Wakamiya Hikaru is a 15-year-old teenager who wants a boyfriend that'll protect her. She likes to read shoujo manga all the time. One day, she gets kissed by a handsome, perverted boy who she called the "Perverted Prince." Later on, she finds a guy who looks exactly like him, but the eyes are different. What's going on?
Gō Ikeyamada (池山田剛, born May 25) is a Japanese manga artist. She made her debut with Get Love!! in 2002, which was serialized in Shōjo Comic. Her manga mostly consists for a more young adult audience, due to some explicit content.
I stupidly read the entire series. Who needs to sleep when there is this, predictable blah there for me to read? I really should have stopped here or the next one, but by book 4 I was like, "yes I'm bored, but I need to know what happens next!" That's how bad TV shows get you too. Very clever Ikeyamada, very clever indeed.
Anyway- Maybe I should write something that resembles a review here.
There's Arta, who is practically abusive, almost a rapist, and a sex fiend.
Takara, who is clueless for like two volumes, sees Arta circling and decides that he likes someone. Once this happens, he isn't the same old proper Takara. Where did he go? Instead he transforms into Toji from Peach Girl (whom I have come to dislike more than a bit). This story would have been cuter if he remained oblivious and shy with a cute charm.
Lastly, we have Hikaru. Wow! Way to bend over backwards for a guy. If you have to hide parts of who you are, or derive your worth from another, they aren't for you. End of story. I know it's not in this volume, but did anyone else notice that Takara never once said she had worth on her own? That she can be herself? That's because he didn't. Never, not once.
Since I'm going off volume here, I want to applaud Arta for growing up in the end. For once there is a character in manga that is will to abstain from sex till marriage or at least till he can take responsibility for the potential consequences of those actions. But I personally read more into his action (or lack of action rather -hehe! pun unintended, but awesome!) there at the end. He wanted to cherish and be worthy of her, the exact way she was/is. He was going to prove to her and himself that she is different from the rest, and that was the best way to do so. Plus let’s face it; he wasn't ready for that kind of excitement. haha!

Start with a girl who has not liked read guys exceept one in books but then things change. Being young and in love but seems like your just chases his shadow was what was happening at first but then things get intresting. Then throw in a unknown about half brother, who hate the guy you love and teases you but also looks like him but with only one thing different in looks. But in personality they could never be seen as the same person. One bing the straight lace guy and the other a sex maniac how could these two ever compare.(parts know later)
I really like the authors way of writing after being pulled in to reading this book it made me want to see what other books she has done. The actions done by hikari were so shocking and it was sothing that made you wonder how seh does it, so you get pulled in to liking her chareter then learning more about her charater and others.Ikeyamada made me want to read more adn more it was so thrilling followion this story couldnt wait to see what happens next.
I had many favorite parts in this book, adn it is things ill never forget like how takara describes hikari and his feelings for her change from and litle sister to a girl.which is a big deal becasue he has never thoguh of her like that until after they met for ateast a yeah after helping her get in to her school and after she yells at him.The part where he gets mad at her but then helps her when she has a bloody nose was such a sweet scene.

Ya he leído Uwasa no Midori-kun y Suki Desu Suzuki-kun!!? y me gustaron mucho.
Aún no sé.
Dua orang cowok berwajah sama tapi beda ibu (nb: apa mungkin bisa kembar ya?). (Kalo ga salah) yang membedakan: sifat, warna bola mata, dan letak tanda lahir, suka sama satu cewek yang sama... jadinya mereka rebutan deh.
