My ex’s best friend just paid a million dollars for a date with me.

I’ve known Beckett Pearce for two years.
I’ve disliked him for just as long.
He’s been voted New York’s most eligible bachelor twice.
And it’s not just his billions they want him for.
He’s an eleven in a ten world, but I can’t imagine anything worse than dating him.
He may have money, power, and good looks, but he’s also arrogant and infuriating.
Yet here I am.
On a million-dollar date with my ex’s best friend.

Beckett Pearce is a standalone frenemies-to-lovers, billionaire romance featuring opposites who most definitely do attract, a hilarious bachelorette auction, crazy family antics, and the kind of steam that might make your e-reader self-combust. All the feels, laughter, and a HEA you’ll be swooning over.

This would put you to sleep after 50 shots of espresso.

This feels like walking through snow - slow, tedious, and cold. It’s just very vanilla and stagnant. There’s no warmth to the storyline or dialogue. There’s little movement. What very little plot is here ends up making zero sense.

By the first date, the writing feels forced, and despite trying to be edgy and cute, it all comes off flat and desperately seeking attention. The whole bit of everything coming out of his/her mouth being “shocking” - boring overkill. The “noted” shit is overused. The weird as fuck first date questioning is like Cosmo took over…

Without stopping to put any thought into it, I say, “Do you believe mothers should stay home with their kids, or are you good with them having a career?” “I see we’re moving straight to the hard stuff,” he murmurs. “The important stuff.”Full points to him for only taking a second to answer me. “I believe women should do whatever they want to do, just as men should too. An unhappy parent can’t raise a well-adjusted child.” Also, full points to him for that answer, damn him. “Agreed. And if you were a father, would you babysit your kids on a weekend your partner went away for a girls’ weekend, or would you have a nanny look after them?” “Firstly, it’s not babysitting if it’s your own children. And it would depend on whether I had work commitments as to who looked after the kids. If I didn’t have to work, I wouldn’t call the nanny in.” The waiter brings my wine, and I drink some while thinking about how well Beckett answered that question. I used the term babysitting on purpose; more points to him for picking up on that. “Okay, next question,”

^^^ That goes on for most of the chapter, and it’s just too much. Sounds like she’s interviewing him to be a baby daddy, not enjoying the date or engaging in the love/hate banter we are TOLD they have but never SHOWN.

At this point, the only reason I’m reading is to find out WTF someone who stole TEN MILLION bucks from someone would give two flying purple ducks about a 50k necklace.

Several plot inconsistencies. The FMC has a sister and two brothers, and they’re all close. Said brothers did nothing when the FMC was cheated on, but they go nuts on the other sister’s fiancé? Her mom is a prude but has nada to say about the FMC talking about sex as she’s being auctioned for a date.

By 66%, this turns into two horndogs eating, screwing, and noting shit about each other. There is NO story. It’s the dating version of a travelogue. The big climax of drama… a sex tape between the FMC and her ex being released and how it impacts the MMC and FMC in business. Snooze. Are you okay? No. Are you okay? No. I’m busy. Yeah, I’m busy. I’m okay. Are you okay? No. Oh god, ima break up with you to save you. No. Well, okay, let’s not break up. Instead, let’s just ride off into the sunset. Okay. ~ Gresh, give me a break.

In the end, it’s all much ado about nothing. No explanation for why the ex stole millions and is concerned with 50k. No big moment for all the “mean girls” trying to keep the MCs apart. No big reasoning for the ex to want to just keep screwing with the MCs. It’s all just hyperbole with no cause nor conclusion. Sudden fade to rainbows for the HEA.

Bottom line…

Boring
Pointless
Zero storyline
Repetitive
Drivel
Don’t GAF about a single facet of the book.

Skim to finish. I don’t understand all of the high ratings on this one. After the first few chapters, which were the best, it really dragged for me. The references to how many orgasms the h needed were monotonous, and seemed to be the biggest point of their relationship. By chapter 23 I honestly didn’t give a rats arse about any of the characters, or what happened to them.

