As we continue to fight for equality for women it is imperative to include the voices of women of color. This collection of essays by 12 women of color is a must read for anyone interested in social justice. Each woman shares her personal experiences with racism and sexism in America and Canada. In the face of racism, sexism, loss, violence they found joy and triumph. As they share with us the challenges they’ve faced they share with us their journey and the various paths they’ve taken to achieve success and fulfillment. Their stories are both enlightening and inspiring, and they don’t end there. Each woman has found a way to become a light to lead other women of color as they transform their lives and incite change. I look forward to following these women in their future endeavors.
