Snowed In at Jingle Falls

Rate this book
Harper Larson loves everything about Jingle Falls, especially her job as the book buyer for Narratives Bookshop, where she basically gets paid to read all day. Even if she has to deal with her ex dressed as Santa and an entire town rooting for them to get back together, at least she's not in her stressful publishing job any more, where one huge mistake sent her running.

Nolan Fox hates everything about the current crime series he's writing, especially the lone-wolf detective star of his series whose closed-off personality is feeling a little too biographical. The one bright spot of writing his series had been when Harper was his editor, before she fled New York without explanation.

When Nolan arrives in Jingle Falls, Colorado, hoping to convince Harper to come work in New York again, he doesn't expect a blizzard to shut down the only road out of town. Or to get roped into planning a small-town, joy-and-color-filled winter festival with Harper Larson. Or to fall in love.

The only problem is, once the road opens up, he can't stay in Jingle Falls. And she'll never leave.

Nolan Fox came to Jingle Falls for a book signing. Harper had worked at the publishing company in New York that published his books. Things didn't work in her marriage, so she moved back home to Jingle Falls. She worked at the bookstore her sister owned where the book signing was taking place Nolan recognized Harper as soon as he saw her. This book was very hard to put down.

I received a free ARC, and this is my honest opinion.

I loved this book from the start. I wish Jingle Falls was a real town. I would love to visit. Nolan and Harper are a great pair. Harper and her parents helped Nolan see what community is really like. Nolan see Harper in the best light and helps her see it. This is a beautifully written love story.

Sometimes you come across a book you never knew you needed until you read it, and you realize it’s exactly what you needed at this moment in time. I’m not going to lie, this Christmas has been highly stressful for me for very ordinary reasons. I’m tired and the to-do list, and the excess is sapping my joy.

I came across Snowed in at Jingle Falls during my Kindle Unlimited trial and it’s the perfect book and bookshop-centered, festive, hopeful, moving story I needed to escape the reality of the holidays, and to envelope myself in the magic of the season we all hope for. I absolutely loved the town, the characters, the Christmas festivities, the coziness, and especially the mention of all the real books throughout the story. I became a huge fan of the main character and how she figured out what she loved in life and changed her path, despite the allure and success of a big New York city publishing career. I bonded with her over her reading obsession and longed to visit her and her sister’s bookstore, Narratives.

I was inspired and cheered by this short holiday read and can’t recommend this sweet story enough.

What a perfect story to read during the holiday season! I practically shivered at the icy beauty of Jingle Falls as the storm left the town without power but the author warmed me right up with the coziness of hot chocolate, a roaring fire in the fireplace, the warmth that comes from kindness and hospitality, as well as the discovery of true love beginning to spark. Nolan was an appealing character—so well-developed that I was rooting for him as he learned to trust in the love and acceptance extended to him and began to let down his protective walls. Harper was such a good match for him and I loved her bookish ways. I was sad when the book ended and hope we might learn more about Jingle Falls in future installments in this series. I received an ARC and this voluntary review contains my honest opinions.

The perfect book for a booklover. Harper used to be an editor and worked on a couple of Nolan Fox's books. Nolan is in Jingle Falls for a book signing at Narratives Book Store owned by Harper's sister. The descriptions of the winter weather were wonderful. The whole festival experience makes you feel like you are right there. Love Harper's exuberance about the books she has in the shop and the ones in the subscription box. I loved this book.

I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I adore books about books, too!

*Warning: Review contains spoilers.

General thoughts:
- This book was really fun and relatable! I laughed a lot, and I enjoyed the romance (messages from such: “find attraction that includes personality, intellect, AND physicality”; “find someone who makes you a better and livelier person”; “holding hands and eating are of equal importance!”; and “realize that the girl is, and should be, more to you than only book inspiration,” haha…) and the setting --- Jingle Falls specifically, but also the state that it’s set in, which is Colorado. I am from there, and so I can say that all of the stuff about the snow in this book is accurate!
- The book also has nice sensory inclusions about the warmth and the food and things like that; analogies toward snow globes and The Grinch, etc. (see also “favorite passages” below); themes about family, braving new forks in the road despite life not going as planned, and how all of the hardest things take a while but are worth it; and even a pun!

