-------------Beautiful and emotional! When I read the blurb about a woman moving on with life after her husband is killed in an accident, I was hooked.
The first chapter is different from other books as it has a group of souls planning a life. Kate will be aided by others in her journey.
When her husband passes, Kate is a single mother with a young son. She deals with the grief and stress of bringing up a son on her own, deciding to strive and give him a good life.
She meets many people and connects instantly with some of them. The organ donation after affects are quite interesting.
The grief is realistic and the hesitation to find love again is quite real as well.
I just devoured this wonderful story and used a few tissues along the journey.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an emotional book about moving on, with a few surprises along the way of life.

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for allowing me to read the ebook in exchange for an honest review.
(published at Netgalley, Wordpress, Goodreads and amazon.)
When Wings Flutter was my first book by this author and I definitely enjoyed it. It was a love story but not of the typical hearts and roses variety. It was definitely so much more. It was an interesting and intriguing read that allowed the reader the opportunity to think about the bigger questions related to fate, spirituality and reincarnation and it was very well done by the author. This book evoked a lot of emotions in me throughout the course of the story and I would definitely recommend it to others.
This was a wonderful novel. I was very intrigued by the idea of Souls being intertwined and traveling through lifetimes together. The characters were really well drawn, and I wanted more time with them all. Extremely well done. Please just read it. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this book. My thoughts are my own.
I normally don't review the many books I read. This one deserves a great review. It is amazing it touches a subject most people don't talk about, what happens when we die . Great story .
Five Stars? Only five stars? When Wings Flutter by Liane Carmen deserves a lot more than just five stars! I don’t think there are words in the English language to describe the beauty of this book.
If you don’t take me up on any of my recommendations, you need to take this one seriously. This is a must read! I was truly blessed to read an advanced reader’s copy. When Wings Flutter is a book that I will never forget.
When you sit down to read this book, prepare to ugly cry. This will require a box of tissues. If you’ve lost a spouse or someone you love dearly, this book will hit you hard. Liane Carmen knows what it is like to lose someone you love with all of your heart. It brought me right back to those dark days. Those days of heartbreak, uncertainty, loneliness and fear.
Her characters are well rounded and thought out. I learned to love even the one I didn’t ever think I would.
The concept of this book is a little different. I don’t think a lot of people will object to it. I kept my mind open and was excited to read about it. You get a hint of what it is all about when the main character’s soul is preparing for the next life.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This is a story of meeting someone, and you just instantly make a connection. That is what has been happening to Kate. When she met Will, she knew he was the one, and they felt like they knew each other. They got married and had a son. Their connection was so strong, but when he was killed, she was devastated. After that, things were different for. Kate and she knew she had to move forward in her life. Kate didn't understand things at the time. Things like people being in the right place at the right time. Feeling an instant connection with some people. Unexplained things happening, things she didn't understand. I could relate to Kate, because the soul knows things, the brain and heart doesn't understand. Kate didn't understand many things, but she knew she had to follow through. Many people experience things like Kate has, when someone says you must have someone watching over you because something that needed to happen and didn't seem possible, really did happen. This is a story that I connected to and could understand. It is one of those connections where you don't go looking for something, some things come to you. If this book comes into your life, maybe it is meant for you to read it. I received an ARC from Liane Carmen through NetGalley.
Two souls, two orbs, bounce and glide around each other in the other [lane, the afterlife, heaven, a place not here on Earth. "Kate", as we will learn to call her, thinks about her next life, "I want to be a celebrity of sorts, can you imagine? Leaving a legacy, my small mark on history would be quite an accomplishment." Her soul mate, her tether, her connection, says, "Well, that would make for an exciting life this time around." Excitement and sadness they have not previously experienced waits for them. This next time around. But one little change crashes their repeated love life. But not their history. Exactly what will be so different this time? What is at Kate's end this time? This novel is different from Laine Carmen's previous novels set in the crime/thriller drama. But her intriguing storytelling is still here and amplified. This novel is everything I think about daily and ponder over and obsess over. What happens to us? Do we come back again? What if we have more than one great love? Have we met our children before? Do souls live on in those who receive their organs via transplants? So many questions we won't know till it is our turn. THE one last great mystery of the universe that author, Liane Carmen, gives us her take of, and it will shake you.
