The only thing more exciting than an author and a famous actress staying at the bed and breakfast is a real murder mystery.
A cozy mystery from International Bestselling Author Danielle Collins
The Keys Bed and Breakfast is hosting a reclusive author and a famous actress who are working together on a new memoir. It soon becomes apparent that not everything is as it seems. And then the dead bodies start showing up. Can Eva and the Murder Mystery Book Club sort fact from fiction and solve another deadly mystery?
A Memoir of Mystery is the fifth story in the Florida Keys Bed & Breakfast Cozy Mystery series. If you like fast-paced mysteries with interesting characters, a talkative bird, and unexpected twists, you’re going to love the Florida Keys Bed & Breakfast Cozy Mystery series.
Danielle Collins is an author of several series that I have enjoyed.
Eve Stewart is owner of a B&B in Key West, Florida. An actress is staying for a week with a writer. They will be writing her memoirs. Then a man 🚹 is found poisoned. He recovers and then is found drown in the B&B pool. It appears to be an accident. Then Eve is confronted by the killer. Detective Jerome Makos to the rescue and arrest. I would recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic friends relationships mystery novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡🏡
Having retired in central Florida I enjoy listening 🎶 to stories based in Florida. Happy reading 📚 and have fun 🌙😀
In A Memoir of Mystery, the author does a good job of leading the reader, and Eva, the main character playing detective, to piece together seemingly random events into a real crime and connected mystery. It's Christmas time and Eva's bed and breakfast is mostly closed except for two celebrity guests and two others that arrive later. Everything is going smoothly until there is a poisoning across town. It doesn't seem to relate to her but then there are some small dramatic incidences at the inn. Eva finally decides to get the Murder Mystery Book Club involved.
This is the 5th book I have now read in this mystery series ... one after the other. I don't normally do that as I like to mix things up a bit so I don't get tired of the author; but I kept on going because this is a really good series: it's very well-written with well developed characters, just a touch of romance, interesting storylines & plot twists, and it's set in a fun place I've never been to before. Win-win-win.
My only complaint is that I'm starting to get tired of Eva's, the main female character's, stubborn standoffish prideful tendencies. I found that alot of her internal dialogue was just really annoying to me in this book. Especially when she was overlooking, justifying and/or dismissing really OBVIOUSLY strange happenings & clues and waiting so long to actually start seriously investigating. And someone got killed because of this. Her attitudes may just be a trigger for me & are some of my pet peeves ... and the fact that I have just read 5 of these books in a row. Time for a break. Otherwise, it's a good book in an enjoyable series & I do recommend it to cozy mystery lovers.
I love this series and sad to know it is one more book to end just as Eva and Jerome were starting something good. All Eva and the MMBC wanted to do was celebrate the holiday season, by having a nice party for a few close friends that are family. But Eva gave in an had just two guests just a few days, to write a famous movie actresses memoir. But strange things start to happen. A stranger in town is poisoned, but is alright, then the actress is seeing things and then an unexpected guess shows up and gets a room which the Keys B&B is closed. But the actress's agent shows up and while Eva is still planning the party she and detective Makos is trying to figure out what is going on. The reclusive author is busy hiding out writing the book, and the actress is losing her mental health and Eva can't get answers. What the heck is this mess around Christmas! You have to read this, so much to find out.
This one just didn't hold together for me. I don't understand why it took the MMBC to figure out what was going on. When the actress first reported seeing a possible ghost in the yard, Eva said she would check the security footage, but she never did. I kept waiting for somebody to check any of the footage from any of the security cameras, but nobody ever thought to do that. Why did the actress not remember that there was a twin? And there were details left out. Just how did she "steal" an audition? It was never explained. I would give up on the series after reading this one, but there's only one book left, so I'll read it to see how it all ends and hope the author finally got it together. There was so much potential here. I wanted to love this series. Instead, it has left me frustrated because there has been so much potential that hasn't really developed.

And we're back for the fifth book in the cozy mystery series that takes place around a Bed & Breakfast in the Florida Keys. Eva (the owner) and her Murder Mystery Book Club help out again after a poisoning and a death (suicide or murder) and we've also got troubling guests.
The romance angle continues to be enjoyable but this one wasn't as good as the others in the series, the mystery wasn't all that engaging and we didn't have as much time with our usual cast of characters. It was still good but the first four books in the series were a notch above the usual cozy mystery.
I already have purchased the next book in the series and it looks like it's the last one, which bums me out a little.
Eva owns Keys B&B in Key West, FL. She is part of a Murder Mystery Book Club who are wonderful characters in addition to Eva and Detective Jerome Mako. Eva and Jerome are friends but Eva is interested in a little more. Finally after 5 books. The B&B guests aren't likable or interesting. They detract a little from the story because there is very little interaction with them. Luckily there is enough going on to keep the book interesting plus the main characters are great. It is Christmas which adds some festiveness. This was an enjoyable cozy mystery.
