Have we met? No? Well it's time to end that tragedy.

Yep. A turtle. You read that right. Don't be jealous.

This has a little bit of a “Pretty Woman” vibe to it, which I love! The author writes a funny but passionate love story. Aton was a bit of a jerk in the beginning, but later redeemed himself. While Ashley finds her life a bit out of control with the illness of her mom and the expensive cost of the treatment. She’s out of options until she becomes an escort and meets Aton. What happens with this couple as time goes by is more than either could have imagined. Feelings come into play. This was a quick little read with two good-natured characters. They both were lonely, and when faced with heartache, realize that they do belong together no matter how different their upbringings were. Such a feel-good love story…
As good as the story is in theory, the writing made it PAINFUL for me to read, I felt like I was reading a first draft in some ways. Everytime I started to really enjoy what was going on I would read a sentence that made me go ‘oh that doesn’t sound right’ and would ruin the fun. It ended up undermining the whole story because everytime I would read anything I would go ‘is this actually what’s going on or is this just poorly written?’ Basically, this book is all telling and no showing. It’s really sad because I liked the idea of everything so bad !!
My one actual big problem with the story : idk about y’all but in this house we do not accept half-assed redemptions for neglectful/toxic family members/friends/… And that is precisely what happened. I have no idea how a parent not spending any time with their child and criticizing everything they do can be perceived as ‘oh but they mean well’, I really don’t. Maybe it’s just personal taste and history but I still am BAFFLED by the fact that they really made this man apologize for telling his mom to go to hell when she was an awful person.

I hate leaving 1 star reviews and I usually love this author. But honestly I had to write this because of how many people gave it more praise then it ever deserved. Ashley projected her own mother's love and issues onto a man with A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT MOTHER. His mother (which I'm loosely using because she basically birthed him and then gave no fucks after) is vile and verbally abusive. Ashley ripped him apart for cutting contact with his mother because she herself has a loving one so obviously he's the problem. I WILL SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE AUTHOR AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THE BACK: YOU ARE ALLOWED TO CUT TIES WITH TOXIC FAMILY WHO DO NOTHING BUT BUT ATTACK YOU AND DRAG YOU DOWN. It's absolutely disgusting that that they tried to magically make all the problems go away by one conversation between mother and son. Poof magically 30+ years of abuse and trauma (that no one ever wants to admit that's what it is) is gone and they can be besties. Lol what a joke. Perpetuating the idea that you have to work out things with toxic family is disgusting and makes the author just as toxic. Set boundaries in whatever way you see fit so that you can have the best life possible. I can't even go into the other things I disliked about the book but this shtick infuriated me the most. Messed up parents mess up their kids. If the kids don't set boundaries and do better the cycle continues. Do better Weston Parker.
Ashley and Aton will grab your heart in this romantic journey. A little Cinderella with a touch of Pretty Woman. What started out as a fake date for his brother's wedding turned into so much more. For someone who had no interest in love Aton sure fell hard. This was a cute story that was an easy read. The characters were well developed and likable. The story was hilarious at times and the ending was great. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author and voluntarily chose to review it
This book was so funny. Very wattpad-esque. I didn’t understand why it was rated so highly then I figured it must be because it was brought out recently. Don’t get me wrong, it was entertaining and I finished it super quickly but it was so vague in every aspect. There was ZERO character development with any of the characters and neither of them were very likeable like I didn’t really care too much about what happened to them. I thought that the plot could have been a bit more original. I mean the idea was ok, but it wasn’t executed well so I think that if the plot was more original, it would be better. Also, there were so many grammar mistakes. I know that sounds dumb but it bothers me so much because I have to reread the same line over and over trying to make sense of it in my mind but it’s just not right you know? Another problem I had was that everything was very fast paced, why were they already together in the first like 100 pages? When books are that fast paced, important moments, like emotional scenes are often neglected. Like when Ashley was telling him about her mother’s diagnosis, it was kinda just brushed off after a few pages. Lastly, there were so many cringey scenes where I just had to giggle because what else can you really do? I won’t lie and say it was unbearable but I can’t believe this book has actually been published. It’s so dumb and unserious.

An enjoyable romance with a nicely paced build up. Ashley and her mum were definitely more likeable than Aton and his mum. An epilogue set when the first grandchild arrives would be a bonus.