This is a very touching poignant story about reincarnation and the ability to let the Soul grow with each life and move on. Kate has lived many lifetimes as has the man she meets and marries, Will. They are living the perfect life with one son, Zachary. One snowy night, Will stops to help a woman with a flat and is killed. Kate and Zach have to figure how to move on when opportunity knocks for Kate. She meets a grief counselor at the hospital who changes her life. Now, Kate will learn what life is like as just not a mom and wife…she can spread her wings and grow by giving herself a life she never thought she could have. But miracles work in such unobvious ways…there is so much more to this story and the people involved in the life Kate and Zach build that will leave you in tears of happiness and awe! Such a good book to read filled with inspiration and hope and faith~ Kate will also get another chance at love…that is frustrating for quite a while but will finally come to fruition in ways that we do not expect…a MUST HAVE story~
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this.
This is a beautiful and touching story following the life of Kate, and the interconnecting lives of her family and friends she meets along the way, following the tragedy that kills her husband, Will.
This story explores reincarnation and second chances, and as the story progresses, you learn how everything is connected and falls into place. The way this was presented by the author was wonderfully done. and I found myself emotional throughout the story.
Interesting concept novel of reincarnation to rectify wrongs of a past Life. Kate’s new life is detailed over her years on earth as she suffers great loss, reinvention of her life, and meeting people along the way that will help her achieve her ultimate goal. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When Kate was ready she made her way into this world. She was loved and grew up with wonderful parents. When she first saw Will she knew immediately they would be together and they would be happy. After they got married, they were so happy when they found out they were pregnant, but when she had a miscarriage, it broke their hearts . But together they got through it. Now ready to try again, they were so proud to Welcome Zach into their family. Zach idolized his Daddy, and then when everything seemed to be falling into place….another tragedy happens. Kate is beside herself with grief. How can Will keep his promise to look after her if he isn’t here. With the hard decision, Kate took the advice of Will’s parents and sister and signed up for Will to be an organ donor. Because of Will, 5 people will be able to live. Each situation and each new person that stepped into her life and Zach’s life seemed to be putting their life back together once again. This is a heartfelt story of love, loss, forgiveness, acceptance, and believing and I definitely recommend it
Lovely story about how and why we share life experiences with each other. Engaging characters is a sad but interesting way to address the importance of organ donation. Sweet love stories that hold out to the end. There are a few steamy scenes. I knew there would be a way characters received organs, but what I found was a stretch was at the end how certain characters just happened to be the receiver of the organs. Suddenly, a list of people in the book all turned out to be organ recipients. I thought it needed more development. In the end, the author explains her belief in reincarnation and how we are connected. It was an interesting perspective.

Kate's life was filled with love and family, a family she felt was perfect. Facing the loss of a husband offended her definition of what she belived was hers for life. She eventually met very purposeful people and regained strength, and realized the courses in her life very much depended on the newer changes that she wasn't in perfect readiness to accept.
There's description of consciousness of being beyond the physical living position, a constraint of realizing only those closely known.
I have always believed in reincarnation so this book was something special for me. It brought me hope for an afterlife. As far as organ donation it made me realize how important it is. I am not a donor now but plan to become one. This is a must read on so many levels! I loved everything about this book.
Absolutely Riveting! This book is the story of a woman's life and fated encounters. Kate Kennedy's growth and lessons learned will leave you in amazement. Author, Liane Carmen makes one ponder about mortality and the grander scheme of one's life. Highly Recommended!
This book requires an open mind/heart and the suspension of what we consider our logical, rational reality. It is a novel that expresses a spirituality, which embraces a non-physical realm interfacing with and even guiding the unfolding of human experiences.