Konflik cukup seru, apalagi si cewek jadian sama cowok yang kuharapkan. Tapiii.... yang bikin aku sebel itu selain adegan semut-semutnya (apalagi pelakunya masih SMA (atau SMP ya?)), kok bisa-bisanya si cewek disukai sama dua orang cowok? aku aja ga pernah #ngiri Ga terimaaa~
Omg!! O_O" If i was in Wakamiya Hikaru's place, i probably would've cried. XD hahaha.. i mean... Your First Kiss had to be with some Perverted guy you just met! then the following day you were invited to a group date only to meet 1 guy of the group who looks like the Perverted Prince but isnt actually him.. damn. =)) lol.. anyway, Honda Takara-kun is really handsome! :"> heehee He's so hot and cool. XD OMGAWD! even i would probably get a nosebleed. hahaha i also love the way that he's so slow! XD it's kinda funny! He even put the medicine in Hikaru-chan's mouth. He kissed her! but then again no self-awareness.. =))
waah! ok. i get it! :O Same name, face, birthmark but different personalities. I think Honda Takara-kun has a Split Personality!! O_O" Thats why he doesn't remember! XD lol so weird. I like the nice side of Takara-kun. haha! When he saw Hikaru he blushed! :O but then again, i thought wrong! ^ so, it's not a split personality?! There's a person that looks the same as Takara and his name is Ichikawa Arata! O_O" ZOMG! WAAH! The mangas i've been reading are all so unpredictable. haha!
OMG THIS MANGA IS REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD!! (・∀・)b
I've never read any shoujo manga like this before!
It's so unique, original, funny, and soooo unpredictable!!! Although it's a lil bit echi too LOL
And well, shoujo manga is shoujo manga. If you're an otaku you know how it feels like when you're reading a shoujo manga
This is my first experience reading Ikeyamada Go's manga. And I heard her mangas are all amazing. I can't wait to read the next chapters of this manga and another mangas by Ikeyamada Go! (≧∇≦)
As with all my manga reviews, this is an overview of the entire series and will likely contain spoilers as I wish to speak at length about several things.
This manga is... odd to me. The author is known for her ultra cutesy style paired with a frank, nonchalant approach to mature subject matter like lust, violence, drugs/alcohol, and sexual assault. It's so weird to see a style and plot that look like they would suit a manga for 11 year old girls decide to veer off into including some pretty adult themes in its execution.
I'm not personally much of a fan of Ikeyamada Go's style; the characters all look extremely similar to one another, regardless of their age, gender, etc. The main differences are just different hairstyles and colors.
Even the characters themselves tend to be pretty similar; all the heroines are innocent, determined little spitfires who cry easily, while her love interests are generally a "good" guy who is straight laced and a "bad" guy who is crass and violent but secretly not that bad underneath it all. This same formula can be found in her other work: うわさの翠くん!! 1 Uwasa no Midori-kun!! 1
The story focuses on Hikaru, a naive and starry-eyed teen who dreams of a shoujo-worthy romance with a handsome prince, and the complicated love triangle she ends up in after crossing paths with two feuding half brothers, Takara and Arata, who look identical but couldn't be more different from one another.
Right off the bat, I find the idea of the brothers' near identical nature, their family relationship, eye color, and the conflict between them to be a bit... silly and nonsensical.
Takara and Arata are not long-lost identical twins, despite looking identical. They're just half-siblings as a result of Takara's father having an affair with a half-Japanese-half-European woman woman overseas. I feel like this was done, ultimately, just so the author could shoehorn in Arata having blue-eyes, which is really weak.
Like, yes, it also does play a role in why Arata hates Takara--he feels that their father abandoned him for his brother and his brother got the family and life he wanted as he watched his mother live with her sadness and shame, so he wants to inflict misery onto Takara out of resentment and jealousy--but I feel like his hatred should have been directed at their dad for his poor choices. It doesn't feel justified to put all these feelings onto Takara alone. Especially because Takara had no idea Arata even existed until he reveals himself and declares his intentions to ruin Takara's life.
Had they been identical twins though, sharing the same parents and everything, I think it would have felt more justifiable to hate Takara specifically, because then he could be like why did Takara have to exist, if we'd never split in the womb, I wouldn't have been deemed the lesser twin or something to that affect.
But, putting the kind of flimsy foundation of that particular plot device aside...
A big issue that presents itself in this manga, like it does in a LOT of mid 2000s manga, is that a lot of what the love interests do is very bad, yet these actions are always portrayed as positive or written off as not a big deal.
Arata, for example, forces several kisses on Hikaru, tears off her clothes to treat a wound despite her protests, humiliates her by insinuating to their class that they'd had sex, and then he takes her home while she's intoxicated with the intent of raping her, believing "dirtying" her would ruin her relationship with Takara.
