Zane White has been running since he was 16. Now he's finally got a life he doesn't hate, living in Surrey, teaching preschool by day and partying the nights away. That is until a hookup turns stalker.
But a spiked apple martini is not half as terrifying as falling in love for the first time with the adorkable and caring Doctor Charming.
Sebastian Charming is a South African junior doctor, trying to earn his UK citizenship through working for the NHS. With his demanding job, he has no time for relationships and, as a die-hard romantic, he's never even considered casual sex. When the two meet, it’s instant sparks, but being together means both need to leave their comfort zones. How adventurous is Sebastian willing to get? And how much commitment is Zane willing to give?
A contemporary steamy mm romance inspired by Snow White.
(This book is set in 2019 and there is no mention of the pandemic in the story)
Kiss of Life is Book 3 in the Ever After series of mm romance books loosely inspired by fairy tales. Each book in this series is a complete story that can be read as a standalone.
This book is super! A cute relationship that evolves from friendship to something else gradually, discovering gradually their issues and weaknesses. Really enjoyed
Reread 12-13.04.2025.

4+ Kolejna dobra historia w serii. Kolejni dobrzy i wiarygodni bohaterowie.
I have now read 3 books in this series and have loved all of them. You really feel for the characters and the books are written with a good pace that keeps you wanting to read more. I'm looking forward to the next book
Penguins. Yes, penguins become important in a section of the book. Which would be a spoiler, so since this is a spoiler-free review, you will have to read the book to understand the reference.
Kiss of Life is the first of the Ever After series I have read. I rarely read books out of order, but the premise had more appeal to me than the others. The first chapters were challenging to keep track of all the characters in Zane's school, though apart from that I didn't have any issues with following continuity of the series. The book can indeed be read standalone.
The characters really made the book. The opposite lives of Sebastian and Zane were interesting and their careers seemed well researched. I have volunteered in teaching and first aid before, so even though my exposure is limited, those aspects rang true. They felt very real to me as people, and their relationship developed in a believable way. Some of Zane's insecurities reminded me of some people I know, which was equally frustrating as it was realistic.
The descriptions were vivid and dialogue was easy to follow. The sex scenes were well written, and even though they were numerous, it never got to the point where it felt repetitive to me. There was plenty of conflict and drama to keep the plot interesting without becoming over the top and drowning in melodrama. A particular plot point revolves around Zane having an identical twin, and as an identical twin myself, I found that part to be stretching plausibility (for a very specific reason that relates to my own experience). I forgave it because other aspects of being an identical twin was well explained. I can't really say more without spoilers. That aside, the ending was cute and lovely. It brought a tear to my cynical eye.
The couple from book two, Elam and Charlie play an important secondary role to the story. I liked Elam a lot, and while I wasn't too keen on Charlie to begin with, he grew on me. So, I may one day return to read Midnight Dance. Who knows, maybe I will be a weirdo who reads the series backwards.
I personally prefer the colour schemes and contrast of the previous two book covers in the series. Apart from that, I can't think of anything to criticize about the story. Kiss of Life had a similar tone to the 'Will & Patrick get Married' series, so if you enjoyed that series you will like this. 4/5
This one is T.L. Gehr's "Kiss of Life" from her Ever After series (the third and final book in the series...even if I still haven't read the first one yet; fight me) (also, it's a Snow White retelling...but gay). ["Zane White has been running since he was 16. Now he's finally got a life he doesn't hate, living in Surrey, teaching preschool by day and partying the nights away. That is until a hookup turns stalker.

And well...
It was…a lot. Zane has been through so much shit, and his first reaction to anything and anyone is to push away. Sebastian was the exception but barely. I didn’t ugly sob nearly as much, but there were still some serious tears on my part.
Less cringey than the second book but still an amazing read with some awesome characters and a fun Snow White retelling. I just need to figure out why the Beauty and the Beast retelling by this author was never finished.
Trigger Warnings: stalking, dying/death, nightmares, self-hate, mentions of homophobia, mentions of conversion therapy, mentions of suicide, and more
So I guess it doesn't say much if my review is - omg, this book was awesome, omg, this book was fantastic, omg I love this book. Sebastian and Zane meet, sort of, at a bar. Zane is a self-described manwhore - the kind of guy who meets guys in a bar, likes what he sees and asks "wanna fuxk?" Sebastian is a South African expat trying to get his UK citizenship and become a registrar, which I think is a sort of the American equivalent of an attending. Sebastian is a sweet guy, takes care of his friends, misses his family and doesn't do hook-ups. This is romancelandia so we know what happens. But the journey there was delicious. Zane is a mess, with a very sad backstory having grown up in the US in a religious family. Sebastian is a sweetie, who, against his better judgement gets involved with Zane. Oh this gave me quite the book hangover. And, at the risk of being a broken record, thank goodness for GR challenges. I NEVER would have selected this book to read but did so because it fit a particular category. It was good that at 40%, I stopped and bought all of the other books this author has written. Superb writing - a few boo-boos but nothing that takes you out of the story. Sexy, funny with terrific characters - both our MCs are written with a deft sure hand. And such a swoony HEA that I re-read it 10 times and cried each time.
2.5 rounded. I’m back to not really finding the essence of the fairytale in this book, in this case Snow White. It’s also my least liked of this series. . I was happy to see that Gehr was planning a book 4 but it’s been 3 years and still nothing so I hope it hasn’t been scrapped for good.
I always love a damaged hero who finds that one person who breaks down all the walls, the one he can’t live without. This story was perfect. Zane - tattoos on the outside but a heart of gold- especially when it comes to his kids. Sebastian-the “Charming” Dr that comes to his rescue and then gives him so much more. The grand gesture was the sweetest and the last few chapters had me misty eyed. I loved it and highly recommend this book.
Start to finish. Held me spell bound. The meeting. Two men so different. Grew up so different. One so trusting. The other only knowing pain. Come together because both are looking for something more. Though Zane doesn't know what he looking far and Sebastian does now he just has to give Zane time. Loved this story. Love this series.
