Life for Simone was everything until one fatal accident changed her life forever. Having everything taken from you will change anyone, but for Simone with her specialized training, it turned her into a monster. With nothing left to lose, she sets a plan into motion to get her revenge leaving everyone in her way dead.
This was very ok for me. I love a good revenge story. More times than not, they’re very satisfying. However, I found more to critique than enjoy here. The pacing was breakneck speed, which really made all of the crucial plot points, trauma, and emotionality suffer. Simone was a fine lead, and the author did a decent job keeping the focus on her. But, with the limited runtime here, there was way too much focus on the supporting cast, as opposed to really doing a much more substantial dive into her character. There were also some really questionable creative decisions concerning the abrupt and seemingly incomplete ending, along with other tidbits throughout. I know that I sound negative here, but I really didn’t dislike this book. Just had a lot of things that didn’t jive with me. Lots of simple fixes here, ie if the author has kept Simone as the primary focus, stretched the story out a little more, and further developed certain aspects, this would have joined the ranks of being an enjoyable, emotional, and action-packed tale of vengeance.
I have to admit King needs a better editor, but King's imagination is beyond phenomenal. She really needs to stick with this genre, this is her calling.
I enjoyed the storyline but there were some obvious grammatical errors, timeline mixups & character confusion that made it difficult to follow. I felt like the story would’ve been even better with some editing. The author also continues to use “shoulder shrug” religiously in all of her books. I almost gave the book 2 stars because this is the 9th or 10th book by this author with mixups & grammatical errors but the storyline kept me from dropping a star.
This book was sooo good for a short story. All I can say is never underestimate the will of a mother and a wife. Simone was not playing she took care of business when it came to her husband and daughter. I totally understand where she was coming from. I also felt bad for her brother Justine because he was a cop and he wanted to help his sister so bad. I really felt bad for Simone
Another great read Linette King!! This story had me crying, angry ,tense all kinds of emotions .The one thing I wished would have been different was Joey's situation. He clearly wasn't "about that life".To anyone who likes a short story, can't put down til the end book, read this!
Simone lived a quiet, family life that contrasted with her past as an government worker. She loved her life as a mother and wife until some people threatened her way of life. When Simone is threatened, life becomes shorter for those involved.
This was a good read but it was too short. But with the book being short it made the good parts come much quicker. I prefer when a book is not long and drawn out.
Nothing like a mothers love and a wife that loves her husband. But soon the people that have brought trama to her life will find out 1 by 1 the cost they will have to pay because of her broken heart. This is a story of a past and a present colliding and one will be the victor.
All I can say is be careful of the company u keep!!! Too many people like Joey trying to fit in, sometimes it really do be family that can get u caught up trying to fit in, Joey should have listened to his own thoughts!
I'm totally with Simone. I would have done the exact same thing especially knowing that Jada would be the ONLY life outside of my own I would create. I hate Tyrone was a casualty but am glad get brother chose family over duty. Fantastic Read!
