I simply could not put this book down. The main character, Brooklyn, goes through a metamorphosis. She starts out in a cocoon and emerges from it a beautiful butterfly. You really have to cheer for Brooklyn as she manages the obstacles that get in her way and learns from her mistakes as she tries to navigate her way through this new chapter in her life and coming to grips with her diagnosis and learning she can LIVE with her disease. It’s good to see her break free from her thoughts and fears, take chances and start truly living life.
I liked that the characters were described well, and attractive to the reader, conversations normal and well-done. The subject matter was deep at times but there was balance to the book as well, bit of humor, a bit of romance; just a perfect novel! Can’t wait to read more.

This is a story with a powerful message. Not only does it delve into Huntingtons and how the lives of those with it are affected, but it also really shines a light on hope and perseverance and loving yourself no matter what.
Hutchison manages to take the reader into the story and completely submerge them into the characters world and make them feel every single things that happens along the way. The characters were charismatic and drew the reader in.
Wonderfully crafted story from start to finish. Can’t wait to read more.

The idea that you never know a person until you walk a mile in their shoes is driven home in this tale of self-discovery. Despite being picture perfect on the outside, Brooklyn Monti struggles to balance the longings of her heart with the reality of her illness, a hereditary nerve disease she believes makes her unfit to be loved. Naturally, most readers will buy this book for the romance that inevitably arises to complicate the plot, but I believe the book's real draw is it's message: A life lived in fear is a life half lived, so take the chance and live to the fullest.

Life isn't always cut and dry. Sometimes it can throw you for a loop and then continue to do so. Expect the unexpected. This really highlighted that for me.
This book is so well written you feel like you live in it. Her descriptions of places, emotions, and relationships are very realistic. She made me laugh and cry and dragged me deep into subjects I have never thought about before.
Didn't want this book to end! Can't wait to read more.

For me it was a book that delivers everything a reader craves.

This powerful story goes right for your heart, seizes hold and squeezes out every last bit of emotion it can.

There are many moments in this book that touched my heart. I'm looking forward to reading more.

This is a thoughtful story, told through the eyes of Brooklyn, a woman with Huntington’s Disease. The author does a great job of describing Brooklyn’s struggles, and she really brings the characters to life, especially Brooklyn’s lover, her friends and business partners, and her toxic former boyfriend. She also has a good ear for dialogue. Highly recommended.

Tasha Hutchinson wrote a beautiful book with Broken Petals. From the analogy to the realization the story had a steady flow of intrigue. I found myself asking what I would have done. Not to put spoilers in here, but there are definitely some surprises.

Just, wow. I'm not sure what I was expecting from a book about life with Huntington's (a disease I, admittedly, know virtually nothing about) but man was this a wild ride. Obviously given the description I was prepared for some romance and Brooklyn's struggle with opening up to others about her disease but this book was so much more than that, and helped put into perspective all the MANY difficulties and uncertainties a person with the disease will face. It is so humbling and emotional, and my heart broke for this charcter and everyone she represents.but the heartache was so worth it to see her grow and realize how strong she is as a person. So glad I read this, and I can't wait to see what comes next from this author.