Uhm, *vomits for an hour.* Not only is that super gross, it also isn't even a really good revenge plan because the person most affected isn't Takara--it's Hikaru.
Like, had the plan been to cause Takara anguish that the person he loves most was harmed and he didn't protect her, I could kind of see that motivation, but Arata's goal is literally to make Takara look at Hikaru and go you're not a virgin anymore? Since you're now dirty, I don't wanna date you. Bye. Or I guess maybe to make Hikaru go, I'm dirty now, so I can't be with you and will reject you out of shame!?
Either way, it was stupid and I don't get how the author didn't register how terrible of a plot point it is.
This is a big determent to Arata as a love interest and the reason why him being the one Hikaru ends up with is so disappointing: although Arata ultimately doesn't rape her, he still intended to rape her. It's only by the grace of him knowing and liking Hikaru that he doesn't attempt to carry out his plan.
I resent that him opting not to rape her is shown in a very positive light; it's supposed to demonstrate that Arata is more bark than bite, putting on the facade of being evil but unable to really commit, and that his romantic feelings for Hikaru are so powerful and immense that they triumph over his hatred towards Takara.
It should only serve to show how terrible Arata is as a person because he ever considered violating her in such a horrible way--and for such a dumb reason that doesn't even really help his goal-regardless of any other factors or circumstances. Even if he didn't love Hikaru, even if she was an awful person, she doesn't deserve to be assaulted or used for a revenge scheme.
I don't know who needs to hear this but not raping people is the expected, normal, basic human decency thing to do. It is not something exceptionally good or worthy of praise, it's the expected, bare minimum thing; you don't get a cookie for not doing an immoral, horrible thing to someone.
Like, how do you overlook how fucked up that is?
While these scenes are considerably toned down and not as frequent or important as they are in some other series, it's still like... why did we need this here? Why did this have to happen? There are so many other not-disgusting instances where Arata could have potentially tried to use Hikaru as a way of hurting Takara, only for him to realize what he's doing is wrong and that he actually loves Hikaru and doesn't want to hurt her while pursing his revenge.
To make matters worse, Takara takes a nose dive as a love interest, too. While I do think it was an attempt of the author's to make Arata look better by comparison, I really dislike how they went about it.
Takara falls prey to that unfortunate plot beat, the one where a straight-laced guy ends up breaking up with the heroine and crushing her heart because he is too "noble" and "honorable" to stay with her for some reason or another, only to later go back on his choice when the heroine is seen moving on just to add conflict where it wasn't really needed.
Within the story, there's another girl who likes Takara--the typical rival mean girl--and during a scene, she pushes Takara out of the path of a moving car, saving him while getting badly hurt herself. For some reason, Takara decides the only way to appease his guilt over the fact that this girl got hurt saving him is to date her, despite not returning her feelings and already being in love with Hikaru.
He breaks up with Hikaru purely for this reason, which is stupid. The girl acted of her own volition and ultimately no one is happy being with a partner who doesn't return their feelings. Later on, Takara changes his mind about this after Hikaru, who was sent into a highly depressive state when he broke her heart, starts to move on and form a new romantic relationship. It's done 100% for cheap, easy conflict.
Like, fucking have some commitment, bro. Either stay with the girl you like and work through your guilt with her as your support, or fully commit to a loveless relationship with the girl who saved your life because you feel like you owe it to her. You don't get to do both and play both girls to suit how you're feeling at any given moment.
Takara was a good love interest until he decided to be the type of character who is so concerned with the appearance of doing the right thing that he actively works against being a good person by doing things purely for the sake of some misguided sense of righteousness.
Like god, why are the two choices an almost-rapist and a boy who cares more about looking like he's noble than actually being noble? No matter how the love triangle ended up, I would have been upset.
Outside of the dumb plot contrivances and Arata being a little too okay with assaulting Hikaru until the moment he's about to rape her but realizes he likes her and would feel guilty for making her cry, we have a pretty standard love-triangle plot that proceeds forward with your typical tropes; the love interest changes and reveals deep, emotional center for heroine, romantic rival surfaces, major events cause friction between girl and her first crush, major event causes hiccup in the romance that's going to succeed, they overcome it, the end all is happy because they're married with kids.