Some book tropes are classics. In “Fake It Real Good” author Weston Parker combines a ‘damsel in distress’ with an ‘unemotional confirmed bachelor’ and puts them in a ‘fake relationship’. It’s a romance novel, so it doesn’t require magic to imagine where it all ends up; the magic is in the way the author blends the elements together to produce a wonderfully entertaining and emotional story.
Ashley is a waitress who, because of a family crisis, needs a lot of money quickly. Aton is the COO of a real estate conglomerate who, because of a situation with his family, needs a date for his younger brother’s wedding. He contacts an escort service to hire a professional companion for the wedding events and gets matched with Ashley.
I adored the character of Ashley throughout the story. There were definitely times I wanted to throttle Aton, or at least throw something at him. I thought he was so unlikable, but gradually he became more and more appealing. Both characters grow and change in important ways during the progression of the story. Even when they’re at odds they have great physical chemistry between them. The dialogue and banter between them is done well, as are conversations with other characters. The complicated situations for both Ashley and Aton arise from their respective mothers. I appreciated that we also got to see developments with both of those parents.
This is a highly emotional story that touches on authentic issues most people must contend with in their lives in one form or another. You may seriously need a couple of tissues available when you read the book – and make no mistake about it, it’s definitely a book worth reading.
Another great read from Weston Parker. Love fake romance novels. Watching people fake being in love and slowly start to fall in love is one of my favorite tropes. Loved Aton and Ashley and the path that lead them to get into a fake romance. He needed a date for a wedding and she needed money to help her sick mom. Once they start into their “relationship”, the chemistry and attraction is too hard to fight. Weston has yet again created a world and characters that you will fall in love with and want to visit again and again. You won’t be disappointed in picking this book up or any of Weston’s books.
I loved this book!! The author brings strong characters in Ashley and Aton in this fake relationship/opposites attract romance. Aton needs a date for his brother's wedding and Ashley needs money for her mothers surgery... perfect arrangement. They end up having a strong connection and a steamy chemistry. Wesley Parker does a fantastic job bringing all the feels as he brings them together. It's a true page turner and an entertaining story. Highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Ashley and Aton were awesome! I loved how loving and caring Ashley was. I loved how she helped Aton. They both needed each other. I’m so glad they had each other! 💙 Can’t wait to read more in this series. 🥰
The writing in the first book of this standalone series was choppy. It didn’t flow very smoothly but it kept a forward pace. I didn’t love the dynamic of the main characters and their interactions with the side characters either. I will not be continuing the series.
I just love a good fake relationship story. Aton and Ashley both have their reasons for getting into a fake relationship, and neither can fight the chemistry they have. This book was also well written and the characters well developed.
I received an ARC for my honest review, and I bought it because it was that good.
This book was not it for me. There was no feelings. Overly descriptive for some things (like mentioning how busy/ cold/rich/robotic/rude Aton is with every move he makes) and not descriptive enough for other things. Their first kiss came out of nowhere. The author kept mentioning EVERY CHAPTER how uninterested in each other they are then bam they’re kissing. Then bam having sex when Ashley was so adamant on not being touched during the dates. I get it now how people say ‘man written by a woman’. While this author’s writing isnt bad, I definitely felt a huge difference in the writing style since I usually always read books written by women. He drew the main character to be this rude snobby guy that shows off his money whenever he gets the chance… we all know girls love the rude guy that turns soft cause of her. And the girl was drawn as every guys’ perfect girl. Sassy, pretty, innocent, funny, with an attitude. Perfect body that isnt thin or fat, curvy with boobs and an ass. At least there was no body shaming involved. Also the sex scenes… definitely written by a man. I mean if you’re gonna describe the scene, then be detailed. But nope, barely any foreplay and the sex itself lasts like one paragraph. Might as well not add the scene. Also, the whole book revolves around the brother’s upcoming wedding… yet the wedding get less than a chapter at the very end of the book. I get the author might’ve wanted to build their connection but it would’ve been much better if the wedding happened early like maybe mid book. Then she’d go back to being an escort for a while, not enjoying it cause she misses him. He realizes he’s no longer okay with his life before her. Then they’d get back together. Then we’d get to see him having a better relationship with his mother and her bonding with his mom as well and getting accepted. Overall this book was okay. Had potential.
Honestly, reading Aton was like reading a robot. Ashley was a bit more likable, and had a good relationship with her mom, but overall there wasn’t a lot of depth to them.
-spoilers ahead-
Ok, so Aton is kind of a dick in the beginning, is rude to her, forces her to enroll in school to further his own needs, etc. … and then is sort of nicer and does pay for her mom’s surgery but overall, I don’t see him being deep/a worthy character. Even his brother he says he’d do anything for barely seems like a deep connection to him.
