My desires…

I’m afraid. I want things – to escape, to run, to be caught, held down and… I’ve come here to find the thing to quench my most sensual fantasies.

When I see him - I know. He’s brutal and made of stone. An artist with his hands who keeps everyone at arm’s length. He’s the one I want – I need.

May be my downfall.

I’m not a man you play with. I gave up on finding a partner years ago.

But now I see her. Innocent. Beautiful. Temptation. I want to possess her as much as I want to protect her from myself.

I am the king here, but once she’s gone? I’ll be a man alone once again.
Now that I have her. I have to find a way to keep her – forever.

Kink Camp is a world apart, a place where pain is pleasure, hate can be love, and we are all our own true selves. Every act is consensual, every person respected—unless that’s not what they want. This book plunges you into the deep end, with consensual non-consent, forced fantasy, and primal play. Tread carefully.

5 We’ve Danced This Way Before Stars ⭐

Male Primal Hunter seeks Female Prey for a one-time, anonymous hunt. No faces. No names. No repeats.

They are two people that have put their lives on hold. Grace a young woman who has forgotten her dreams and Liev who has lost himself to grief. It takes one adventure away at kink camp to reawaken them in the best possible way.

Two consenting adults getting their rocks off in unconventional ways isn’t something I’ll ever see in a negative light.

Kink Camp is a place where everyone can just be. A commune where everyone can experience their pleasures. Old timers, new timers; nothing is off the table. A safe environment to enjoy it all. When Grace’s bestie encourages her to attend, she finally gives into her baser need. Being hunted and ravished. A one off to get it out of her system. Except the thrill is too much not to want seconds, thirds, forever’s.

The second her body ran into mine, mine woke back up. The moment our gazes met was explosive. Now, something’s happened in my chest that I swear is physical. Heartbeats finding a new rhythm.

Liev is our tortured hero who’s been hiding. He may dabble in the scene, but nothing in the way of commitments. He’s been there, done that and has proof of the scars. Yet one encounter with Grace, and she’s a beacon drawing him near. Their desires align perfectly. One can't resist when it feels this right.

I loved this story from the first page. There was plenty of heat that thrilled me, however the clincher was the emotional, poignant storytelling that completely sucked me in. There was a lot of beauty to be found within these pages. It seems that Primal kink does it for me and I cannot wait for whatever is up next!

*3.75* You are in safe hands reading a book about primal kink with Adriana Anders beautiful prose. Any other author trying to write a book with this theme, and with my most disliked trope, I don't know if it would have worked. Anders writes the some of the BEST wounded souls who find healing through personal growth and super steamy connections.

We've got Grace.
"Pretty as a rose and twice as thorny. He always joked that you had to fight through the thorns to get the real me.”
And Liev
He’s surveying the room from a spot just out of the fray, at the edge of the shadows, his thick arms crossed over a massive, heavily-muscled chest.
And their passion.
“I should push your face into the dirt and fuck you right now,” I whisper straight into her ear. Moaning, she trembles harder. Jesus, I’ve never had someone whose reactions were so in sync with mine. It’s like she pulled the playbook from my brain and brought it into full, living color right here, under the stars.
My few complaints are that I wanted more time with this couple. The story ended before we were able to watch their relationship blossom in a regular setting rather than racing through the woods in the dark. I also loved the tie-in with both being sensitive artists. I wanted to know more about their craft, and how that wove into their relationship. (I pictured a sunny room where they both created side-by-side.)

Overall a steamy, forward thinking story with two beautifully broken spirits finding peace together. Can't wait for Zion's story!!

*side note: reminded me of Bait by Jade West. If you liked that one, you might enjoy this similar theme.

A BR with the lovely Lana. As always, I enjoyed the multiple discussions this story initiated. Here's to clean bedrooms and not a forest floor!

Not many can write a believable and hot as fuck primal play story but Anders did goooood.

It was intense, sexy, emotional - basically, everything you'd want from a kinky story. And I loved every minute of it.

Also, excuse me, a KINK CAMP?! I want to go to one!!!

Izzy, thank you for bringing this gem on my radar, and Rain, thank you for reading this with me! Heh, it was the shortest BR, we finished it in hours!

“It feels right. That’s all I know.”

I enjoyed this one. Grace is someone new to kink, and she ends up acting out a Prey kink that she’s always fantasized about at a camp that caters to the kink community as a whole. Her love interest is someone who has a Primal kink, so clearly they are a great pairing in that aspect, but they also have an instant chemistry that neither of them can explain. All in all if you’re looking for a book that has kink, tension, some emotional and introspective bits, and the potential for more great stories exploring other kinks, then I’d definitely pick this one up!