I think this book was more serious, than others she has written. I think a lot of people hear the word cosy and dismiss it because it sounds silly. Let me assure everyone, these cozy books are serious mysteries. Minus the detailed sex and murder gore. I started reading a book I have had for a while. Forgetting it was not a"cozy" book. I could only read a few sentences. It was so graphic. I always enjoy Danielle's books. For those who will be readIng a cosy book for the first time, these books might sound silly. I'm here to say, often times, I can't guess who is the killer. Once you start you will never want to read anything else again.
Well, its getting close to finishing this series. I shall be happy to be done with it.
Never really build a bond with the characters and find them a bit slow at times.
I had to skip parts of the book to speed the reading. there are so many repeat/recpas that I don't see any need to read the parts I skipped.
the romance, is that really a romance? Also, why is she always thinking too long that everyone has to get her out of her trance? so annoying. isn't it supposed be that no one should be able to catch the main character thinking?
A strange assortment of holiday guests put Eva's gut just a bit wonky. She knows something is not right, but it's elusive. Attempting to clarify her relationship with Jerome, takes Eva's mind and concentration off of her guests odd behavior. When the Murder Mystery Club gets involved, the dirt comes out. An interesting story and very different for the holidays.
The stories are always interesting. She would do well to hire a proof reader to catch all of the errors. Ava instead of Eva first word in a paragraph, words left out. Every sentence has to have a verb. In one place Vicky is with one person, then Jerome's name is mentioned by accident, then back to the first person. Eva's friend is Jerome, not Vicky's. It does take away from a story that could get more stars.
This is the fifth book in the series. The murderer wasn’t hard to pick out but I continued to see what the reason would be. Well-written, the twists and turns were great.
Finally! Eva and Jerome hash out what is going on between them. They would like to start dating.
I listened to this book from Hoopla through my library. I actually rate this 3.5 but there are no half points in this rating system. Fast paced read, I enjoyed it.
Book 5 in the series. They are quick reads with fun, interesting characters that readers can relate to….or at least I can. The plots usually have a twist but when the hint is presented it’s fairly easy to predict what will happen. I enjoy books in a series if I like the characters and all these characters are enjoyable. There’s nothing inappropriate other than murder which is the whole point of a murder mystery. No sex, drugs or outlandish lifestyles- hence the cozy.
Interesting plot but very easy to unwind. I was way ahead of Eva on this one. Very easy to see that Rosalie was being targeted and drugged. Eva spent too much time worrying about party food and talking herself out of recognizing what was going on. Also, not certain why Rubens’s character was even included in this book; there was absolutely no point.
This has more pace than the previous in the series. I enjoyed some of the descriptions of the colours which brought the scenes to life. Easy reading. Sometimes a bit annoying with repetition of a theme thiugh. Just paint the white room for Goodness sake
This book was filled with characters who weren't who they appeared to be. Among the twists and turns, a man was drowned, and another man was poisoned, while an actress was driven to insanity. The truth came out in the end, and I was glad the so-called writer was arrested. Though full of confusing characters, I enjoyed the investigation and final outcome.
I've read several in this series and each have been absolutely wonderful! Very hard to put these books down because I want to know what's going to happen next. One thing I greatly appreciate is the lack of profanity in all the books. Please don't change that! I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.
A very different approach to this story. It still had all the characters, issues, and allowing the reader to be right in the middle of the revealing of the story. The Reader is always one of the investergaters, with all the others. Great book holding you to the end. Thanks, Danielle Collins can not wait to begin the next book and adventure.
Eeeeppp!!! I so want to be part of this book club and be sent on sleuthing assignments! Clever mystery (I figured out some but not all of it!), engaging characters, the hope of romance on the horizon for our intrepid heroine and the man I chose for her...so, eeeppp! I'm just one book away from completing the series...but I still have questions Hope I find the answers in Murder and Misdirection!
Lukijana Aida Reluzco.
Christmas is supposed to be a time for good will and cheer! When revenge comes to Key West it comes in death and destruction of all lives. Eva is right in the middle of it because it is in her B&B. Read how the MMBC help the police detective solve another case!
Eva is the owner and hostess of the Key’s, a bed and breakfast in Key West. She and her Murder Mystery Book Club aid is solving yet another mystery surrounding her guests.
Another successful little mystery set in a place that is unique. I love the characters getting to know them as I read through the mysteries they are trying to solve.. Looking forward to the next installment.
It was a good read. The mystery definitely had a few tricks and hidden secrets but overall it was well written. I enjoyed Eva's directness with Jerome and the possibility it references.
This was the worst book thus far. The potential is so great it makes it so much worse. I think this writer has a real shot of some day writing something great, but not yet. Get an editor. Meet with a group of writers, if you aren’t already. Give yourself a real chance.
This series is entertaining . There is a budding dominance as well as a unique mystery in each book. One must read the first book to learn about the main characters.
Thank you for this exciting mystery story. The storyline and characters were interesting and mysterious. I was happy to see Eva and Jerome getting cozy, about time.
A Memoir of Mystery : Florida Keys Bed & Breakfast book #5