Kibirli pislik Beckett Pearce! Karşılaştıkları her an kıvılcımlar yüksektir, sürekli zıt fikirlerde ve çatışma halindedirler.

Benim sevdiğim karakter tiplemeleri vardı. Bu yüzden devam devam ✨

One of my very favorite couples!!! These two, this book, hit every feel a girl could have!!!

I absolutely loved the strength and sass Jenna showed at almost every turn of the page. Although, there were just enough times that we got to see her vulnerability to show just how human she really was. I love the things she does to "recharge her vibration." Or even the fact that she consciously works at it.

And Beckett!!! Oh the ways the layers were peeled back to show us not only how he cared for those he loved, but also how he could learn from his mistakes! Such a fantastic character!!!!

These two together!!!! Explosive, combustible!!!! Hard to find just the right adjective!!! But I absolutely loved them!!!! Can't wait to see what happens with Jameson Fox!!!!

Beckett Pearce is hot, Jenna will give him that much. But as far as she's concerned, he's a jerk. His money, his looks, they don't make up for his bossy, obnoxious personality. They've been barely cordial to each other as long as they've known each other, which is years considering he's her ex's former best friend. So why did he just bid on, and win, a date with her at an auction?! And why is she letting her traitorous body cloud her mind when she's around him lately?

Jenna may be barely able to stand him, but Beckett has always been intrigued by his former best friend's ex. Now that she's single, he's about to claim her. He will have to check himself, though, if he wants to make a relationship work with his spitfire, because when she gets mad at him and they have words, well, those words are true. He'll need to be present, not just work all day, keep secrets from her, and make decisions for her. She's her own woman and does not need him controlling what information she gets to know. He'll need to treat her like the equal partner she deserves to be, if he wants to keep this beautiful woman as his.

These bossy alphas of Nina's are divine! First there's Ashton of Asshole Mondays, who is possibly her biggest alphahole ever, then his friends (and associates) Jack and now Beckett. God...so deliciously bossy and ridiculously hot. But let's not forget his equal in all ways - Jenna. She's sassy, independent and doesn't take his bossiness at all. She puts him in his place and you know he loves it. I loved these two and am dying with anticipation for Jameson Fox's story now. Gotta get my billionaire alpha fix!

OK let me just start off by saying Beckett Pearce is my new alpha hero. I just loved everything about him. Now Jenna was just a spitfire! She was everything I want to be when I grow up. Their story kept me turning page after page. I love that as strong as Beckett is you still watch him grow throughout the book, and Jenna is so independent and strong and even when she shows her vulnerability, there’s strength in it.
These two are phenomenal together and I loved how no matter what life threw at them they navigated it together. This is a must read!

Sparks, humour, heat and angst in this story. Beckett is one hot bossy alpha, but Jenna is a woman who stands up to him, puts him in his place and pushes him to be a better person than he already is. He loves their discussions and her "notes",. adores sharing desert with her. With both characters having demanding careers and families, as well as an ex and a wanna be, their romance isn't always easy, in fact it's extremely testing. But with supportive friends, patience, understanding and most of all conversation they are determined to get through. I loved the characters and their strengths and vulnerabilities, the plot was interesting and unique. This is a steady read that can get intense and emotional at times, but it's a story I sank into and lapped it up. As always Nina has written a gripping book full of everything I ever want in a perfect story. Joyful to read. Started 26/11/21 Finished 27/11/21

This novel could have ended in a handful of chapters and nothing would have been missed. It was an insta-love romance (after Jenna broke up with his ex-best friend anyways), where Jenna and Beckett were depicted as the “perfect” couple. There was no tension or intrigue … just the same scenes and dialogue repeating over and over again. Almost every chapter contained some sort of idolization of the other and it made the characters feel one-note. For instance, Jenna couldn’t stop fawning over how incredible their sexual chemistry was and how Beckett would always say/do the sweetest things for her … never mind Nina Levine’s writing painting a different picture. In actuality, their sex scenes were insipid and their conversations were stilted and corny. I didn’t find the “Noted” comment that Beckett and Jenna kept using cute; just annoying. For such a “perfect” relationship, the conflicts (such as family drama, Beckett withholding truths to protect Jenna or her breaking up with him because her leaked sex tape was hurting his business) felt contrived, which was even more evident with how rapidly they were resolved. It blows my mind how Nina was able to write as many boring filler scenes as she did, including six (!) epilogues.