Male Primal Hunter seeks Female Prey for a one-time, anonymous hunt.
No faces. No names. No repeats.

That, right there, sold me to this story, the thrill of the hunt, being forced to submit by a stranger.
And it turned out to be as good as i thought, better even.
Both Grace and Liev are dealing with the grief of losing a loved one,and struggle with every day life.
Both need something unusual,a kink that’s kind of unique,to feel alive.
And they find it with eachother….

When Grace’s bestie persuades her to take a break from taking care of her mother, she reluctantly agrees.
Ever since her father died because her mother had a stroke while driving, she’s done everything she could to help her, even give up her dreams.
Going to Kink Camp seems like a good idea, but admitting what her kink is to others is hard.
Until that note….that note that promisses the very thing she craves.
And the experience is everything she hoped it would be,so now she can relax….right?
She scratched that itch, and that’s enough…..or is it?

Liev has struggled through life ever since his wife Helen died.
This year, the note he leaves on the board attracts someone that gives him exactly what he needs.
Someone that acts like real Prey, and “fights for her life”.
And this is the first time he wants a repeat…..and another.

When these two found eachother,it must’ve been fate.
Because they’re both creative souls that haven’t created anything for years.
That part was closed off because of mourning,of grief.
And once they recognized and admitted they needed more, they both started to open up that part.
Their healing had begun, something therapy hadn’t managed before.

I enjoyed the thrill of the chase, this darker side of kink.
But i also enjoyed how they both changed because of that first Hunt.
How they started to think about more than grief, and everyday life.
There was a depth to this one i appreciated, making it more than your everyday kinky story.

“Kink Camp,” they answer. “You can leave, but you better come first.”

This book really surprised me! 💕

On the one hand, it's exactly what you expect.
This story, as the title suggests, is set in a kink camp.
And yes, there is a lot of sex. It's really the only reason why all these people are there.
There are some really hot scenes in it though. 🔥

On the other hand, the book has a lot more depth than I expected.
Both main characters have background stories, show their emotions and feel vulnerable to me.🤍
It's a pretty short story though, and I feel like that does cut into their relationship developed a bit.

Grace is new to this world. Her best friend has been asking her to come for years after she confessed that she always fantasized about being hunted. This year she finally went..

When she plays out her prey kink, she meets her mystery man, with a primal kink. Although she doesn't really know his name, face, or anything about him, she can't get him out of her head..👀

All in all a fun short read and I will definitely pick up the sequel!

Very excited about this series. I love exploring some unusual kinks and this series is going to do them in a safe and consensual fun way.

Primal CNC kinky times is something I don't see enough of, I usually see it in a stalker or psychopath scenario. This was at a delightful camp where people can run free (and be caught and fucked) in a safe area.

This was a lot of fun and I can't wait for the next one.

What I like the most was the set up where you were free to explore your kink and wasn’t kink shamed. Very yummy read.

I enjoyed the premise and how diversity inclusive the secondary cast was but this one fell short for me in term of character development and actual chemistry between the main characters. The fact the story progresses fast didn't help much, neither did the insta-love.
From where I'm standing the main protagonists share a kink and it was enough for them to feel like they could work as a couple. Alright, don't mind me if I do need a little more conviction to believe in their story. Especially with the bribes of background stories we've got about both mmc and mfc. Their sexual encounters felt impersonal—I don't want to say clinical— steamy, sure, but nothing out of this world hot.

It was a nice story, entertainning to a point, about a woman finally exploring her sexual desires but also it fell very surface in term of set up? I like the idea of a kink camp, and I have no doubt about the author's personal experience, (preface explains she visited a similar camp) but the set up and rules of this particular camp were pretty vague. Maybe I'm ruined by the few authors doing BDSM club serials, so the lack of clear rules and safe environment boundaries felt odd to me.

I'm still looking forward to read the next in the series, secondary cast really got to me!

What a romp. Delighted by the premise - a kink summer camp with explicit consent rules and codes of conduct for campers to explore and play as they please - combined with the heat level. Personally, I'd rather not ever get chased in the woods and tussle, but the two main characters LOVE IT and make you love it for them.

A bit insta-lust/love for my personal taste, Grace and Liev having hot primal sex in the woods was more than worth my time reading, and I cannot wait to read more in the series.

