side and fight for their happeness but their actions ugh their action and then their guilt! You deserve it but it hurts either way!!
I enjoyed book two so much, it was just as fast paced and I laughed and cringed and felt all the emotions. The development of our main character was slow but understandable. He has had the wrong hand dealt to him at every turn. He was given a role he never wanted and he just wanted to be as normal as he could be, being a shifter. But I’m thinking, predicting that he will gain strength going forward. We have seen him take on more of an active role in the end even if it was just him saying he was going to try. But with his pack memebers Im going to guess they will help him be the Great Alpha he was destined to be.
Look at me talking about this book like it’s real life! I’m invested!
Lucy definitely had the biggest growth and we see more vulnerability. We see more accountability and power then we saw in book 1! She’s a storm to be reckoned with! I’m excited to see if her character blooms beyond what we have already seen.
And the dragons!! I want to know more about the dragons!
The ending hurt just so y’all know if you read book 1 (I hope you did) that ending will hit so hard and you don’t see it coming! Or at least I didn’t, not until that last chapter!
After finishing Layton wolf, I was sucked into the series and super excited to get my hands on accidental alpha. Thank you so much to the author for sending me copies of her book.
Book 2 picks up where book one ended. The formation of the liberty pack, run by a reluctant Tobias Finch and the slow crumbling of Clear Creak pack. Tobias, who never wanted to be an alpha and made that abundantly clear throughout this entire book, now has to figure out how he’s going to house the entire liberty pack. Oh and people want him dead.
Cody is trying his hand at being by the alpha’s side rather than being an alpha. His vision for the pack is very different from Tobias and it often leads them in a heated disagreement. Cracks start to form in their relationship and pretty soon Cody has no option other than dealing with his own father.
Lucy’s and Summer’s story are super interesting in this book as well. I loved seeing Summer step up and be the bad ass I know she can be. I think Lucy even started to see her as more than just a submissive wolf.
Tobias is still after Huxley Black and I’m just as curious to see why this man is so important and if he used to be his parents friend then why did he betray them?
I have to admit that I was team Cody throughout most of the book. Tobias was making me so aggravated with his hands off approach and his inability to make a single decision. He wanted everyone to be equal but it just doesn’t work in the shifter community.
I result hope we see Tobias step up and she’d just a tad of his humanity. But I do think he has the potential of being a great leader!
I was a massive fan of Latent Wolf. It was wonderful to have such a fresh and original novel from a New Zealander. As a teacher I have recommended it many many times and it has become a bit of a favourite in our school library.
This next edition, Accidental Alpha, takes the same characters and extends them into new and exciting adventures.
A very highly recommended novel that gives the reader humour, a sense of concern for the characters, and a deep sense of engagement with the world that Kemp has created.
I was a massive fan of Latent Wolf. It was a fresh and original novel from a new to me author. I would recommended it to anyone who likes shapeshifter stories with low angst, humor and a fresh take on shifters. Elisha Kemp did a great job!.
