After years of struggling to catch a break in Los Angeles, Alyssa was just about ready to give up on her dream of being an actress.
At thirty years old, her chances were only getting slimmer. Plus, she'd missed out on time with her family over the years while she attended parties and social functions, hoping to meet someone influential who might give her a chance. Alyssa wouldn't miss her brother's wedding though.
The very last person she expected to see there was her high school history teacher, Ms. Reed, someone she'd had a massive crush on as a teenager.
Stephanie Reed had no interest in getting involved with anyone again.
She'd been through a messy divorce, and at the age of forty-five, she was starting to think that being single wasn't so bad.
But the more time she spends with her friend's younger sister, the more she remembers what it's like to have that connection with someone.
4 stars. Age gap with some fake dating thrown in. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Alyssa was a student of Stephanie’s fifteen years ago and she had a huge crush on her. Stephanie is best friends with Alyssa’s brother Tyler so they run into each other at Alyssa’s family’s house for dinner and they had some instant chemistry. Alyssa is a struggling actress and Stephanie is a professor who has been through a terrible divorce. When Stephanie gets hit on at Tyler’s wedding she gets Alyssa to agree to be her pretend girlfriend to get the guy off of her back and they find that they really like each other and their romance goes from there. It’s a very cute and sweet read and it left me smiling by the end.
Age gap stories are my thing. This one did not disappoint. Emma Collins could never disappoint. You have a forty five year old teacher who is divorced and was not looking for love or was she. You have a thirty year old woman who has come home for Christmas from LA a flop. Her brother is getting married on Christmas and she was just barely getting home for the low key rehearsal dinner. The first person she sees is the teacher she had a major crush on in her sophomore year. Now best friends with her brother. What transpires after they re-meet, is a very cute funny and sexy love story. Love the characters and love the story. A must read!
Alyssa had a huge crush on her history teacher at the age of fifteen. After struggling to become a major actress in LA, at thirty she returns home for her older brother's wedding. She's quite surprised to run into her "crush" Stephanie at all the wedding festivities. She hadn't realized that her brother and Stephanie had become good friends while teaching together. As a matter of fact, he's the one who had been encouraging her to date again after her wife cheated and remarried.
It's a cute age-gap story with endearing characters. The only thing missing for me was what Alyssa might do with the rest of her life!
Alyssa returns home for her brother’s wedding and literally bumps into Stephanie her high school history teacher crush. Old and new feelings emerge and they move through the weeks to find each other.
This is an age-gap, high-school crush tale with a few scenes of fauxmance to get the romance moving. Sweet story with a holiday theme and minimal angst.
The author has a knack for developing good, believable chemistry in few pages. High praise coming from someone who typically prefers longer, slow-burn romances.