I was also pleased with how casually diverse the cast of secondary characters were and hope that is explored more in future tales. Beyond their primal play, Grace and Liev were white, cis het, and monogamous.

Do know there is some lingering grief issues for Liev (his wife died years ago).

3.5 stars. This was a rare kink read that spent a solid amount of time on character / relationship development. So, it deserves kudos for that. But it was lacking in too many areas for me to be able to give it 4 stars. Still, it wasn’t bad at all - I give a lot of books 3 stars that I largely enjoyed, they just have flaws. I'd rec it if you like primal.

This is about Grace and Liev (I think she's 28 and he's 33). Grace goes on a summer vacation to “kink camp” for adults (so, this is like those books that are set at BDSM clubs – but, it has a change of scenery from a club to a camp. A fun unique setting). They do a primal play scene together that’s supposed to be an anonymous one-time thing, and it turns into more.

Their relationship did get time to build – which seems like a rarity these days, for books with kink / high steam! So, that was good. They were likable, the steam was good, and the diverse side characters were fun. But the reason this falls more in the 3-star range is that it still had a bit of an insta-love vibe. Like, yes, their interactions built gradually. But, at the end, they acknowledge that they still barely know each other. And most of their interactions were either sex, or them just seeing each other from far away without speaking. They had so few conversations. I needed a little more on that front.

(For examples of other books where smut/ kink is the main story, but they DO also have enough conversations between the characters: see Hold. Or Willing Victim. Or After Hours. Or Dirty Bad Wrong.). Those are all similar types of book to this one, but this book just wasn’t quite at that level, and fell a little short of being as good.

Then, the end was too abrupt. We didn’t get to see what they’d be like outside of this “camp” setting.

This also has the “love after loss,” trope, since Liev is grieving his dead wife. Although I like it when steamy reads have characters with imperfect lives and serious life problems – Jade West is good at that in her books! - his grief was such a heavy topic, it mixed awkwardly with the rest of this story (since the rest of it was, "Heroine has kink self-discovery in a quirky setting!") In Jade West's books, she's better at doing "characters with real-life problems do kink stuff" with a better balance of those 2 things.

And Liev was so deep in his grief, that I didn’t feel like I had a strong idea of what his personality was like before it. He’s so antisocial, he doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would have started a camp like this. He does start coming out of his shell after meeting Grace. But it didn’t feel like we got to meet the version of him where being the owner of this camp really fit him.

But, aside from that, this was pretty well done. I’d still recommend it if you like primal. There are slim pickings for good ones! Unlike The Four Leaf, this is a full length novel, and unlike Knot Your Damn Omega, the primal play isn't just 1 scene, surrounded by a bunch of unrelated stuff. I've never read this author before, I'll check out more from her.

CW for cancer, death of a spouse, death of a parent, stroke. As soon as I heard this book was coming out I knew the kink would be for me, and I just hoped the execution was there. I really, really enjoyed it. A pretty good mix of steam and story line, I loved how perfectly their kinks and dynamics matched.

Readability: 📖📖📖📖
Feels: 🦋🦋🦋
Emotional Depth: 💔💔💔
Sexual Tension: ⚡⚡⚡⚡
Romance: 💞💞💞
Sensuality: 💋💋💋💋
Sex Scene Length: 🍑🍑🍑🍑
Steam Scale (Number of Sex Scenes): 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥+
Humor: Yes, and the side characters are a delight!
Perspective: First person from both the hero and heroine
More character focused or plot focused? character
How did the speed of the story feel? medium to fast
When mains are first on page together: Takes just a bit – 7%
Cliffhanger: This ends with a happily ever after for the mains but there is a bit of a plot cliffy for the future book (kind of like a stressful phone call the book ends on regarding the next characters)
Epilogue: Yes, 11.5 months later
Format: listened to the audiobook from my library (Hoopla)
Why I chose this book: @imromanticallyinvolved has brought it to my attention a few times and when I found it on Hoopla I had to try it!
Mains: This is a M/F romance between a cisgendered hero and heroine (I think both mains may be bi? There’s jokes and references to partners that seems inclusive and other people joining in on sex – but this is an assumption of mine. At the very least, the book is LGBT+ positive)
(Descriptions found at end of my review)

Should I read in order?
This is the first book in Anders’ Kink Camp.

Basic plot:
When a fantasy is posted on the board during Kink Camp, Grace realizes she can live her own fantasy anonymously….

