Mai Sasaki is a kitsune witch. Growing up in a small tea shop with her mother was not her idea of fun. After high school, she left for college, vowing never to return. Nine years later, standing in front of the tea shop, Mai wants nothing more than to have her mother train her to be the best witch possible.
Yuri Sasaki owns a tea shop known as The Den. In the supernatural community, this tea shop is a necessity. Patrons visit Yuri for everything from common aches and pains to shape-shifting mood stabilizers. When her daughter appears after being away from home, she reluctantly gives her a second chance.
Mai must now prove to her mother that she has the discipline to be her mother's apprentice. Her first assignment - meet with a client and give them a treatment. Will she be able to find them in time?
A great little homecoming story. Mai Sasaki, a kitsune, left home to study in college when she became an adult: never looking back. That's until she felt rejected by the world-at-large: nine years later. No job. No future. She returns home seeking an apprenticeship with her mom.
Her mom sets a test that reintroduces her to the paranormal world. She meets Max, her mom's part wolf companion. The interactions between Max and Mai are interesting. The story behind the shop is inviting. I foresee continuing with future episodes.
Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Haunting. Romantic. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
Mother and daughter shape shifter witches have a rather tense dynamic to overcome. The daughter, Mai, returns after years away at college, whhich unfortunately did not lead to any decent job prospects. Desperate, she has decided to ask if she can be an apprentice in her mother's tea and portions shop. Throw in a young man wolf shifter and things get more interesting. Mai's first task is washing the front windows of the shop. Definitely just a short intro. Not too many spelling and grammar mistakes.
Mia is a Kitsune shifter tales who had left home just to return after years away at college. She has no idea what she wants to do but comes back to ask her mother to train her to be a witch learning spells and potions for healing. Readers should enjoy this tale of reflection into knowing yourself and realising that sometimes what you need can be where you least expect it. I would heartily recommend this book.
An entertaining short story about a young lady, having graduating from college goes back home to become an apprentice to her Mother, as she can’t find work any where else.
Her mother is a special Japanese witch and hasn’t seen her daughter or heard from her since she left. Will she take her back in, will it work out?
Her first job is to get the large wolf dog back into human form and then to wash the windows of her mother’s tea shop! Fun, short story!
Mai is a kitsune who needs to find herself. She left home, and the teachings of her mother to do the typical "find herself". Going to college, getting a degree, and yet the human world didn't seem right either. Back home, she humbles herself, and passes a test to become mom's apprentice. Of course, working alongside a handsome werewolf speaks of other future potentials.
A delightful short story of a young Kitsune realizing where she truly belongs. Mai has doubted her existence and her place in the world until she meets Max, a young person, who had lost his belonging and had been lost to himself for years. He helps her figure out where she belongs. Lovely story, Ms. Steele. Thank you.
After many years away, Mia comes home to her mother and asks if she will teach her to be a witch. Her mother sets a task which Mia has to accomplish before she will consider helping.
Her mother has a large dog called Max, but Max has a secret.
I found this book to be thoroughly entertaining and thought provoking. I found the author's perspective on a young girls journey to find herself and the world she lives in to be a fresh approach to the matter. The characters were well developed and I could relate to them. I look forward to reading more fromm this author.
A prequel that gets and holds your interest from page to the last. A Kitsune young female goes home to see her Mom. The interaction with her is interesting. She meets a young man and an attraction on both sides is immediate. This is an interesting book
Searching for the meaning of life Mia moved away for college, a career and then returned to her roots. Her Mom could be lead for The Devil Wears Prada, but is that the real her? A lot of self introspection is in store for Mia but the book is way too shot to cover it.
A great short story. Very interesting and fun to read. Makes you look forward to reading the next book to see what happens. Definitely will be doing just that. The characters are strong yet very incredible sexy. Would recommend to anyone who wants to escape and relax.
...but sometimes you don't want to. This is Mai's feeling as she is forced to practically grovel to her mom. Passing the test is easier than eating humble pie.
Short & sweet story of the estranged daughter coming home to mum. To return to her roots & destiny & getting to know the handsome werewolf . Will her future be as she envisaged?
I finished this book a little while ago. The cover does not match what I got for the Kindle Edition. It was not what I expected it to be. It was an all right simple read.
A nice short story that brings home the point that sometimes you do not know what you have until you leave it, and if very lucky are able to return to it.