Thoughts on the bookish themes:
- I definitely loved all of this category, considering that I am also an author and copyeditor like Nolan and Harper are! There’s fun book lingo like ARCs. There are seamlessly-woven-into-the-plot real book reviews included. There are the feels of “you know a guy’s the one if you like him more than reading…!”; Harper’s mom having Nolan’s character as a fictional boyfriend; whether one is a monogamous reader or not, haha; how truly fun it is to talk about characters as if they are real --- they are to most authors, after all!!; matchmaking people to books, yes…!; and writing both with depth --- because that’s the best kind of writing most of the time --- and for more than just the sell (AND how books still have worth outside of that issue!) I also loved the agenda that I agree with about how each of us should make reading more than only a chore (and writing, too, in Nolan’s case; I love what his purpose for writing is! I would love to know that I ever did that for sure, and I can say now that I know that Kaylee Baldwin does that) and also about reading books in a diverse amount of genres for the best empathy and growth.
- Seriously --- except for the part about figuring how many of each book to buy for the store, ‘cause I’m not sure that I would be good at that, I would totally want Harper’s bookstore job; it does sound pretty heavenly! Even her attic room sounds not so bad and seems more like what you’d find at a grandparent’s house, haha. I just need an Avery to help me. Please? I will totally buy one of your Emily Dickinson bookmarks!
- Also, the only thing about Nolan and his author career that was unrealistic to me is that this book makes it sound like Nolan is making his entire living through writing. That happens to, like, no one in real life, even the top bestsellers. It’s very sad but unfortunately true! I wish that that weren’t the case…! Sometimes, I wonder if the average person knows what goes into to making these stories that contain blood, sweat, and our whole hearts…Kind of reminds me of “Poet to Patron” by Langston Hughes that I was reading yesterday…

Thoughts on the characters:
- Okay --- I promise you that I don’t know Kaylee Baldwin. This is even my first time reading one of her books. And Harper and I do contain a good amount of differences between us still. But…I almost feel like saying, “Did Kaylee write about me??” Not only do I relate highly to Harper’s bookishness, but I also relate to things about her like how she needs people AND quiet (I get you, girl!), her feeling like a screw-up even if it’s not true, and how her type of loneliness works. Even Harper Larson as a name has a nice flow of consonance to it! So I think this main female protagonist was planned very, very well! I really like her.
- I promise that I really liked and related to Nolan, too, even if all extra I have to add here is that he almost ended up being to his books the way that Harrison Ford has become to Star Wars, haha --- but also “aww…”! It’s an interesting kind of workplace burnout to explore: author burnout…
- Harper’s mom was also almost the token “matchmaker mom,” which I wouldn’t have minded, haha. But then I realized that she was WAY too oblivious to Harper’s and Nolan’s ACTUAL budding romance to possibly fit that role!
- Can I just say that I love Georgia?!
- Even Lucas ended up okay for me! I like that different buildups and details in the story redeemed him from only being Harper’s stupid, always-around ex.

Favorite quotes:
“…Frog-thoughts leaping about from lily pad to lily pad in his brain…”
“…Like Eeyore’s cloud over the Hundred Acre Woods…”
“…Was life only about needs or was there room for wants too?” (Also highly relatable)
“…Reading became an anchor…As long as he had a backpack of books, he knew he’d be okay.”

Overall, this is a really great introduction to Kaylee Baldwin for me! I’m excited to read more from her eventually! And I know that this is easier said than done, believe me, but I do wish that this book would be made into a paperback; usually, that’s how I come back to books and share them with others and prefer to own them.

I’m really glad that I got to read this book at all, though, and I would totally recommend it to anyone who likes other clean romance authors such as Sally Johnson, Catelyn Meadows, and Chelsea Curran!

Also, because I’m apparently crazy and obsessive when it comes to writing thorough book reviews that no one may ever read…uh…adding this last adieu certainly couldn’t hurt after the book that I just wrote about a book!

My mental soundtrack (aside from Christmas music, of course):
Harper and Lucas --- “Hate That You Know Me” by Bleachers
Nolan --- “I Only Wear Black” by the Wombats
Nolan about wanting to kill Lucas off in a book (haha) – a non-romance version of “Writer in the Dark” by Lorde

Check out this book today!!

Snowed in at Jingle Falls is such a beautiful and magical Christmas story of love, strength, and hope. The sense of community and trust in the book is so wonderful and fitting for a small town sweet romance. Christmas is all about giving, love, and miracles and while this book wasn't the typical "everyone gets EXACTLY what they want" it was an everyone gets exactly what they NEED, kinda story.

