Welcome to the guesthouse on the Green, where Mammy and her girls will make you feel part of the family. Settle in and enjoy your stay at O'Mara's, where stories abound, romance lurks and laughter sounds. One of the O'Mara girls is expecting, but who? Mammy O'Mara, upon inadvertently finding out her daughter's pregnant, immediately calls a family conference with disastrous results. At a time when the sisters need each other the most, they're at loggerheads, and for one of them, her future as a single mammy is terrifying.
Bronagh Hanrahan, O'Mara's receptionist, wonders why her beau, Leonard, is reluctant to introduce her to his sister, Joan. Her curiosity gets the better of her, and she takes matters into her own hands. Joan, she decides, is a woman desperately in need of help.
Sometimes you can't fix what's broken, though. Or can you?
Michelle Vernal is a bestselling author of warm, witty, and uplifting Irish fiction. Born in England to parents from Liverpool – often called “Little Ireland” – she grew up on her mum’s tales of Iocal families, music, and humour. Her stories, filled with heart, humour, and unforgettable characters, have earned her a loyal readership worldwide.
As always in this series, a fabulous read. I enjoyed every word and have just started the next book. I love the characters, especially the outrageous Mammy Maureen with her rather naughty poodle, Pooh. I just adore the Irish wit and sayings. They really make me laugh out loud. I hope the series goes on for ever! Pauline
I have read this whole series and loved it. It is so much fun to escape to Ireland and the O'Maras escapades. I have laughed and cried with the ladies, so much fun. Michelle Vernal writes in a way that makes you feel like you are right there . I have read many of her books during this pandemic and so glad that I discovered her books.
I was a bit put off by Maureen O'Mara, she seemed to need to be competing with her daughters for attention. When the focus should have been on Moira and Bronagh's stories. Maureen ruined Moria and Bronagh story. With that said, Bronagh is a kind hearted woman, who will help any one. It doesn't matter if its a stranger or family member, she steps up when its needed. Leonard's sister has a story that is sad, a talented woman who is lost. Stuck in the past by a tragedy that was never resolved. While Moira and Tom can't see eye to eye on the current situation. It pulls them apart, each needing to figure out what is needed. Its up to Moira and Tom to choose the right path or Maureen O'Mara will once again be butting into their lives.
I usually skip the middle sections of books I read, but Michelle Vernal keeps me so entertained with her stories of the O’Mara family that I’ve read the entire book to insure I don’t miss anything.
I laugh a lot at the antics of the characters, but the humor is balanced with true to life situations. I can’t believe there are now 12 books in the series and I’m thrilled to have three more to read.
Hopefully Ms. Vernal writes quickly. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that she will continue the series and not end the saga of the O’Maras.
I loved this book as I have loved all the books in this series. In this one, one of the sisters is pregnant….but which one? Bronagh's relationship with Leonard is moving along, but she still hasn’t met his sister Joan, which is annoying her. She takes it on herself to buy and cake and go and knock on Joan's door. Maureen and Donal are searching for their dream home so they can move in together. So much is happening, I laughed out loud and felt all the feels along with the characters.
Well yet again, what can I say? It was funny, with belly laughs. A real tonic as always. All you need for December in cold, rain, almost lockdown, Britain. Michelle, you hit the spot as always. Roll on May
I have read all the books in this series. I look forward to each new book. I love the characters. I laugh so much and cry here and there. A joyful read with true friendships and kindness. The Irish humour shines throughout and seems so familiar to me. I love Maeve Binchy’s books and these are so similar. Heart warming and definitely 5 star.
I have read all the books of the O’mara family! I have 4 sisters and could relate to this family really well. Lol!! I loved the humor! Maureen is a hoot for sure! Can’t wait for the next book.
Birth order fascinated me. The sisters are exemplai Iry studies. The mama is a Lioness..The whole group are wicked funny and . . real. There is a new Inn in the hood. JOT
Like the previous books in this series, this book has you drawn in from the first line. The interwoven stories make you feel as if you are actually there and are a part of it all.
All I can is, I am not getting anything done!!! I can't stop reading these books. Get yourself a drink, blanket and have your phone near by because once you start you won't be able to stop. Now onto book number 10!!!!!
Can't wait for the next one. Love this series, love the characters and their personalities. I laugh, I cry and cringe with the girls at their mothers antics.
It could use as bit more depth and generational confrontation though. It falls flat at times, and the communication between the main characters superficial.
