Some folk stories are repeated in different forms all over the world. 'The Four Accomplished Brothers' found in the Grimm Brothers' Fairy Tales is one such tale. This story is also found in other cultures with different twists in the story. A tiny tale of how similar stories have different endings based on the people, to whom it is narrated.
Entertaining story with something to learn about the nature of Folklore
I love folktales and this story was new to me even as it was known to the Moravians, the Grimm brothers and found in the Betal Pachisi, a collection of 25 stories. I found myself entertained and will also share the story with my kids. I know this will also increase their love for folklore of this nature. It is a short kid friendly example of how old stories are passed along and changed from culture to culture, much like the book "The Maiden of Many Nations." Keep the entertaining stories coming!
I personally liked everything about this book. The story is well written. I also liked the font used, the description used to portray the four brothers as well as their different personalities and how each one of them handled whatever came his ways while maintaining an unbreakable bond with others. The pictures are so beautiful too and there are so many lessons to learn from the stories. I highly recommend this book!
Although there are similar stories with different twists in this book, what stands out is teamwork. Each the the characters had a different skill but when they all used their different skills together they achieved a common goal. It’s a reminder of the many things we can accomplish, if we all work together!
This is a wonderful folklore about the lives and ambitious of the four brothers. Their lives had a lot of twist and turns but they bonded together in the end. Great things was accomplished because the brothers worked as a team. I loved the water coloured pictures / illustrations on each page, it complimented the story beautifully.
I found this book very interesting to read. It compares different folk stories and how they originated from the same story, but certain details are changed depending on the culture. While it isn’t quite appropriate for my two year old, it would be a good read, especially for further discussion, for older children.
It is amazing how people of different cultures were telling almost the same stories. Actually, this book again confirmed me that we people have the same challenges and the same wishes. No matter where we live and when. Great work!
A very resourceful book giving insights into folklore from around the world, with the message that resonates with other cultures. It's intriguing to see the way similar stories have different endings based on people and culture. Great read!!
I enjoyed reading these short tales. All three stories have the same root, but different endings based on the culture. This is a fun read! I hope the author makes other books about similar tales around the world.
I enjoyed reading the stories in this book. Although certain elements of the stories were changed, the moral of the stories were valuable. I like how the author distinguished the differences between each of the stories.
I like the story, and It was interesting the comparison it with other similar folk stories around the world and see how they differ in who got the princess according to what they valued more
A beautiful compilation of words presented in elegant beauty. This author is tackling and mastering language time and time again. I've been following these workshops and they get better with each project. Good job.
I loved the way the author retold these stories in a different way. The stories are great and the art that go along with the stories is beautiful as well. Loved it.
It is a very short book. It has four stories. The basic story is same but each of them has a twist or difference in the ending. It hardly took fifteen minutes for me to complete.
All very interesting and captivating stories… definitely recommend this book to your kids! My favorite was the first tale! I would read this book again!