When NYC’s most eligible Batchelor bids on you for a date you should be thrilled…right? Well, Beckett Pearce has been Jenna’s “frenemy” for as long as she has known him. Beckett is Jenna’s ex’s ex friend. He always had a thing for her but she sees him as just another wealthy heartbreaker. Could she be wrong? Things are about to get interesting! Book three in this stand-alone series revolves around a frenemies to lovers, sweeter romance. This was a little slower for me to get into but does pickup when we get more into the story. If you like friendly banter between the H/h friends’ chatting/hanging together combined with a feel good romance than you will enjoy Beckett and Jenna’s story. Told in dual POV

Every woman needs a Beckett Pearce

"Beckett Pearce enters a room and takes command of it simply by existing."

Nina, Nina, Nina ... so close lady, so close. You baited me with Ashton Scott, hooked me with Jack Kingsley, but you missed the landing with Beckett Pearce. Even though Beckett is phenomenal, and every woman needs a man like him in her life ... Zachary King still owns that pedestal. Beckett has so many sides to him, I'm not sure which one I prefer ... Bossy Beckett? Growly Beckett? Sexy Beckett? The woman who captures this man's heart is going to need to be strong, intelligent, independent, and ready to stand up to him, no matter the consequences. Could Jenna Blaise be that woman, the one to chip away at the walls he has built around himself?

"Beckett is controlled. Focused. Disciplined. He's discreet in all things. Cold and calculated in the way he executes his moves."

Beckett is the master of his universe, in total control of everyone and everything in his life, until Jenna Blaise unexpectedly re-enters it. She is the one woman who has always been a chink in his armour ... not that she ever knew, or that he had ever admitted. She's the ex of his ex-best friend and he's always been attracted to her, unfortunately she was in the 'do not touch zone.' Now she's available. Can Beckett control his desire for her, or will he give in and go after the one woman who has never wanted anything to do with him. The one woman who hates everything about him.

Jenna Blaise is the most beautiful woman I know, and only a fraction of that beauty has to do with her looks. I'm as attracted to her unpredictability, honesty, and willingness to share herself as I am to her appearance."

From the day she met Beckett Pearce, Jenna has never thought much of him, he was too arrogant, conceited, and controlling for his own good. An unexpected meeting, and her reaction to seeing him has her completely confused ... why had she never noticed just how alphalicious he was? Jenna carries quite a few insecurites, thanks to her family and her ex. Jenna has all the strength and determination I've come to expect from Nina's women, she knew how to stand up for herself when combatting Beckett's controlling ways. Falling for Beckett Pearce was not on her radar, how was she going to deal with these feelings for him?

"What do you want to hear, Beckett?"
"I want to hear you say you want me as much as I want you. Can you give me that?"

An interview photoshoot and a million-dollar date, two things that will change the lives of Beckett and Jenna forever. Chemistry, attraction, and heat, all explosive ingredients in the relationship between Beckett and Jenna, along with understanding, forgiveness, and love. Beckett is a force to be reckoned with in every aspect of his life, and he's exactly the same when it comes to Jenna, however she's equal to the task and gives back to him as good as she receives. I enjoyed the development of their friendship/relationship, the push and pull, the banter, the arguments, the tenderness, and most definitely the heat and sexiness. They complimented each other beautifully. I loved the way they had one another's backs yet were still able to give each other room to breathe and stand alone independently. Of course, every good romance must have some drama and anguish to overcome, and Nina provides that in the form of Declan James, oh what a snake in the grass he is!!!!

