Samantha put everything on the line, and Samuel broke her heart. While her family tries to figure out what exactly sent her into a tailspin of despair, Samantha's life continues to fall apart. The one thing she's always been able to reply on is her ability to dance, but when even that is put into question, Samantha pulls completely into herself.
The last thing she wants is to be taken on a road trip, but when Archie and Zach insist, she reluctantly goes along for the ride. Little could she have guessed this adventure away from Calvary would be just what she needed.
This book was a nice read for my mood. I started it and would have read it in one go, if I hadn’t been tired. I did enjoy it. But I’m confused, because this book was promoted as a reverse harem. But we are in book 4 and even though the O’Flannigan twins and Archie are interested in Samantha, there seems to be only one guy for her, her dance partner Samuel. Any kind of romance and romance drama is stickily with him. And there is still the issue, how christian religion and reverse harem go together.
Negative points: Samantha’s relationship with her brother and even more with her sister was quite shaky at the beginning. But even though there were issues, they were randomly and shortly named but never solved. Samantha is big in forgiving but even if I argue that she is religious and forgiving is part of this. But then if you alway forgive without showing consequences to people you become a doormat.
The Big Guy and Samantha: Starting in book 1 Samantha’s views changes. She attends church talks to Big Guy and so on. But while it was funny in book 1, in looses it’s charms with each following book. Also Samantha did not go to church once, did not pray. She only counts how many Hail Mary’s she should pray for her words and actions. Not really believable.
All this spanish: a glossary of the sentences would be good, because there are a lot of readers who cannot understand Spanish. There is less Spanish in this book but there is some. And why doesn’t Samantha look up the Word Miranda calls her and wants Samantha to call Miranda which is something like daughter in law and mother in law (I think).
Part of the story line was neglected. The book was about Samanthas heartbreak. But the reason why the flock is at the school was not really moved forward.
The cover: first of all the girl on the cover is a new one. And ballet pose ist strange, how can she stand alone in this pose, without a partner?
Plus points: I like the flock and the Solis family. There is still a story line. Samantha is developing from the shy girl to a new version of herself.
This book was very stagnant not much to say about character development and felt rather rushed. I'm still wondering where the author tends to go with this series I know when I read the 1st book it was titled as a RH, but now 4 books in and I still don't understand the dynamic with the MC and well anyone in the house. the internal dialog with the "big guy" is tedious at times and this series has me losing interest. I was very disappointed that the best part of the whole book to me is the hidden scene Darcy and Zack and not anything to do with Samantha
I love this series and this author but this book fell short for me. We are watching Samantha grow and change but she is internalizing everything. She didn't connect with the other characters like she would normally. There was a lot of conflict and no resolution. Also with Natalie, I am guessing Sam agreed to be with her in return for either financial help or more than likely she is a match for his mothers kidney. But plot twist with her rare blood type I am guessing so is Samantha. So instead of stringing that plot twist along for 5 more books I would love to see it explained in the next one. This one felt like filler.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked reading Samuel's POV also. I really enjoyed Darcy and Zach's blurb too. Samantha is definitely inexperienced when it comes to friends and boys but she is learning from her mistakes. Can't wait to read more and to hopefully find out the bullies get what's coming to them.
With the amount of bullying and Samantha withdrawing into herself and depression she went a couple steps back on the character growth she had achieved. With Samuel gone right after their fight and miscommunications piling up all around it’s easy to see why she had such a spiral. Good end. Plus the bonus scene with Darcy and Zane ❤️