Give this a try if you want:
- contemporary romance
- Kink Camp setting – the camp where all the fun happens
- heroine learns to fulfill her fantasies
- size difference – heroine isn’t small but he’s huge
- masquerade
- secret identity
- primal play, praise, throat play, masks, hair holding….
- higher steam – 6ish full scenes

Ages:
- hero is 33, didn’t catch heroine

First line:
Male primal hunter seeks female prey for a one time anonymous hunt.

My thoughts:
I LOVE the idea of this series/book. Kink Camp sounds like so much fun – and the way it was done was so enticing. Rules and safety aspects set up but the freedom to explore – the side characters were delightful. The humor, the fun...I loved it all.

And primal play is one of my favorites. Masks. Secret identities. I love all that so this book was right up my alley. I was surprised how much I fell in to this story – I was just looking for a good time honestly and while I got that, I also got some delicious angst and relationship development in the latter half. I loved getting to know Grace and Liev and really loved Liev’s vulnerability and slow opening up to a relationship again.

I’m definitely going to be grabbing the next one in the series!

This was an enjoyable read it’s quite a quick one but the characters still felt fully dimensional. It’s a contemporary romance with an unconventional subject and I loved the fact this story was set in a kink camp. I was drawn to this mostly because of the primal play I do appreciate a bit of consensual non-consent and here it was done very well. The play scenes were red hot with plenty of intensity and chemistry and I also appreciated the emotional connection that this also managed to impart. It didn’t just feel like cheap porn this actually felt much deeper and struck a good balance between the heat and the feelings. I liked both main characters and the initial anonymity only intensified everything. I liked that this was not instlove both characters recognised this was maybe the start of something special.

Both Grace and Lief are dealing with real-life stuff, Lief is finally allowing his grief to disperse from losing his wife to cancer but is also battling feelings of guilt for embracing new horizons. Whilst Grace is learning to recognise who she actually is as she’s been stagnating since her life derailed.
This also introduces characters that will feature in their own books and I’m definitely now intrigued. This was actually a better read than I expected my first experience with this author and it was a good one.

Kink acceptance is a beautiful thing! And I absolutely love the idea of this Kink Camp where everyone is safe to explore their kinks in a non-judgmental environment! And the fact that the author has been to a place like this and is writing from experience was an extra bonus that made it more realistic and enjoyable for me.

Primal play is so fun. I'd read it before without knowing there was a name for it, so actually being able to label it now is exciting. This book was fast-paced and hot. Limited plot outside of the growing relationship between the MCs and full of spice, spice, spice.

Looking forward to more in this series, for sure.

This book was so much fun! It takes places at a legit kink camp and follows Grace and Liev. Grace is new to kink but knows what she wants and likes, but after sharing her kinks with previous boyfriends and getting shot down she was nervous about being at camp for the first time. Liev is a widower, who is deep in the lifestyle but doesn't know how to move on from his wife's passing. He's heavily involved at the camp but keeps most people at arms length.

When Grace sees an invitation for her kink up (primal play) on a bulletin board, she is absolutely thrilled, and terrified. It's too good to be true. It's everything she's ever wanted. But she's so nervous. Her BFF (who brought her to camp) and a friend she meets while there talk her into indulging herself.

And its everything she could have asked for and more. The only problem, it's pitch black in the woods they run through and just to make sure it's anonymous, her Hunter wore a mask. They have no idea who the other is. And it's supposed to be one time only.

Only it's not, they keep going back every night to play. Pulling a little more out of each other each time. Until they both realize this is more then either of them thought possible.

This is a super quick read and I loved it so much I wish it was longer. There was also a ton of diversity, in people, in kink, in gender, in sexual orientation. It was amazing to see! The secondary character were just as awesome and fun as the MC's, and this is going to be a character series so I'm suuuper excited to see everyone else's book!

While I did absolutely love this book, I do wish the author would have spent more time on the character development. Like it's there but very minimally. And there is also an incredibly important sex scene between the MC's that was fade to black at the end. We as reader yearn for that specific moment in the characters relationship and it felt like we were robbed of that moment, sadly.

With that said, this book was so damn good! I HIGHLY recommend it and can't wait to see what the author does with the rest of the series!

I really loved this.
The kink was hot as hell. The setting was so fun.
I liked the side characters, and how they were subtly (and not so subtly) pushing them together.
I just feel like we didn’t get enough of the actual relationship. We got the beginning, and then skipped to the end goal with zero developmental middle.

