The promises were all false–the Fae were never going to let us go
Macha, our cat boy, has finally been found… just in time to be sacrificed in an arena full of Unseelie monsters.
Of course, Lance, Kiernan, and Julian won’t allow that to happen.
Except I’m so frail, I might not survive until they return from their mission.
So now my men have to decide–save me? Or save Macha?
As we become embroiled in a power struggle between the Fae and the human realms, who will help us? Who will make sure we’ll get back to our world alive?
NOTE: Second Chance Life is the final book in the Second Chance Academy Series. It is a dark paranormal romance with more than one love interest. If you like found family, soul mates, and steamy m/m/f/m/m scenes, you’ll enjoy Second Chance Life. Expect angsty action with lots of drama, but I’ll guarantee a HEA.
The sixth book in the series has plenty of heart-stopping action. Amber is weak, Macha has been captured and is in a horrible fae prison, the soul- weave between the five is unraveling, Julian is trying to keep Amber alive and he is slowly fading away. Several rescue missions will go horribly wrong. Can the quint come back together and save their bond and their lives? Will they be able to find the remaining Academy students and get them out of Faerie?
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
This is the first series I’ve ever read of Ella’s, and it was amazing I couldn’t put this book down till I finished it. I love Amber and her mates. The storyline was incredible and the characters were just amazing.
Please Note: Recommended strictly for adults 18+ because of steamy scenes and adult subject matters. Don't read if you're not an adult. If you are, you'll find a love story between a girl and her multiple boyfriends.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. Welcome to Second Chance Academy (or Farkas Academy for Magical Advancement). This is a steamy, slow-burn dark fantasy romance series depicting a spicy love story, full of adventure and excitement. If you like found family, soul mates, and steamy scenes, you’ll enjoy this series. Expect angsty action with lots of drama. A story about a girl named Amber Whitman who was abandoned by her family, and forgotten by her friends, but found by three boys and a cat. The promises were all false, the Fae were never going to let us go. Macha, our cat boy, has finally been found just in time to be sacrificed in an arena full of Unseelie monsters. Of course, Lance, Kiernan, and Julian won’t allow that to happen. Unfortunately, she’s now so frail, she may not survive until they return from their mission. Now her men have to decide, save her or save Macha? As they become embroiled in a power struggle between the Fae and the human realms, who will help them? Who will make sure they’ll get back to their world alive? So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I love how it all ended. I highly recommend to everyone.
Hasty footsteps announced the healer’s arrival. He entered and stopped as if he’d expected me to be out of bed. “I don’t understand. The draft should have restored her strength. Why is she not better?”
“You’re asking me?” Beth’s response was incredulous, but Arnall waved her out of the way and examined me. He placed one palm on my chest and one on my forehead. Then he closed his eyes, and a warm feeling spread in the space between his two hands. But when it reached my throat, there was a clear gap, a coldness.
The healer removed his hands and opened his eyes. “The call from the world beyond the veil is too strong. Only the necromancer has the power to weaken it. My draft gives Amber a reprieve, but she will pass before the next full moon.”
My exhale sounded like an aborted sob. This was it then. The moment I’d feared but prepared myself for. I wouldn’t make it, wouldn’t see my men again.
“Amber. Get a grip.” That was Beth, squeezing my hand so hard, I yelped.
As she continued speaking, her voice rose until it reverberated in the room. “It’s not over till it’s over. There has to be something to save her. She’s still here, isn’t she? Doesn’t that show how strong she is?”
The healer answered calmly. “She is strong. One of the strongest mages, human or Fae, I’ve ever met.”
When you lose your friends to the fae, you have to go get them. That’s why Beth refused to come back when everyone escaped the fae realm. Now It was time to go back and bring everyone that had been stolen from the Academy and taken to the fae realm to have their magic stolen home. Most would die during the extraction process. First and foremost, we have to escape the prison we are being held in. We have been brought in to “protect” and make us agents in the special magical forces. Whoever is in charge needs to be stopped. Corruption runs deep in this entire process. People we thought we could trust, we can’t. Lies are everywhere and the story that the fae can’t lie is the biggest lie of all.
Book six and the action carries on in this amazing series! The continuing storyline is exciting, thrilling and captivating and has you on the edge of your seat the whole read and the characters continue to enthrall as they continue their journeys. It’s a fantastic dark paranormal romance that has captured my attention from the very beginning. The world building is amazing and draws you in and has a plot filled with drama, danger and a whole lotta angst and steam! It’s fantastic!
This is a great conclusion to a series that has captivated me. It is dark, and sometimes things seem completely hopeless, sometimes when things start looking up, there is a huge backwards slide. The plot is intricate and full of surprises, including the conclusion. I was not expecting a lot of this! Loved this one from start to finish. Fingers crossed for a spin off with Beth and her guys....
A lot of loose ends. Some of them, like the Fae king still being alive, I'm willing to let go, since she has another series that will focus on Beth. But there are other ones, like Macha. Why would Farkas have wanted to turn him into a cat? Even his little short story doesn't explain it. Why didn't his dad recognize him? If he's human and non-magical, why was he targeted?