I really didn’t feel anything between them and then bam they were sleeping together. And then he immediately tells her to leave his room and go to a guest room. Ashley’s friend points out this is an asshole move, but she brushes it off and then this repeats? Later on, she visits him at work to bring him breakfast and be nice and he’s super mean and tells her he doesn’t want work people to find out?? Even though he’s been trying to be seen with her other places so their story is believable?
But the most annoying part to me is the end. The whole time he’s coaching her to be his date for the wedding and they stay there for like 5 minutes!!! And then she flips because he’s mean to his mom, and I understand she’s sensitive because her mom’s sick, but every situation is different. His mom wasn’t there for him growing up, belittles Ashley, is rude to him… it’s not your place to judge someone else’s relationship, and then he is the one to apologize!!
So this is all like 90% in and despite feeling like they’re barely at the “like” stage, he says he wants to date for real, and then in the next chapter after a small time skip she’s moving in, and this man has the audacity to say it was love at first sight!!
I don’t buy this one at allll, but 2 stars since I finished it.
Aton & Ashley’s Faux Relationship Romance Is A Sweet Story About Family & Sacrifice!
This book is a Faux Love novel. Faux’s is an exclusive escort agency run by Della, whose intuition helps her successfully pair her clients with just the right girl.
Aton Holland, thirty-four, dresses for success. He is a whiz with numbers and is never unprepared. His clients trust his judgment because he is a man of his word. After getting his degree in business management, years of hard work have Aton poised to be named CEO of a world-renowned real estate agency based in New York City. He worked his way up to COO, and the owner, his long-time mentor Dave White, is all but retired now. Aton is driven to sell more, to expand the business, and to prove to himself that he can make his own mark in the world.
Aton didn’t follow the path his parents had laid out for him. His parents both came from well-to-do families and had managed to increase their combined wealth over the years. As the eldest of two sons, Aton would have been poised to take control of his family’s fortune one day if only he made an effort to appease them. He could have spent his life living large off of the family money, but he had other ideas. There was no love lost for his parents, and he never wanted his younger brother Cameron to resent him for being handed the keys to the family’s wealth, so Aton decided to rebel. A suit may be his go-to outfit but hidden underneath he sports a few tattoos and an attitude.
Aton’s singular focus on his career hasn’t left time for relationships, but he doesn’t feel like he has missed out on anything. He had imagined he might eventually get married, but he isn’t even sure if he will ever slow down enough to make that happen. He has his assistant Finn and his brother Cameron in his life as well as a comfortable home in the suburbs, and he doesn’t need anything more. Unfortunately for him, though, others seem to think differently.
When his younger brother Cameron announces his engagement to Mia, he asks a favor of Aton. In order to safely keep their mother’s attention on the bride and groom, Cameron wants Aton to bring a date along to the wedding and pretend to be in a serious relationship. At the same time, his semi-retirement has given Mr. White a new perspective on life. Aton unexpectedly finds himself receiving life advice instead of the long-awaited promotion he anticipated. With pressure to settle down coming from his parents, Cameron, and Mr. White, Aton begins the agonizing process of finding a woman that can help him sell the lie that he is now in a serious relationship.
Ashley Pierce, twenty-seven, doesn’t have big ambitions. She was never interested in college and isn’t pursuing a career. Born and raised in Queens, she now lives in Brooklyn and works as a waitress. She is close to her mother, who raised her as a single mom. So when her mother needs money for a medical procedure, Ashley doesn’t hesitate to do whatever it takes to help out. Her friend refers her to Faux’s, a legitimate and discerning escort agency that caters to select clientele. With any luck, she will soon have the money needed to get the care her mother needs.
When Aton explains his needs to Della, she has the perfect girl in mind. Ashley is a new hire with the kind of stunning girl next door good looks that Aton’s mother would expect and approve of. Aton is taken by her beauty, but he keeps her on her toes with his gruff attitude. He isn’t expecting Ashley’s sassy comebacks and challenging tone, and it isn’t something he is used to. They both try to keep things above board and professional, but selling the lie requires a little practice. Soon their attraction for one another explodes, but it does nothing to change anything between them. The couple grows close as they build up to the wedding, and the professional relationship they had hoped to maintain is dangerously close to slipping into something more. They each have problems to face while they trudge forward, and they each have some things to learn. Even Aton, with his focus and control, learns that living like an island isn’t all he had built it up to be. The couple eventually finds a happy ending.
