Welcome to the guesthouse on the Green, where Mammy and her girls will make you feel part of the family. Settle in and enjoy your stay at O'Mara's, where stories abound, romance lurks and laughter sounds.

Mammy, otherwise known as Maureen O’Mara, has had a lot of changes these last few years. She lost her beloved husband, Brian, had a fresh start by the seaside away from the family guesthouse and took up numerous new hobbies, the most recent being line dancing. But, she’s ready to make one more big change too, because she’s met a man. Not just any man either. A man who makes her smile has her humming country music tunes and tapping her toes to the beat. He’s also someone who understands the pain of losing a spouse.

Maureen would like to keep things as they are, but he’s making noises about introducing her to his family, and she can’t put him off forever. He wants to meet her girls too, but what happens when your children have their late parent on a pedestal? And what will her girls have to say when they find out about their mammy’s new manfriend’s interesting erm, hobby?

Maureen’s Song is book 7 in the O”Mara family series by Michelle Vernal. This book takes us back to Ireland and the O’Mara Guesthouse on the Green that her daughters run.
Maureen had moved to an apartment in the small town near her family’s guesthouse. She had decided upon the death of her husband to sell the Guesthouse unless her children wanted it. Her son, Patrick, wanted to sell hit so he could get his money out. The girls preferred to run it together. Patrick in his anger, ran off to America to make his way. When Aisling got married, he returned to Ireland for that happy occasion and “borrowed” $10,000 from his Mother. She was now wondering if she would ever see any of it back. She couldn’t help it, she was a pushover when it came to her son.
However, he wasn’t what she was concerned about now. She had been steppin’ out with a widower, Donal. Donal was very serious about where their relationship was going. He wants their dating out in the open and wants her to go to dinner with him and his girls. He thinks it is time for his daughters to meet Maureen’s daughters. She just has no idea how her girls will react. She doesn’t know how they will react to his “other job” either.

Fun and Funny

The O’Mara family made me laugh with their sibling teasing and their mom’s admonishments, all of them spunky and real. The book is a slice of Ireland and a really fun read. The writing could use some editing, though, as there were numerous punctuation errors in the Kindle version.

Another great book in this excellent series. This one features Maureen or Mo, The Mammy. Since her husband's death, Maureen has been lonely. She’s filled her days with clubs and meetings and crafts, and she has a dog, but after being married all those years something is missing. She meets Donal, and in this book they really get to know each other and become closer.

Maureen’s Song

Another delightful tale from the O’Mara family. Maureen has found a beau, not just any beau, but one who looks and sings like Kenny Rogers. How her daughters react to this revelation is the mist of this story.

Commas

Love the stories and characters, but wish I could be your punctuation editor. As a former teacher, I find the misplaced commas very confusing.

Poor editing

I would give a higher rating had the many errors in punctuation and sentence structuring not been so distracting. Buyers have a right to expect better editing.

This book focused on the mom in the series. It was ok, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as some of the others.
