Death was not what Harry thought it would be. An empty train and a being proclaiming himself to be the Death, telling him that, “sorry, no afterlife for you” certainly wasn't anywhere near his expectations.
And having his soul and magic crammed back into his four year old body, being told that he can never die… That was another painful kick to the groin.
But Harry is British, and the phrase “keep calm and carry on” is practically a part of him by now. He realizes that this is a second chance at life. To actually live and do whatever the hell he wants without being someone else’s pawn. It is a new beginning, and things are going to be vastly different this time around.
I actually loved it. There are several timeline issues I noticed and continuation errors in the plot, but I really really loved this. This AU starts when Harry is walking to his death at hogwarts. This time he chooses to go to the afterlife instead of back to the battle. However, him being the master of death and all, he gets sent to his four year old body. I've read a lot of time travel fics and so far this one is my favourite. It spans 7 years up until Harry gets his hogwarts letter. In this time, Harry makes a huge difference both in his own life and other people's lives. It's a bit much considering his physical age but he just changes so much! It was very entertaining. I can't wait for the hogwarts years. Also, I just realised that it'll be 7 years for this first book and 7 years for the second one!
I loved this immensely (and shall be continuing on to the sequel momentarily) but I’m in no position to write a deserved review. I can’t believe this is a first fanfic. Let’s just hope this won’t end up becoming a romance, but it’s great so far and avoided so many pitfalls… and it’s of a decent length with well-cut chapters and only one major cliffhanger.
Marking that I read this and the sequel as the sequel isn’t on Goodreads, this fic is good, but it really comes together in the sequel in a satisfying ending. I also really appreciated the tone of how all the characters were personified.