Aton and Ashley’s story starts out much like a blind date. Della sets them up together for a job, and neither knows much about the other. They try to keep the walls up, but things have a way of getting personal as time goes by. The story is sweet yet heartbreaking. Ashley is willing to do anything to save her mother, including accepting work as an escort. Despite his cold exterior, Aton has a soft spot for his brother. His years-long difficulty with his parents has had a big impact on his life, but he is finally pushed to address the fallout. Aton and Ashley are both stubborn, but their great chemistry leads to plenty of banter.
Aton and Ashley’s faux relationship romance is a sweet story about family and sacrifice. The story is well-written. The plot is somewhat simple. The characters are complex and real. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Aton and Ashley. I rate this book four stars.
I received an advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Potential triggers for some: FMC mom has cancer and it is a prominent part of the storyline.
Ashley and Aton could not possibly be any more different. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and is the surly COO of the largest real estate conglomerate. She barely graduated high school, works as a waitress, and states she mostly flies by the seat of her pants. The only family she has is her mother, who is diagnosed with colon cancer early in the book. As her mother is uninsured, Ashley scrambles to find a way to come up with a very large down payment needed in order for her mother to get a potentially life-saving surgery. She is hired by an exclusive escort service that involves being arm candy for dates or events, and no sexual contact. The payout is large enough that she will be able to afford the enormous down payment for her mom’s surgery. Aton needs a fake girlfriend for his younger brothers wedding, to keep his meddling mothers attention off of him and on the bride where it belongs. He has no relationship with his parents, but his mother is forever trying to push “suitable” mates on him. His brother asked him to please come with a date to keep their mother in line. As you can imagine, things progressed from fake to real for both of them even if they didn’t notice at first.
My only real issue was the conflict and their “argument”. I’m actually annoyed with her over it still. She completely pushed her own thoughts and feelings about her mother onto him and what she felt he should feel for his mother. She basically belittled his entire life experience with his mother after knowing his mom for a minute period of time. Aton and his brother Cameron were raised by nannies on one end of their mansion and basically only saw their parents for photo ops and holidays. When he decided not to continue in the family business his parents cut him off financially. He earned his money and position on his own. His mother is a snob of the worst kind, and has never been kind to him. But somehow Ashley decided she knew the mother more, and that it was really his fault their relationship was the way it is. The mother treated her like trash at the wedding, and called her a tramp. But when Aton stood up for her, she became angry with HIM for being angry at his mother.
“Did you ever stop to think that maybe she does care about you and that’s why she is meddling in your life? “I asked. “She wants the best for him. Every mom wants the best for her kid. Maybe she doesn’t see it in the nicest way and maybe she doesn’t show it in the way you expect her to, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t care. She’s trying to make you happy. “
My issue with this is that it’s false. Not every mom does want the best for her kid. It’s an unfortunate part of life. Frankly this mother has never portrayed that that is what she desires. She never invested anything in raising them for being a part of their lives. Everything is about appearances. She called Ashley a tramp for crying out loud! Yet she breaks things off with Aton because she cannot see that not everyone has the relationship she has with her mother. And for Aton to listen to Ashley and go apologize to his mother, only for her to completely change her personality and say that she only wants what’s best for her baby boy was beyond belief. We are somehow expected to believe that she instantly went from calling Ashley a tramp to telling her son to go get the girl. 🙄🙄.
Overall a good read, I just wish that there had been a tweak on that conflict.
"Fake It Real Good" is more than your basic fake romance book. It has depth, challenges, family troubles, and more.
Aton Holland is a very wealthy man. He split off from his family and their money to make it on his own, much to his parents' disappointment. He isn't close to them at all, but he still loves his younger brother. That's the reason why he's willing to go to his wedding... even if his brother told their parents Aton had a serious girlfriend who'd also be attending.
Ashley seemed happy enough living her life as a waitress. She didn't have any life goals in mind. Things flipped upside down when she got a call from her mother saying she was sick and needed to go to the hospital. They got the worst-case news: cancer. Her mother needed surgery but didn't have insurance. She didn't have a lot of time to wait, so Ashley needed to find a way to make a lot of money fast.