" ... when I want something, nothing gets in my way or scares me off."

BECKETT PEARCE
has joined my list of favourite Nina novels. With its two main characters who are fiercely independent and stubborn, yet light-hearted and vulnerable, this romance appealed to me in so many ways. I love Nina's writing, it's always strong, but allows for emotions that enable me to connect with. She has the ability to draw me in and want to read about the lives of her characters. She is also able to throw in humour amid the drama to provide moments of fun.

BECKETT PEARCE was a thoroughly enjoyable read from this crazy talented author, it just HAS TO BE READ.

Next in line is Jameson Fox, and after the brief sneak peek of him ... he's definitely a man I'm looking forward to meeting. Maybe he can move King?

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

I've known Beckett Pearce for two years. I've dislike him for just as long. He's been voted New York's most eligible bachelor twice. And it's not just his billions they want him for. He's an eleven in a ten world, but I can't imagine anything worse than dating him. He may have money, power, and good looks, but he's also arrogant and infuriating. Get here I am. On a million-dollar date with my ex's best friend.

This book is great and trust me when I say your kindle is going to run a little hot. Beckett is for sure a super hot alpha and Jenna is the woman who dares to stand up for him. She actually can't stand him and he use to be her ex-boyfriends very best friend. She has no trouble putting him in his place and pushing him to be a better person. For his part he loves when they have some deep discussions, adores sharing desert with her and it only took him a million dollars at a bachelorette auction to figure all of this out. She was less than thrilled when she was auctioned off and Beckett was the winner. She's spent the entire time she has known him cursing the day he was born. She hates him with a passion that runs deep and is convinced he is a rich heartbreaker and wants no part of that. But he has always adored her from afar. This is one date that leads to so much more and it is hilarious and smoking hot. You do not want to miss this one I really loved reading this one and it is the perfect book to snuggle under a blanket and read.

Jenna has a lot of friends in her corner as she navigates life as a stylist, with gruelling challenges and finding her own feet.

Beckett, the sexy Billionaire, has everything a person might want... charm, personality, money but he has been emotionally wounded by betrayal from a person he trusted, leaving him feeling hurt, raw and desperate for vengence.

Both are damaged by their past relationships so is love even a possibility?

The story was well-crafted. I admired the characters, the way they are written, embracing hardship, their will to succeed and to overcome problems.

Each chapter I read felt like a scene from a film. The novel had a solid beginning, riveting, interesting and an emotional middle, and a strong ending.

The steamy scenes were believable. not overdone, and it was enticing and entertaining.

I really enjoy @thetea_gasp gossip sections. What a lovely unusual addition to a story; in a time when social media drives a lot of people's lives, I thought this light-hearted gossip was amusing, and something that people might see as fun, relatable.

I admire the authors realism, the fierceness with which she defends her characters, and the roller coaster of emotions she takes me on, everytime I read her books.

This book is among my favourites.

Sweet but boring

I really really loved the relationship between Jenna & Beckett … however this story was really lacking in building up to something climatic.. There was so much that could have happened and in the end what was suppose to bring on the emotion is when Jenna “attempts” to break up with Beckett so he can get a contract for work .. which lasts all of 2 days .. now don’t get me wrong I really did enjoy their relationship and the dialogue between them I just wanted more emotion it seemed silly what they ultimately fought over and I don’t know I just wanted more.

NINA!!! Girl, your billionaires are out of this world. Beckett Pearce is an absolute god of a book boyfriend and I want to be Jenna when I grow up. It should be “noted” that I will take Bossy Beckett and Growly Beckett any day of the week. Jenna was not the only one who felt in disarray. Any one else feeling like dessert? 😋
This book, these two, seeing familiar faces is *chefs kiss* Beckett and Jenna are couples goals and Nina has me foaming at the mouth for the next Billionaire to luve (lust/love)

Jenna dated Declan, Beckett’s ex-best friend for two years. Turns out he screwed them both over. Jenna views Beckett as controlled, focused, disciplined, and discreet. He comes from old money. As does she, but personality wise they are oil and water.