As a soul entity, Kate is planning her next incarnation – one that will challenge her to grow and expand her soul consciousness. She chooses the themes for this lifetime and gains the cooperation of other members of her soul circle to play specific roles to support her. Once she incarnates, she has no memory of her intentions, but she does have the ability to intuitively recognize those who enter her life to play their agreed upon parts. In the course of this lifetime, Kate experiences deep love, loss, grief, compassion and forgiveness. She moves from having a lack of confidence in herself to fulfilling her destiny and leaving the legacy she had hoped to achieve.
The premise of creating a life plan on a soul level is not new, but here it is handled with an emotional sensitivity to the human condition that is both touching and inspiring. What we call synchronistic events, even miracles, may be the soul’s influence on our mundane lives. Most importantly, the book underscores that we cannot appreciate the significance of life’s challenges in the moment; often what would be considered negative or painful circumstances contain the greatest gifts.
I recommend reading the first chapter carefully (or re-reading it periodically) as it creates a framework for all the events and relationships that follow. The chapters are clearly labelled as the timeframes are accelerated over Kate’s lifetime. While this could lead to confusion or a disjointed storyline, the author skillfully uses this device to keep the story moving forward over a full lifetime. Overall, I enjoyed this book and found it a refreshing change from the usual fictional fare.
My thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the privilege of reviewing this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I read this in April as an ARC. *I understand there have been a few minor changes since I read the ARC. 🦋 Review: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🥰 When Wings Flutter is a thought-provoking, emotional, and beautifully written story about how our reactions to events, and the choices we make in life, affect who we are meant to be, how we affect others who cross our path, and what lessons we need to learn.
What if our soul could choose the lessons we will learn in a lifetime? What if we had more than one chance to get it right? Would we choose to go through tragedy if we knew it would shape us into a better person? Is it possible to learn to forgive someone who has wronged us? Can we learn to accept responsibility for our actions if we are the one who hurt someone else?
I was completely moved throughout the book. 😭 There were so many events in the story that I could relate to in my own life; some of them hit really close to home. It really made me think. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and I think fans of The Midnight Library would love When Wings Flutter. 🦋 *The Ebook is available through Kindle Unlimited. The paperback is available now and the hardcover will be released soon.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for a fair review. I'll leave the whole plot reveal to someone else. I found this book very enjoyable to read. I have read several novels about reincarnation that have talked about the same circle of people being with you in each life, so this wasn't new but it was artfully done here. If you pay close attention to the first few pages and remember them as you go along, things make sense as events unfold and characters turn up. I felt as if Kate had a lot more grace than I might have in several situations, but I also wasn't sure why she was so unsure of herself. She seemed like a very capable person from the very beginning. What stopped me from giving this book higher than a 3* was that I felt it was a little flowery, that despite the early tragedy, everything else appears to be unicorns and rainbows. I guess I'm a little too cynical for the story. It bothered me that she was obviously interested in someone for years and never took the initiative, despite her actively going for Will. If you like clean, non-graphic romance and spiritual vs religious books, this is the story for you. It would make a great book group selection. Thank you, Netgalley.

When Wings Flutter
Liane Carmen
Published: October 29, 2021
This is my first Liane Carmen book and I was so glad I discovered her! When Wings Flutter is a book about finding “your one,” falling in love, losing your love, finding yourself, and getting a second chance at love again. This book will break your heart and put it back together. This was almost a five-star read for me, but the reincarnation part of the story was not needed in my opinion. I would have been happy with Will simply watching over Kate and giving her “signs” along the way. There will be other readers, however, who will love the reincarnation aspect of this story. I still really enjoyed the book and would love to read more of Liane Carmen’s work in the future. Highly recommend!
This book is rich with characters that hook you but is mystical, magical, and tragic too. It leaves a lasting impression and may stir your thoughts on life after death and reincarnation. I highly recommend it!
I really enjoyed this poignant, heartfelt story of Kate, Will, Sam and Zach. There is so much love poured into every page, real emotions shared by all of the characters—love, loss, grief, and healing.
This book took me by surprise in a good way. It taught me that people are in your life for a reason and a season . It’s to help you fulfill a purpose and meaning to the world.