Both Aton and Ashley learn of an agency that hires escorts to clients who need someone for various reasons. Nothing illegal - just dates, fake wives / husbands, just for the company, etc. Ashley gets hired and paired up with Aton, who requested an escort to be exclusive to him for two months. It doesn't go great at first. Sure, he's young and hot, but he's a bit lacking in the personality department and is a bit arrogant and pompous. Aton is thrown off a bit himself, seeing as she actually speaks her mind and puts him in his place occasionally - something he isn't used to but doesn't totally hate.
Needless to say, they get closer over time. They get intimate (despite the agency's strong suggestions not to), and deep down feelings begin to form. Things somewhat go down, but for the sake of anyone reading this, I won't go into more detail and give away spoilers!
There's no other woman drama, there's no agnst, there's no bullying or even much push and pull. It's a sweet fake romance that slowly grows into more, and neither of them even really realize it until the end.
I enjoyed this book a lot, and it earns the full 5 stars!
i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of Ashley and Aton. Ashley's mother is sick with cancer and they need money for her operation, but they don't have any insurance. Ashley's best friend tells her about Della's company that provides escorts for rich clients. The company is on the up and up and Ashley thinks she doesn't have a choice. Aton is a rich and runs a real estate company. Aton's brother tells him he is getting married and told their parents that Aton is in a committed relationship so their mother will focus on him and his bride and not try to fix Aton up with a suitable woman. Aton told his brother he will find a date that will keep the focus on the wedding and not him. Aton soon realizes that many of the women he knows will want to be serious with him and not agree to a fake relationship, so he calls Della'a agency and tells her he wants someone exclusively. Della sends Ashley to meet Aton and at first she thinks he is rude and obnoxious. Aton demands Ashley be at his beck and call and even enrolls her in fashion school, against her wishes. Ashley needs the money, so she puts up with Aton's attitude. Aton wants to learn more about Ashley and hates that she is closed off from him. They have a connection and amazing chemistry, but Ashley knows it isn't real. Aton finds himself being drawn to Ashley and he wants to be around her more and more. I really liked this book. I liked Ashley, she was a strong woman and stood up for herself. I think she didn't want to care for Aton, but she fell for him anyway. Aton had to learn how to grow up and see other sides of things. I think he was spoiled and was used to people doing whatever he wanted. Ashley stood up to him and he realized he needed more of that in his life. Another great one from Weston.
Ashley is working as a waitress, her mom calls and says she is not feeling and it sounds serious enough to warrant a trip to the hospital. They find out she has colon cancer and does not have health insurance, she needs surgery but they will not operate without part of it up front. She has no idea what she is going to do, her mom is all she has. Her friend tells her of this escort company, to get paid for just dates, no other expectation between client and employee, everything is laid out in a contract.
Aton comes from money, but has made it on his own without any help from his parents and he does not have much to do them. His brother comes to visit him at his office and tells him he is getting married and wants him to be the best man. This means he is going to have to be around his parents during the wedding. Then his brothers hits him with the best news yet, he told their mother that Aton is seeing someone. After trying for several days to find someone he has dated in the past that would be available, he sees an ad for an escort service. Thus starts Ashley’s first job with the service and the exclusive commitment to Aton from this point until the wedding.
As time goes by the lines blur, they have to keep reminding themselves this is short term. The chemistry between the two is hot, but Aton has a habit of ruining the aftermath. I loved the way the story evolved, how Ashley ending up being the best thing for Aton, the only thing to pull him from work.
This story will draw you in from the first chapter. It is a fake relationship romance that will have you full of emotions.
Aton needs to find a girlfriend to take to his brother's wedding so that his over bearing mother will not be on his case. Ashley has just found out her mother is very ill and she needs money to pay for her treatments and surgery.
Aton is a successful business man, he comes from money but he has set out to make his success on his own. He is seen as aloof, arrogant, and all business. No time for a girlfriend or relationship. Aton has to resort to an Escort business in order to find a girlfriend to take as his plus 1.
Ashley is a waitress, who is happy with life since she is able to pay her bills. Now her mother is sick she realizes that she has to do more to get the necessary money to help her mom. She believes in love and family but she has not found the right guy as yet to create her own family, so for now it is just her and her mom. Because she needs this money quickly, Ashley decides to sign up to be an escort.
Reading how these two banter with each other is so fun. Ashley is sassy, Aton is used to everyone just following what he says and not questioning him. How they change/grow being around each other is another highlight in this story.
Ashley has just found out that her mother has colon cancer as if that isn't bad enough she doesn't have health insurance! Ashley who has been scratching a living as a waitress knows that they will not operate without them paying part of the costs in advance of the surgery, what is she to do? But then a friend tells her to go to an escort company where she will be paid for going out on dates with no expectation of anything more by the agency or the clients, it's all sounds above board so Ashley applies.