You will adore this wonderful book and I highly recommend it to boost your mood. I was having a fairly difficult week and this story helped me push through and feel so much hope and get me excited for decorating for Christmas this weekend. The characters are fantastic and have so much defined personality to each of them that you truly begin to feel like you know each one. The town sounds so lovely and peaceful, yes even during a big storm. But my favorite part is the bookstore, it sounds like heaven for someone like me, I'm already wishing I could sign up for the subscription box to Narratives.

Kaylee Baldwin is a new to me author, along with this series. However, after finishing this book I look forward to going back and reading more of hers and reading the rest from the Snowed In For Christmas series. It is clean, sweet, magical, and helps put that extra sparkle in your step today. So go put on some soft sweet Christmas music, grab your favorite drink (mine was raspberry hot chocolate, of course haha), and find your favorite cozy blanket, enjoy Snowed in At Jingle Falls.

Wow! Harper and Nolan - who would have thunk! Harper loves her job as book buyer, and she reviews books and recommends books. She's a former book editor, but no more - because of Nolan. Nolan is an author. She missed a major problem with his books and quit editing for good, but he's remembered her and wants her to be his editor again. She refuses each offer. Nolan is so tired of the character he writes, but has so many fans. He is always trying to kill him off... He thinks Harper would assist him in making writing fun again. And the way they fall for each other is so beautiful. I loved this book store and this town and its traditions. Each person in the town has the best interest out for their neighbors and those visiting. I loved the sense of community and the depth and breadth of each character. It was a pleasure to read!

This was a great book to read. Harper lived in the New York working as an editor. After what was deemed a huge mistake she quit and went back home to Jingle Falls. She was working at her sister's bookstore and loving small town life.
Nolan Fox is an author that is looking to find this passion for his character again. He comes to Jingle Falls for a book signing. Harper remembers him from New York and hopes he doesn't remember her. However he knows exactly who she is and wants to get to know her better. They learn that they have more in common than they thought and learn to find love and happiness.

I loved this sweet, clean, wholesome contemporary winter romance. I found the story refreshing and uplifting and thoroughly engaging.

Harper have left Jingle Falls after she married and moved to New York. She worked as an editor at a publishing house where she worked on a couple of Nolan Fox's books. Then she made a grievous mistake and left in shame. She divorced and moved home to Jingle Falls. She was certain that Nolan Fox would never forgive her for the mistake she had made.

Now, he is coming to a book signing at her sister's bookstore in Jingle Falls. She was surprised to find him agreeable and even complimentary about her editing skills. When a blizzard blows in and traps Nolan in Jingle Falls for longer than he expected to be there, he finds that he might just leave Jingle Falls with more than he had expected to. Harper might also find that she could find greater happiness by opening her heart to possibilities, too.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.

Sweet, heartfelt, and very well drawn holiday romance

Romance, sweet, contemporary; series but stand alone read
Harper and Nolan's story was a poignant, reflective and moving holiday romance. Loved Nolan's characters growth throughout the novel, the genuineness, generosity, and caring of the community. The bookshop backstory and setting was a lovely way to bring Nolan and Harper together. Strong character development and beautiful swing made this a wonderful read. Ill be reading more by thus author an chance I get.

A Book Store Employee and Her Favorite Author

I’m a sucker for books about bookstores and authors. I love to see what makes that world tick. Harper used to be an editor in NYC. After missing a dead mentor unexplainably brought back to life, Harper assumes that the author, Nolan Fox hates her. They reconnect at a book signing, and then when he gets snowed in her hometown.

This book had all of the magic of Christmas, the hope of the season, and the power to change.

Content: clean (some kisses, no language or violence)

As a reviewer who has learned to appreciate the worth of a great editor, this story of an author and one of his editors offered great insight into that relationship. A better understanding of that relationship is quite helpful to reviewers as we prepare our reviews. I truly enjoyed this glimpse into the relationship between Harper and Nolan, not just their relationship as author and editor, but the chemistry that blossomed between them due to being stranded by the storm that inundated the community of Jingle Falls. Many great lessons were taught about how people can rise to the occasion and help one another, even as they are disappointed when their best-laid plans are destroyed. I found myself disappointed when Kaylee’s editors dropped the ball by missing at least three errors that should have been corrected prior to publication. Two of those errors involved the improper use of the word “ground,” which is defined as “the solid surface of the earth.” In both instances, a word such as “floor” should have been used. The other involved a missing word that should have been discovered: “His publisher sent him an expensive fruit and nut basket set every time a new book out.” Obviously, it should have stated something like, “…new book came out.” Consequently, editing errors cost Ms. Baldwin a five-star award. Four Stars!