As Jenna is moving on, a work photoshoot throws them together, which goes completely sideways. And, brings them back into each other’s orbits. Their connection thru Declan proves to be both a blessing and a curse.

Jenna finds herself on a auction block and Beckett bidding on a date with her. Beckett who hasn’t dated in the two years since his divorce, but instead just enjoys the samples. One date turns into a dare and a chase for date number two. Which has them admitting more than either is comfortable with, but there is no going back.

Although, they have known each other for two years, they have so much to learn about each other still. They jump in feet first and move their relationship at warp speed. Jenna keeps showing Beckett that she is the woman he wants by his side.

Jenna is building her brand and Beckett has all the faith in her abilities. So much so that when her world comes crashing down around her thanks to Declan, Beckett will stop at nothing to help and be supportive.

This book was a fun read with low angst and extremely high chemistry. From the friend texts, sexy texts between Beckett and Jenna, their banter, their support of each other when dealing with their family drama, and giving one another firsts they have never had before had me hardcore swooning and falling in love just as fast and hard as they did.

I love when a book surprises me and that’s what happened with Beckett Pearce. This series is named after each of the heroes and Beckett proved to be the swooniest of all. Our heroine, Jenna, was such a breath of fresh air and I loved how self-assured she was in what she felt she deserved, how she wasn’t afraid to voice what she wanted, and how she went after her goals.

Jenna was dating Beckett’s best friend for two years and he betrayed them both in the worst way. But I love a redemption story and their mistreatment by the same man and how they rose above it and found love with each other was inspiring. They didn’t have to compromise their values or stoop to his level, they just told the truth and everything unfolded just as it should have.

Jenna had preconceived notions about Beckett and I so enjoyed the bantering between these enemies to lovers. I admired how she was willing to admit when she was wrong as actions speak louder than words and he proved what a stand-up guy he was time and time again.

So much happens in this story and I just truly loved their journey. I loved how once they were intimate that they were a couple, there was no one else for either of them. He really listed when she spoke her feelings. Loved how they made each other a priority and were there through the good and the bad. Love their character growth and how they supported each other and were understanding of their job demands and family dynamics.

Beckett was all alpha, but was a puddle of mush for Jenna. He was so generous and giving and always put her first, doing what he could to make her happy. And let me tell you these were some of the hottest love scenes I have ever read, and I read every single day. Lots of hotness happening between the sheets, and in the kitchen and everywhere else!

Loved the injection of the “gossip column” and a view five and ten years into their future. Looking forward to the next book in this series and hope we get more of Beckett and Jenna.

Main protagonists Jenna and Beckett are relatively familiar with one another, at least they thought they were, at one point Jenna was dating Beckett’s best friend, however that relationship ended when she discovered that he’d been cheating on her throughout their entire relationship, Beckett’s friendship with him has also come to an end, not only was his ‘friend’ stealing from him, he was sleeping with his now ex-wife too. It’s safe to say both parties have been left with scars thanks to their previous partners' misdeeds, and they both have misconceptions about one another, but when Jenna reluctantly finds herself being auctioned off for a date at a charity gala it’s Beckett who digs deep into his pockets and places the highest bid, despite how it may have come across before, he’s always had a bit of a thing for her, now that they’re both single maybe there’s a chance of something more developing between, they've certainly got a connection and spark fly as they banter back and forth. Can these two make a go of things or will the history they share cause no end of problems? It doesn't look like it’s going to be easy for them, with a smarmy ex, cunning females lurking around and pleasure causing problems for business, these two will have their work cut out for them.

Another fantastic release from this author that will have you captivated from start to finish, I highly recommend that you add this to your reading library, you won't be disappointed.

