A great book and great continuation of the series. This is in my opinion the most beautiful Assassin's Creed book series I have read. The artwork and action sequences are amazing and the story is also epic to go along with this.

The war is going badly, there have been losses on both side more on the Imperials thought. Hard decisions will need to be made and hope be rekindled? Whenever Li E is in action the sequences are amazing training, fighting or even sniping.

The book finishes with a few text heavy pages of explanations and historical fiction. Even these are great keeping in mind what was found. I can't wait for the next book.

Ok, General An is officially trying to commit a coup in this one and war is breaking out everywhere. Again, still not really an Assassin's Creed book outside of some minor references to the creed itself. The story hustles along, but there are some odd "otherworldly" elements introduced here that don't exact fit the world we've experienced through the first 2 books. - Pretty sure I'm completing this series at this point not because it's been so good, but because it's so fast and I am actually curious how they wrap this up. - The plot feels too familiar I think is my problem. The dialog is fine, characters have clear motivations, structurally there is nothing wrong here... it just feels like it's been done better in other places.
Reserving ultimate judgement till it's over, but the series is hovering around 3 stars for me.

Il avance, petit à petit, jusqu’à son but : Chang’an.

Whatever target audience this series was made for, I doubt I'm a part of it; I felt this book was overall boring, just like the rest of this series. I guess liking a video game is different than liking the book within the same franchise but an offshoot that's different when expectations arise. I'm sorry, but I'm giving this book a one-star rating because I didn't like any part of it, from the artwork style to confusing plot, and just like the first and second volumes, this storyline blended with them, so I couldn't make heads or tails of the plot all three days I spent reading this series. No, I won't be continuing to read this saga, but that's okay, because I’ve discovered a manga I'd prefer to avoid in the future. I'm sure this saga is great to a teenage boy obsessed with historical assassins, but I'm just someone who can't get in on the hype even when I really wanted to in reading the start of this saga.

I noticed that this entire series did not get any reviews written by me, so this is just a mega review for the entire series, as it is really not that long.
This is a very interesting story about China in the Tianbao Era, that provides one with a pretty good understanding of how the Chinese society (with focus on high class) was behaving at the time. It was extremely interesting, but it did not feel very connected to the overall Assassin's Creed franchise, instead it felt more concentrated on the specifics of this series of manga, so it is not really necessary for an understanding of the video games. However, this was a very interesting read that looked really good, so it is a recommended read.

I really enjoy the action sequences. Large scale and small scale action is just stunning to follow and doesn’t turn into a blurry indecipherable mess I tend to see in manga sometimes.
I would like some more Assassin’s Creed stuff and maybe a bit less war stuff… but who knows what next volumes bring.

From where vol.2 ends and vol.3 starts there’s abit of a time skip that leaves historical events roughly mentioned but not shown. This leaves the reader to see events already in motion without the info of all that happen unless un read up on China Tang dynasty history of that timeframe.

I love how Assassin’s Creed weaves fiction into history so well. When you find out that a lot of the characters in this manga actually existed, it just enhances the experience and makes me so much more interested.

Oke that was a fun read, nothing special but I'm not expecting things to change over the course of the next two volumes since we're already a third into the series.
My main complaint is that the story has too many characters and not enough pages to flesh them so there is little time to get to know them.
I also wish we saw more of the Chinese Assassin's and how they functioned, for now this is a story with Assassin's Creed elements attached too it. This is not perse by defintion a bad thing but I think this is not only a wasted oppertunity but also to flesh out Li's character more.
I will finish the series not because I think it's a must read but because I'm curious as to where the story is going.