Aton's family may have money, but he has preferred to go it alone without help from his parents, in fact, he doesn't have much to do with them and that suits him just fine. But when his younger brother comes to his office and asks him to be the best man at his wedding he knows he's going to have to spend time with his parents at least during the wedding.
But the situation is going to be more difficult because his brother has told their mother that Aton's in a relationship! Desperate to find someone to take to the wedding he responds to an ad for the same escort service Ashley has just joined and accompanying him is Ashley’s first assignment with the service, so starts her exclusive commitment to Aton until the wedding is behind them.
Fake It Real Good: A Faux Love Novel 5 Stars I received a free copy of the New York City set steamy romance Fake It Real Good: A Faux Love Novel by Weston Parker and this review was given freely. Lots of family drama, some secrecy, a few steamy intimate scenes, and a story of hope. Taking place in the Fall Season in New York City, this is an emotional and timely instant attraction of seeming opposites full-length novel which incorporates the hard and at times controversial topics of trying to remain independent while living with cancer, the unaffordability of medical care, and the stress of wedding planning while providing a glimpse of a self-entitled and snobbery side of the wealthy. Balance is provided by glimpses of the softening of Aton, Ashley’s love and Faithfulness to her mother, and an ending that offers hope for health for Ashley’s mom as well as reconciliation for the Holland family.
When confident and abrasive New York City-based world-renowned real estate COO Aton Holland scrambles to find a date for his younger brother Cameron’s sudden wedding, he contracts with Faux Escort’s professional companion service only to question their choice of the outspoken waitress Ashley Pierce but at the same time, he is strangely drawn to her.
This is best selling USA author, Weston Parker's, latest page turning steamy story that is a great read. Our heroine is Ashley and she is a feisty young woman who is doing her best to survive and try to pay for medical bills to help her mum who has taken seriously ill. But the type of money that they need is way beyond a waitress's salary which is what Ashley has. But then she meets Aton. He is a gorgeous alpha male and COO of a real estate company whose life revolves around his work leaving basically no time for a love life. He has little contact with her parents and younger brother as he feels that he never met his parents' expectations. But his younger brother is getting married and he asks Aton to be his best man. But who will be Aton's plus one? He decides to use an escort agency and this is where he meets Ashley who has joined the firm in desperation. How soon will a fake affair become oh so real? A passionate story that is believable and so absorbing that I read it in one go. If you love great characters, a fabulous storyline and terrific writing then this is a book for you! I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Most Definitely Recommended
Aton is the eldest son of very wealthy parents. He struck out on his own after college rather than work in the family business which tremendously disappointed his parents. He works very hard and doesn't take time for a social life. His brother Cameron decides he's getting married and soon. He wants Aton to bring a date to the wedding so his mother will pay attention to them. She usually spends her time harassing Aton about his love life. So now where is he going to find a date immediately?
Ashley grew up quite poor and only had her mom. She works as a waitress and barely makes ends meet. Her mom becomes very ill and they finally take her to the hospital knowing they can't afford it. After many tests they discovered that she has colon cancer. She requires surgery and then chemotherapy but can't have surgery until she comes up with a lot of money. She hears about a new employer who supplies escorts for a lot of money. She interviewed for a job and was hired. She is set up with Aton but he wants her for two months so they are very familiar with each other. He doesn't want his mother to figure out that he hired a date. Fun book as they navigate this situation. Both characters are so likeable.
Aton & Ashley: The Logic Behind the Date Was Thin. Nevertheless, They Worked!
Even though the reason need for the fake date was pretty thin, this story worked.
Aton is a very successful businessman who has made his own way int he world due to a schism between him and his parents. When his brother announces he's getting married, Aton needs to find a date ASAP to avoid the fallout from his mother, who is overly critical of the fact that he has not yet married. Enter: Ashley, a sassy waitress who just found out that her mom has cancer and needs a surgery to aid in saving her life. Ashley turns to a dating agency to work as an escort to raise money for her mother's surgery.
Aton grew on my because I really didn't care for him much until he dropped some of his walls. Ashley was a joy from the very beginning and I enjoyed her candor. They really made a good couple once they lowered their inhibitions. However, the plot was very weak and stretched very thin. It was truly the characters performances that saved this book. I love Weston Parker's books but that needed a stronger reason to support the need for Aton to need an escort. Still, a good read.