Oh my gosh did Nina Levine deliver in a HUGE way with Beckett and Jenna❤️❤️ The chemistry between these two characters is the best I have ever read…EVER!!!!! I loved how Beckett was not afraid of showing Jenna his love for her. Jenna has known Beckett for two years through her ex and she was not fond of him because he is bossy and Beckett loved to rile her up anytime he saw her. Even though she doesn’t really look forward to spending time with him she doesn’t shut him out either and once they start getting to really know each other she realizes she had him pegged all wrong. The banter between them is my favorite part of this book, I mean who doesn’t love great banter???? I also really enjoyed reading the gossip from @thetea_gasp, those were some of my favorite little tidbits and so different than anything I’ve read before! I could read their love story everyday and never get bored of it, I fell in love with Beckett and Jenna and they will be on a frequent reread list for me. Nina Levine never lets me down and every time I think there is no way for her to top a book, she does and she does it flawlessly!!!! If you have not read this book grab a cup of tea, a warm blanket and a quiet place, then curl up and prepare to fall in love with Beckett and Jenna….trust me you will thank me!!!! P.S. Beckett is not as bossy as Ashton but holy hell the growling he does is HOT AF🔥🔥🔥

Book three of this series gives us Jenna Blaise and Beckett Pearce's entertaining story. I enjoyed the spiky relationship these two have the back and forth banter was fun to read. Jenna has always viewed Beckett as this annoying guy who pushes all her buttons. His best friend is now his enemy and Jenna is his ex which always made her the woman he looked at but never touched.

A chance meeting between them changes how they see each other. The chemistry between them is everything, I was so there for the little touches that last longer each time and the looks that could set a building on fire. Beckett gets top marks for his determined pursuit. My favourite thing was the way he treats her as desirable and someone to be cherished but her independence and success was never compromised. I loved that this was a couple who actually talked to each other and built a strong foundation for a lasting love affair. The secondary characters were both fun and provided some drama to the story. My only little gripe is that I would have liked to see a but more of what their future looked like but that's only because I liked them so much. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This series continues to amaze me and Beckett & Jenna’s story is no different Nina has written another incredible book….

Beckett on the surface is a wealthy guy one you think is totally into his looks and can get any woman he wants which is true for the most part, but he has a heart which he doesn’t show others to often only those he cares for. Whilst doing a photo shoot he doesn’t want to do he meets Jenna an ex ex friend who quite frankly hates him….

Jenna is a stylist that’s her business and a successful one at that, her family aren’t fully onboard because they don’t see it as good for the family name it’s all important to them…Jenna not so much but can’t seem to tell her parents that. She’s driven to build her brand but an ex boyfriend keeps making things tough for.

The ex boyfriend to Jenna and ex best friend to Beckett could be a fly in the ointment but also what brings them closer….

I enjoyed every minute of this story and can’t wait for the next book 5 star read… ❤️

Beckett Pearce will blow you away for sure. He has been through a lot the last few months and he's still better than ever. He is a tough-as-nails in the business world and gets what he wants. And right now it's his ex-best friend's girl. He has always had a thing for Jenna and the way they bicker back and forth. Now though she's about to get thrust into his life and well she's none too happy about it. The last thing Jenna wants to do is deal with her ex's best friend, but that's exactly what is happening. Now they are forming a friendship and trying to navigate a date that Beckett paid for. But it's more than that with these two. The way they banter back and forth to the way they love fiercely. But when her ex does the unthinkable can their lives be salvaged? Oh, this book has it all and will not disappoint.

This was so awkward - like how many times can one character say "give me orgasms" and also why is that a sentence to begin with?? Also, trust your readers to read into the character - you do not need to take two paragraphs to explain why it is a big deal the mom was slightly supportive, the readers got that just by the shocked feeling Jenna had (this is one example, but sooooo many things were over explained in this book like ya I know, I get it thanks please move on). Did not like anything about this - so awkward, so forced, so fake.