A fluffy, cliched Christmas read

I really like this author, but i was a little disappointed with this book. Quite a few typos. Very predictable plot. And that would have been ok if the story was stimulating enough to counter act it. It wasn't. I wasnt made to fall in live with either of the mc's. As a matter of fact, i had to try hard to like Harper. Her reasons for her divorce felt flimsy at best. She professed to wanting a marriage like her parents, but hadn't been willing to work for hers. And as Lucas pointed out, she had a love-hate relationship with Nolan when she was his editor. Seems to me she'd argue with him just like she argued with Lucas. Although i will say i appreciate the book list. I already put a few of them on my reading list. I liked that it was clean, but all in all it was pretty cliche and not very deep. But if you need a fluffy Christmas read, this may be the one for you.

There is nothing like Christmas in Jingle Falls

Nolan Fox is in Jingle Falls for a book signing and to try to get Harper to return to New York to edit his new book. She is anxious because she made a big error while editing one of his books. When the power goes off and the town is snowed in she takes him to stay at her parents home where they have taken in two other families. As he helps prepare for the Christmas Festival he experiences a Christmas that changes him. Will he be able to change his life or return to New York?

I love a small town story especially one about Christmas. The town and the people working together on the Christmas Festival is moving .. It makes me want to visit and experience all the fun and good will along with them. An uplifting and heartwarming story for Christmas or any time.

This book was an easy, quick, and happy read!

This part had me cracking up.
Her mom’s face lit up. “Oh, what a wonderful idea. He is such a handsome man. And last night, he told me he’s single.” She nudged Harper.
“That’s not what this is. I feel responsible for him being here.”
“Right.” Her mom winked.
“Mom,” Harper said, exasperated. “It’s not like that.”
“I was agreeing with you.” “
Then you winked!”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Her mom turned to walk away, but not before Harper saw her wink again.

Snowed in at Jingle Falls

This is a wonderful and very enjoyable Christmas story. Harper worked as an editor in New York. One of the authors whose books she edited was Nolan Fox. After her divorce she returns to her home at Jingle Falls. She lives above her sister’s bookstore. Nolan has agreed to a book signing at the store over the Christmas holidays. What happens when the blizzard of the season hits while he was there?

This is a good book.
It's about a man, Nolan, who had gone in and out of the foster system and never felt like he had a home until he was snowed in in Jingle Falls.
He actually came to Jingle Falls to see Harper, an editor who used to work for him, but he ended up stuck in a town full of love and acceptance.
This is his story (and Harper's).
Enjoyable book!

I don't live where it snows so this is purely a magical book for me. The setting was a great set up for finding love and Christmas cheer. Nolan is so easy to fall in love with and pulls at your heart strings. Harper is every book lovers kind of gal. I love books about books, which is kind of odd, but true.

Harper runs a small town bookstore where Nolan Fox, a famous author and someone she knew in a previous life, is doing a book signing. But when a big snowstorm hits he can’t get out of town and stays with Harper’s family. What I liked about this novel the most was the bookshop and all the literary references to real, contemporary books. The romance was cute too. This is a fun series.

Snowed In for the win!

Jingle falls is a great place to be snowed in at Christmas!

Love our FMC and her usage of “Delightful” and “Magical”
Give me books about books forever! Because this read wasn’t complex or anything special, I can’t really give it over 3 stars. But some of the moments, the MMC’s backstory, and the author’s clear appreciation for the literary world had my heart soaring.

Harper was one of Nolan Fox's editors. After a big mistake she chose to leave her job and return home to Jingle Falls. Harper loves her life then Nolan shows up wanting her back. When he gets snowed in, he might just have enough time to get his wish...or will he? This is a sweet Christmas romance.

I LOVE Jingle Falls!!!!

Lucas has a place, but it isn't in Harper's heart. Harper's " parental units" (couldn't resist! I hate being called "old-fashioned") could have been MINE. NOLAN turned back; exxxcellent choice. Perfect. Lovely. REAL FEELS.