It's a serviceable manga that's a result of its era and country of origin, I suppose. Nothing special. It's not The Absolute Worst, but it has a lot issues all the same. I read it a few times when I was a young teen and was personally drawn to it being a more mature-content title.
One positive I will say is that a lot of the little comedic aspects land. I found it pretty laughably cute when Arata picks up Hikaru after she accepts his confession and he screams "GIRLFRIEND! GIRLFRIEND! SHE'S MY GIRLFRIEND!" in complete joy and it's drawn in that like simple, small, cartoon way for comedic effect.
It was enjoyable when I was like 14 but at 24... I'll pass.
Would have been better if Arata hadn't been planning to rape Hikaru.
The male lead such a red flag but he’s so funny sorry. I love banter DONT READ THIS UNLESS UR OKAY WITH HORRIBLE BUT FUNNY MLS AND lowkey bad writing. But it’s a fun read if ur rooting for the male lead who gets the girl…. If ur rooting for second male lead. Uhhhhhhh
Ceritanya lucu tapi menurutku agak buru2 kalo tokohnya udah skinship.
I was looking through my manga reviews and saw that apparently I haven't yet posted only one story by Go Ikeyamada - Get Love. And that's one of my favourite manga-kas. I know I have quite a lot of those, but technically she's on par with Chiba Kozue, Kanan Minami and Mayu Shinjo. I love her stories and I love her art. She's one of those who masterfully delivers love stories with a lot of humor. And very soon I will be reviewing her other works though the ones that are left haven't been finished either serialization or translation. So be patient and wait for those.
But let me get back to the story. Is it a fantastic love triangle story that I have read more than 5 times. I mean it, anytime I have a bad day or just want to have fun, this is one of the first mangas that I open up. It masterfully combines romance, shoujo, comedy and smut. Yes, you are not mistaken there is 18+ material here, but it's put on such a cute level that you can't not just say: "Ah, this is just perfect!" As I have already mentioned this is a love triangle, and you'll be having lots of fun to know how it works. It's a two boys one girl romance, and the worst part is that the boys are half brothers and look totally alike. Opps... I just made a major spoiler, but well, it's going to be revealed until the fist volume ends. So no worries here.
Well, let me cut it short, as I am making a total blunder here, not even knowing what am I saying. I love this story for a lot of reasons. It's very funny but at the same time it gives us many life situations that might happen to any one of us. All characters are very complex, and you just fall in love with all of them. Which one is going to be your favourite: Arata or Takara? The pervert prince or the real prince? I was frustrated with the perfect prince and his choices and I just wanted to kill him. Yes, it was one of those times when I really wanted to kill a fictional character.
I loved Arata a lot, and I believe he did deserve to Hikaru, as he worked his ass off to make his love happen. But let me end it here, as I do not really want to spoil everything. It's up to you to start reading this fantastic work! Enjoy it to its fullest and don't forget to share your thoughts below! Stay tuned for more reviews as well as promos. Don't miss your next favourie book or manga. Happy reading!
Ok, now before starting this book I had seen the 'Warning: may contain strong language or inappropriate content'. I am both happy and unhappy that I listened to that.
First off, the art in this book is phenominal. Really eye pleasing and easily drawn that the reader is glad to be reading this series.
The plot is original-ish, but there are parts where I wish the plot could be changed. I was actually surprised that Takaru and Akara ARE NOT TWINS. They are actually half brothers from two different moms but look exactly like their father except for the eyes.
Now, the reason why I gave this a 4 star rating was because of the sex. Why the heck did that have to be put in their!? Yes I know some teens get the idea to have sex at that age and that this particular author does almost all her mangas with french kisses and sex but I mean it's getting way out of hand, the way Takaru's Christmas gift to Hikaru was renting a hotel room so he could have sex with her. That's a bit off the scale. Please just tune that down a bit more.