Just a meh. Nothing spectacular and in fact some parts were annoying. Light on drama and action. Beckett was a little flat and everyone was a millionaire at least. But I give it 2 stars for not doing the insta thing. Pass.

Beckett Pearce is truly the ultimate in love/hate relationships. The title character, aka Bossy Beckett, is the bane of Jenna Blaise's existence. Or so she thinks. Despite knowing each other for years, particularly when she was dating his former best friend Declan, they perfected verbal sparring like it was an Olympic sport. Now that both are unattached, imagine the shock when they are suddenly paired up for a friend's magazine shoot and sparks start to fly between them. Jenna may have not ever thought of Beckett as anything but demanding and downright annoying, but he always knew she was something special. He just had to find a way to let her know.

This is quite the book. Very lengthy, Nina Levine thoroughly fleshes out all the back and forth between Beckett and Jenna in order that they can have that happily ever after each couldn't find before. With all the push and pull, there were times I didn't think they could make it. In fact, I didn't feel their connection until they were most definitely a couple and each lets down their guards a bit like never before. These are two very stubborn and driven people. Beckett's business is well-established and he is quite impressive with all he has accomplished. Jenna, on the other hand, is striving for more and wants to propel her successful yet smallish company into the next level. Each somehow makes the time to see where their unexpected love affair might go, first as Jenna is 'won' by Beckett at a charity auction and they go on a date or two. What neither really expected was that they would find their true soulmate in the other and have the time of their lives while doing so.

Although there could have been fewer chapters, I honestly wouldn't know which ones should be cut out. Every detail was a link that needed to be added as Jenna and Beckett find true love with each other, one crazy moment at a time. I think for me, however, that lack of chemistry early on almost put me off a bit, but I will say that I was much happier with the latter half of the book when outside forces tested this romance and gave it the angst I was looking for.

Overall, it's a great addition to this series of wealthy alpha males who find their perfect match in a woman who is just as strong-willed as they are. Beckett and Jenna fit that bill to a 't' and I'm as satisfied as they are at how it all turned out.

4 solid stars!

She just had to do it! Predictable!

Third act breakup. Enough said.

But I'm going to say more because I kinda want to rant.

I liked Beckett throughout the book and he certainly carried this book for me. Alpha, sure. He was solid (and sexy!), the kind of dependable I love in my male MCs.

Jenna, however, was a disappointment. She was honestly giving me Eva Lauren Tramell Cross vibes initially (#GIDEVA FOREVA) until I realized that she was totally wrong about Beckett (it boggles the mind how she formed her misconceptions about him). What I liked about her though, is how she knew how to accept and apologize when she realizes she was wrong. BUUUUT, everything else she did felt over-the-top, like the author was trying so hard to make her unique - the way she dresses, her swearing inappropriately (not a lot), the dancing in the kitchen, sunrise, blah blah. (Okay sure, give the girl a NLOG pin already!) The worst thing she did though, was try to make herself a martyr in their relationship. And then she has the gall to cry and be dramatic about!

Boo hoo, I'm heartbroken huhuhu. I'm miserable.

I stare at her through my tears. “How do you fix a heart that is actually broken?”

🙄

This pisses me off because if you insist on breaking up with your boyfriend (even though he's adamant he doesn't want to) so he can "save his business", then to me you're just doing something totally unnecessary and there's no good reason for you to cry because you fcking brought it on yourself!

“I won’t come between you and your company, Beckett. Don’t ask me to.”

“I’m not. I’m asking you to stay and talk, and to understand I have the resources to win this contract without you walking away.”

Beckett should have just moved on and let her suffer. I wouldn't have liked him if he did that but, I'm just saying, I would've totally understood.

There was a section in the book that gave me GidEva flashbacks for real - the weekend getaway to the Hamptons, then going back to busy work on Monday, having lots of sex in between, etc.

Would I recommend? No. Unless you've read this review and you're still okay with it then by all means go read it.
