Overall, I enjoyed the series and am glad to have reread it from the start to appreciate catching up with the end of the series. However, I don't think we needed 23 volumes to depict their relationship and growth.
The beginning and near the end were so frustrating at times because Yuki and Naruse seemed to be stuck in their same old problems: Letting problems build up because of temper tantrums and lack of communication. Like, the whole middle of the series was great when they were finally together and working to be better together. It seemed like they made 10 steps forward as a couple but then went 11 steps backwards once new love interests were introduced. (Btw, ) It just seemed that some arcs were dragged out because of the same problems.
However, I do appreciate how the author depicts their relationship over the years. I think this was one of the few manga I've read where it shows all of the ups and downs of being in a long-term committed relationship that spanned from high school to college, especially where they're both in different grades, where it wasn't just one long time skip or a breakup before doing a time skip.
I'm glad I could finally finish the series, but I wish there were some extras on the side couples! How are Usami and Suwa doing? What about
ahhhh finally done with my reread from the first chapter!!! phewww
honestly speaking, it's been ups and downs with these guys (just like their relationship). I've been reading their series since years ago (there was only 20-something chapters back then).
I'm glad naruse and yuki found each other, that they completed each other with their unique personalities too, like who would've thought they'd be a match right. And I'm glad to see their character developments albeit it's too slow for my likin sometimes. but yeah they did it they got married and be happy.
still, i would like to point out that i think it's better to not prolonged hakamada's obsession with yuki like that tho. it would be nice too focus on their developments on basketball too. and let other side couples have their own stages. they're pretty cute like usamin and himiko, the captain and natsumi, suwa and usami fuuka, hence i would be happy if you show me misuzu captain kira more than having to deal with hakamada's homewrecker tendency.
if the mangaka introduced someone new as hakamada's new loveline it would be so much better so we can see them playing basketball more.
also my issue with yuki is ik she's developing but sometimes i think it's too slow, like they've been dating for months and even years and she still sucks at communicating. i mean atp she has to have more courage to speak freely with naruse about their relationship right??? so yeah i feel like they're stuck, they're moving but at the same time it feels stuck.
but yeah n e ways i still love them I've been with them for years would love to see the ryuuhoku, misuzu and osaki gang together again.
It’s over! I definitely don’t think that the series needed to go on this long… I didn’t care for the ending. I knew that I wouldn’t like it once Naruse was offered a chance to go abroad… So shojo typical. I really hated that they were being weird about it, saying they can’t even video call each other. Also, why can’t they “become better people” together???? Why must he go abroad for Yuki “to grow as a person”? I hate that trope. It would be better to show the struggle of a long distance relationship vs time skipping to them reuniting. It doesn’t make it worth it for the readers.
Anyway, I give this series a 3/5 stars. The art is okay. The story isn’t captivating. Just back and forth fights, love triangles and some basketball thrown in the mix. It was really a struggle to finish it but I’m a perfectionist so I couldn’t NOT finish it lol. Also, the characters were okay. Naruse wasn’t my favorite at the beginning but he grew on me. I like Yuki because we are similar. But Hakamada was my favorite character. I wanted to see more for him. Why couldn’t the mangaka humor us with a chapter of “what if Yuki picked Hakamada instead”??? Lol
I will review everything here then later review each volume individually (if I remember haha) when I reread them.
Sooo ya I loved all of it. I loved Naruse of course. And overall the whole series. I think it was pretty realistic in showing relationships and all that happens in them.
I liked Usami and Suwa but felt like that whole thing with Suwa and Yuki was totally unnecessary and kind of pointless. Or the points it was therefore could've been made with involving him and Yuki.
I also liked the fourth year and the other manager.
And because he got these two side relationships I don't see why we didn't get one for Shizuka. I really would have liked to see him move on and find his special person. I definitely feel he deserved that considering all he did for Yuki and, like I said, considering we saw other people's relationships.
Lastly, I would've liked it if Naruse had found a different profession other than basketball.

Ending thoughts of series over all. Both MC are frustrating at different points with not miscommunication just lack of it. There is a a lot of what I would consider dub/noncon events. Just taking kisses, groping, sex when she is drunk or doesn’t seem that into it. I truly wish we ever actually got a scene where she was into kissing him or sex. It was very few maybe 2 that I can think of. But once we got more side characters that weren’t just rivals to creat jealous between the characters I enjoyed it.
For the people who managed to push through... how is the ending? Did the series get better? Please spoil me because I have to think if the ending is worth going through the frustrating plot one more time (I have forgotten a lot)...
yuki and shou were truly precious. overall i enjoyed namaikizakari, it was dragged at some point, i wish i saw more depth in some situations, but honestly this manga was waiting me for years and finally last week was the right time to read it.
Sabrina, note to your future self: GIVE NARUSE (SHOU) AND YUKI YOUR BEST REVIEW EVER BECAUSE SABRINA OF THE PRESENT WANTS TO PRINT THE MANGA AND PAPER IT ALL OVER THE ROOM
Ah, at last. Finally done with this manga series. Such a fun ride this was. Loved every moment of reading about their journey from high school to college to marriage. Awesome.