I am incredibly surprised to realize that our hero is not as flighty as I thought he would be.

So, I have to say how much I love their small community of kinks dwellers. It's definitely a niche kinda book but a great experience to have overall.

This was a beta read. As such, I will not be rating or reviewing. But you should know this is one of the hottest things Adriana Anders has ever written. (Did I say this about the last story I beta read for her? Perhaps, but it’s true.)

Characters: Grace is a white house painter and artist. Liev is a 36 year old white sculptor and the owner of Kink Camp. He’s the Primal Hunter to her Prey.

3.75 stars. This was a well-written story about two strangers who engage in primal play and somehow manage to work through grief in the process. The whole premise of this being set at a camp where everyone is so accepting of sexual kinks was very wholesome (!?) - but don’t worry there were plenty of very steamy scenes. I would have liked to see more of a personal connection between Grace and Liev beyond their shared kink.

So this one had such a promising premise: a whole kink camp, primal play and two strangers colliding in the woods in the dark? Count me in!! And to be fair, I did enjoy parts of it, especially the kink dynamics and the setup. Consent is done well, the atmosphere was cozy in that community-kink-retreat kind of way and there's a lot of diverse rep, which I appreciated. It felt open and accepting, which is rare and refreshing in books like this.

Grace is new to kink, still trying to unlearn shame after previous relationships made her feel like she was “too much.” Liev is a masked hunter, older, experienced and grieving, who lost his wife and hasn’t touched another submissive since. What starts as one anonymous primal run in the woods becomes a nightly thing. They don’t know who the other is… and they’re both catching feelings anyway.

Their scenes were hot and intense. I liked that their dynamic was rooted in this shared need, hers for being hunted and his for letting his instincts out again.

BUT. That connection? Outside of their shared kink… it never quite landed emotionally for me.
I kept waiting to really feel something between them besides physical pull, but I never fully bought the love part. They barely even talk to each other for most of the book, like it’s almost 70% in when they figure out who the other is. And even then, the conversations were kind of shallow. There just wasn’t enough buildup on the emotional side to make the feelings believable for me. It was like they were in love because the plot said so, not because I saw it happen.

One last gripe: there’s a crucial, long-awaited sex scene that gets…fade to black. After all that tension and slow build, it felt like such a letdown not to be let in on that moment. I was there for the kink! Let me have it😭?!

Still, it was a quick, sex-positive read with some really good primal scenes and I’ll definitely check out the other book from this series. I just wish there had been more depth and emotional development to match the physical chemistry. Because the setup was good, but the payoff just didn’t quite hit like it could have.

CWs: caregiving, spouse death, parental death, grief, depression, attempted suicide

Tropes: primal, CNC, kink as catharsis, “mine”, soulmates

This book has claimed a part of my soul. The kink exploration, the utopia of community, the shared bond of loss, the awakening of singular understanding in another person . . . I may have cried, and I may never be ok. Anders painted a picture of primal poetry and passion with beautiful, if only slightly purple (lavender?) prose I can only compare to the likes of Sara Cate. Feeling so lucky to have found this author and been broken by this book. Sincerely, an aspiring camper whose Google history is becoming increasingly incriminating by the day.

This was really fun, sweet and steamy! Predator/prey is one of my favorite kinks and the scenes in this book DE 👏🏻 LI 👏🏻 VERED. The acts are anonymous so it was a mystery to our MC’s who their sexy stranger was. I love when authors do this and have their MC’s interact not knowing who the person is.

The setting was a magical kinky adult playground where people can live out their wildest fantasies. There is a big emphasis on safety and consent and everyone is so friendly and happy. There’s a found family vibe with everyone at the camp and some really interesting side characters who will be getting their own stories. I’m really excited to read the rest of the series and spend more time in this world!

Incredibly steamy but also surprisingly tender and full of heart. I really liked Liev and Grace. The kink was unlike anything I’ve read before and really worked. Explicitly given consent is really the key to making this work and it worked well.

Content Notes: con non-con, forced fantasy, internal kink shaming, off page death of spouse by cancer, off page death of parent, sick parent, self-harm, depression, mental health rep;

Quick(ish) Review

Love this kinky bit of goodness. The story flows, the sex is hot and really builds the relationship in the way the best erotic romances do. The Firsts are well done and I’m always a fan of BdSM that’s safe, sane and consensual. Delves into love after loss. Wished for a little more of their lives outside of kink camp but I get why it doesn’t. Can’t wait for what’s next.