I was actually happy that Hikaru ended up with Akara because Takaru was just way too perfect and prince like that in some spots it made me gag. So when Takaru's old friend came, saved Takaru from a moving bus but got run over and injured herself in my head a small voice screamed 'YES!!! Now you'll finally get away from Hikaru' because I feel and felt that if Takaru got Hikaru, this series would have so gone downhill.
The ending is a happy one, I was for the first time happy Akara didn't have sex with Hikaru right away but waited to become more of a man so he could make Hikaru happy.
Overall, less sex would have equalled to 5 stars. But, I still enjoyed the series

This was one of the stupidest romance manga that I've ever read. Excuse me if I go and puke my stomach out.
Okay. So I didn't enjoy this much. The start bothered me, but then things went well and Hikaru and Takara were together, true to each other and totally a couple. And Hikaru always had her heart in it. But the last twelve chapters pissed me off!!! WHY??? I get it's supposed to be a romance and all, but still, the plot line is so LAME.
I'm so angry for pushing myself through 35 chapters. It's a shame that the bad guy for most of the series, and the eventual winner has the biggest personality and character. Unlike his companions, Arata actually has a third-dimension. And it was nice that he got the girl in the end, but seriously, it really really felt lame. LAME. Sigh, you might as well call this Arata's story yet we get the whole thing from Hikaru's POV. Sigh. I never felt like I connected with either Hikaru or Takara, except when they were a lovey dovey couple. That was the only time I got a little of their personality.
I'm so annoyed!!!
But I will say this for lovers of romance manga. This is perfect if you're after a love story that has no angst (or not much) in it. If you want a light fluffy read go ahead and read it. All I could do was roll my eyes. But maybe someone else might actually enjoy this. Sorry, this really wasn't my cup of tea.
Let me start off by saying this is not a fairly mature manga. Let it be known that kids under 15 (maybe 13) probably shouldn't read this. I only say this because the story line becomes incredibly sexual at times.
Other than that, it was definitely an interesting story. Wakamiya Hikaru ends up meeting two boys who are identical in appearance, however completely opposite when it comes to their personalities. One is a lustful hoodlum while the other is a reserved and respected athlete. As you'd imagine, the story goes about choosing which boy she's going to love.
It's definitely an interesting story slice-of-life story. Overall I'd rate it 4 stars and would only recommend it to those who can stick with a stubborn storyline that throws every single hurdle in the way of the protagonist.
Not appropriate for kids, since many of the humor originate from sexual content. However, it is light hearted love story about a very gullible, perverted airhead. However, she is loyal so I'll grant her that. The main male characters are two different people, one of them a terrible playboy and the other a dense and kind model student. I personally don't like the fact that the playboy gets away with touching the main character sexually without her consent(funny how he only touches her, though). It is very typical and exaggerates reality to the point where I start to have my doubt if this should be shelved in the fantasy shelf.....
"Moe Kare" has to be one of the stories i 'awe'd' multiple times per chapter. Hikaru was your typical 'girly girl' : a cute girl who loves shoujo manga and enjoys talking about boys and makeup. Who would have known that her story was going to take such a drastic turn: from when she met Arata 'the perverted prince' to when she misjudged and confused his apparent brother, Takara. To be completely honest, if i were Hikaru, I would have been torn and wouldn't be able to choose between any of them. I am very happy Hikaru was able to develop and grow as an individual through these struggles in her path, which lead to her happiness. full 5 stars!
The manga itself was pretty entertaining but overall really predictable for me. I could already assume the ending by the time the story really started to take place. The characters were okay, not the best but not the worst. Kind of a cliche nothing, new manga but it was still good in general. The main girl character was kind of annoying at times though.
The art was okay. I'm not really into the whole idea of high schoolers looking like elementary/middle schoolers but I guess that's the artist's style.
I read this years ago and loved it though sadly I had to do so through scans (which I hardly do any longer because I want to support the mangaka) because it was never released in English officially though if it ever does get a physical English release I'd buy it for the nostalgia feelings alone and I'd be sure to re-read it right away might make me feel like a giddy teenager again. By the way, this story is not for everyone I'd say it's more geared towards teenage girls as you should probably notice from the cutesy art style even without knowing the story.
