Down Through The Ages by Frank Gaebelein, Our Hope, 1924, 97 pages
This is a brief survey of the history and impact of the Bible. It is written with the laymen in mind, but there are many tidbits which the scholar will find enlightening as well. Like many writers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the author uses analogies to great works of literature which would be lost on the typical reader today. That is our loss, but with the diligent use of Google, we can readily get Gaebelein’s point. Though I am reasonably sure that this book is out of print, I think it would be a good place to start with a study of the Bible. Well worth reading.
