Heart-Dreamer: Stepping into Life, Love, Creativity and Dreams-No Matter What (SECOND EDITION) by Cheryl Melody Baskin is an enlightening self-help book that I think many people will find helpful in their everyday lives. It contains mental exercises that you can do alone or with a group. She states that when you complete specific activities, don’t seek perfection. “Just allow your creative spirit to flow out of you without self-judgment, overthinking, and overanalyzing.”
Cheryl Melody Baskin includes ways to cope with anxiety, which she admits to having when it comes to public speaking.
She encourages starting each day with an open mind and open heart.
Be patient. Be compassionate. Be optimistic. I agree with her completely! Each day is a new chapter in your life. Enter it with your eyes and heart wide open.
As with Peace Dreamer: A Journey of Hope in Bad Times and Good, Cheryl included testimonials from the “Shift of Heart” community. Mary-Jane and Karen’s story touched my heart the most. Thank you for sharing a piece of yourself, your life, with me (us, the readers).
Once again, Cheryl shared lyrics with her readers. Lovely!
There were also several quotes, but one stood out more than the others. “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world.” I agree that without using our imagination, there would be no art, no music, no theatre, and much more. These mediums can heal, soothe and bring joy to themselves and those around them.
Journaling and positive-driven relationships can help someone live a more peaceful life. But Cheryl does state a truth…No matter how nice you express your feelings – someone might not be receptive. It is like what my mom always told me and what I tell my kids all the time, “You can’t please everyone. Stay away from those who make you feel bad about yourself. Surround yourself with good people.”
Cheryl spoke about using sounds to heal ourselves. I also believe in the power of sound. I use music to clear my mind and to lift my spirits.
I agree that nature walks, mediation, being grateful, and getting lost in another world help achieve inner peace. Books are my mental sanctuary!
To Cheryl, I’m sorry that you dealt with childhood bullying. I did, too, and so have my children. No one deserves to be bullied. Ever. Thank you for sharing your story, tips, exercises, and everything else I didn’t mention. <3
This is a fantastic book for anyone who is feeling like they want more from their lives and a deeper connection to themselves. Melody does a fantastic job of offering the reader introspective personal stories. She then encourages the reader to find contemplate their own stories and similar life experience. This deeply personal set of stories allows the reader to take an uplifting journey into their foundational self while getting to know the author.
Heart Dreamer: Stepping into Life, Love, Creativity and Dreams No Matter What is a beautiful book to read. I have been through a lot I the last couple of years with the cancer diagnosis and eventual passing of my husband. This book came to me at a perfect moment. The words between the pages felt like they were written for me. It is nearly two hundred and fifty pages full of inspiration. There are eight chapters that includes: quotes, messages, poetry, songs, lists, tips, wisdom, activities and ideas. I could not help but to put things I have been going through into a new perspective. I like the areas where it covers negative thoughts and how to speak within myself. It has been one of the best books I have read that has helped me find my inner voice and provoking positivity in my thoughts. This one is a keeper.
I am giving Heart Dreamer: Stepping into Life, Love, Creativity and Dreams No Matter What a very well deserved five stars. Readers who are looking for inspiration or motivation, will want to snatch this one up. Cheryl Melody Baskin has proved herself at being talented and compassionate author. I will be looking for more books like this in the future.
I received a paperback copy of Heart Dreamer: Stepping into Life, Love, Creativity and Dreams No Matter What from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Reading this book was the perfect follow up to Melody’s Peace Dreamer book. Feeling more center, I am ready to begin connecting to my inner child and truly reflect upon what my dreams are. What I love most about Cheryl is that she writes from her heart. The genuineness of her writing speaks to my heart and inspires me to use the tools to reconnect with what means the most to me.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Cheryl Melody Baskin and iRead Book Tours. I'm excited to be a part of this tour.
Heart Dreamer Presents Many Opportunities for Readers. While the author's writing style is very light and easy to understand, she packs in many more profound messages and thoughts within the pages of this book. I loved Peace Dreamer--but had a little more difficulty settling into the flow of Heart Dreamer. I wasn't sure what I was to gain from the book. I was about a third of the way into the book when I had my own moment of self-discovery: I was resisting the messages of the book because following my heart and finding my passion are still areas of my life where I struggle to find my path! I stopped and re-read the first third of the book with this realization in mind. The author uses short chapters and highlights "life wisdom" that she hopes readers will take away from the chapter. I didn't take away to-do lists or "do this, and you will find XYZ." Still, I did find many opportunities for personal reflection and inspirational, motivational, and relatable personal stories, quotes, and journal entries.
Heart Dreamer May Help Readers Consider (and Reconsider) Life Paths. As a society, we too often focus on money, success, titles--and pleasing others or living up to the expectations of others. As a parent of adult and nearly adult children--I am watching my daughters enter college, trying to find their paths and choose their dreams. I am also watching them struggle between the directions their hearts pull them and their desires to please their parents and meet society's expectations. Heart Dreamer is a book that I am sharing with them. Heart Dreamer shares a lot of practical, thought-provoking life wisdom from the author and her community members--both physical and online.
Would I Recommend Heart Dreamer by Cheryl Melody Baskin? As with Peace Dreamer, Heart Dreamer isn't a super-structured "do this in this order" kind of self-help book. This book highlights the value and importance of following dreams and finding personal passions and projects of the heart to lead more fulfilling lives. I struggled to settle into the book's messages at first--so be sure to read with an open mind (and re-read if necessary). The messages are a little deeper than face value. From renaming yourself to realizing the value of the true you to the world--there are pieces to gain from every page of the book. I would recommend this book to those seeking some thought-provoking insights into following your heart and creating your own path in life.
I received a copy of this book from the author or publisher. All opinions are my own.
Heart Dreamer is an uplifting and easy to read book filled with thoughts on dreaming, abundance, self-healing and joy. At the beginning I was worried it wouldn't have enough content, but as I continued on through the chapters I found myself highlighting a sentence here and an idea there. I was left with a long list of inspiring notes.
Baskin includes some of her story along the way, as well as thoughts shared by the women in her Shift of Heart Community. Ideas are followed with exercises and/or ideas on how to move forward. Probably the most important one for me was the concept of healing from the inside out. We as a society seem to have a habit of looking for fixes from outside. But I believe, like the author, that true change, happiness, guidance and inspiration come from within. We are in charge.
If you are a avid reader of inspirational books, you will probably recognize many of the ideas shared here. But Baskin shares them in her own unique way, alongside the diverse views from her group, and with a strong positive energy throughout. Heart Dreamer is a spirit lifter that will raise you up.
It is always so inspiring to see someone changing course, finding personal growth and using their energy to motivate others! Even more so when that person is in their 70’s! The concept of Heart Dreamer is really interesting. It can apply to a wide age range of people- which is one of her points. This book is more spiritually new age than I would typically read, and as such there are some concepts and tools that it promotes that I would not suggest. That being said, there are also lots of tools that I found useful. Her goals of focusing on life day by day, believing in yourself and emphasizing love and positivity are universally important. They are also things that we’ve let slip in our consumer driven lives. There has never been a better time to emphasize love, positivity and embracing your life.
This book reminded me of my friend Sandy Shepherd. She's a real heart dreamer from her whimsical style and her little dragonfly cottage behind her house. This is a book about loving yourself, doing what you like, and treating others with kindness.
heart, mind and spirit. Filled with loving and true stories that I could relate to very easily. I really liked the suggested exercises, affirmations, and down to earth wisdom.
