Mission first.
Mission is why I am here on Earth.
Mission is the beginning, the middle, and the end of my entire existence.
I must remember my Breed. Remember my ancestors. Remember why I must continue on.
I can never forget what matters more than anything…
Survival.
Survival is everything.
Survival trumps all.

My mother said I should never allow my Shadow to control me.
But she was wrong.
It was my Shadow that drove me.
My Shadow that pushed me forward.
My Shadow that kept me alive.

The second book in the Breed series picks up right where the first one left off...in complete and total chaos. Siren flees OM but not before making the decision to free Michael from the cage he never should have been in. Her mission is to make it to Kingdom B. First, she must escape the reptiles who are chasing her that are intent on catching and devouring her. To Siren, survival is everything. She must complete the mission she was sent to Earth for. Survival trumps everything.

“Remember your breed. Remember your ancestors. Remember why you continue on. Never forget what matters more than anything…Survival.”

Kingdom B was the Kingdom her people told her was her mission from the beginning. The kingdom that welcomed all breeds with open arms. Make it to Kingdom B no matter what the cost. Even if you must betray those closest to you. One thing she didn’t expect to see was the Praetor of OM, Aedan.

“I have found the idea of Kingdom B is far more noble than the Kingdom itself.”

So much happens in this book and the pace is nonstop. Siren and the others quickly learn that the place they thought would offer sanctuary is not all it seems. Secrets, lies and betrayals hide in the shadows and all the breeds may not survive the battle that is sure to come.

“We were creatures who had no reverence for life. How could we ever succeed?”

I didn’t think there was any way possible that this book would be as good as the first. Breed was one the best books I’ve read. While I hoped this one would be good, I didn’t expect it to blow the first one out of the water. Shadow was brilliant. Siren and Aedan’s characters are some of my favorites. I loved them even more in this book. The author pulls us into this intricately detailed dystopian world that kept me captivated from beginning to that jaw dropping cliffhanger at the end. The characters, the breeds, the kingdoms...everything about this series so far has been phenomenal. The author doesn’t hold back, and I am one hundred percent here for it all. The cliffhanger shocked the hell out of me, and I cannot wait until the next book. Shadow was one hell of an amazing follow up to Breed. This series is a must read!

“We will not live in this world. We will fight for something new.”

"Desperation is the seed of devastation"

Holy Crispy Crackers 😳
I went back and reread the first book because it's been a while and this series is that intense and that enjoyable

"A series of moments of chaos with brief glimpses of peace"

I don't want to give any spoilers -
So this will be more a "Do not pass this series up" type of share

Book two picks up right where we left off
Siren is fleeing OM
The reptiles are hot on her tail
Everything is in chaos and just as our young traveler believes she has found sanctuary
Someone unravels another thread

This is a well-written Science fiction adventure containing page after page of suspense with twists and betrayals that you don't see coming but make sense given all the treachery. Some light romance embedded within an easy to follow storyline that is packed with characters that will capture your heart and ignite your ire
For those who enjoy adventure fantasy that keeps the reader engaged and entertained this is a must-read series

The author does a very remarkable job building a futuristic world where survival of a species is key.

This book picks up where the first one ended. And one soon learns that the Kingdom Siren was meant to go to from the start isn’t safe as she had hoped when she goes there seeking asylum. Huge distrust between Breeds is heavy on the minds of the Bird people and rightfully so as the reader will discover. Siren will need to keep her wits and friends close as an epic battle is shaping up.

Siren is one awesome character. She is strong and resourceful. Her inter-breed romance with Aedan is bumpy as expected after the Reptiles attack. But it still is so swoon worthy. Expect some hard hitting twists and twists along with another shocker of a cliffhanger.

* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

Shadow, is the second book in the Breed series. The books should be read in order. This book starts right where Breed ended. Just like the first book, Shadow is fast paced and I couldn’t put it down. It has some twists and turns, with a touch of romance. I love the two main characters, Aedan and Siren. One of my favorite parts of the book is the world building. This book ended on a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to read what comes next.

Shadow by C. Abedi is the next instalment in the Breed Series. This is not a stand-alone. The books are best read in order. The previous book is Breed and tells the beginning of Aeden and Siren's story.

Set in a dystopian world in the far, far future, Shadow is just like the first book, a gripping, stunning story, excellent told, beautifully thought out and beautifully told.
A literally unputdownable read, a read cover-to-cover in one sitting book and great just great.
A action packed, drama filled, fast paced instalment in this outstanding series.

Powerful story!

Again this story grabs you and holds on to you even at the end. We seenin this story many of mankind's problems today and throughout history, presented in a story setting. The world building and details are wonderful, the display of characters and their emotions allow us to bond and feel them. The action is displayed clear and orderly, with resolutions to the problems. For a fast paced well written set of books buy and enjoy this story. You won't regret!!UPDATE! - The e books that make this series were written in 2021, almost 5 years ago. This second book ends with a cliffhanger, unfinished storyline. I looked for author pages on Facebook and others but just found a couple personal pages that are not current. The series looks like it's going to stay incomplete due to the big time gap in publication. This author seems to have moved on, be aware of this before you buy!!

EXCELLENT Again 😁

So far this series continues to show just how much the human spirit wants it all for themselves 😕. The powerful want everything for themselves and the poor are the ones who pay for it 😣. Just how long will we believe that others will take care of us, we will do NOTHING to change our ways 🙀. Thanks so much Colet, for passing on the truth in a most pleasing way. Unfortunately, most of the human race is a virus that plagues the world 😲. I look forward to reading this next book 🤓.

Oh what a tangled web we weave...

When first we practice to deceive! What a fascinating world Colet has conjured up for us. I thought her first book was mesmerizing but this one is even better. Our world has been fraught with deception since our creator put the serpent in The Garden of Eden! Our "rulers" have turned it into a fine art. I detested how the book ended. Can't wait for book three! This series is a must read.

This book picks up right where it left off which I loved because it plunges you right back into the madness! This book is just as intense & wild as the first book. We learn more about the breeds, & kingdoms. There’s more mystery, secrets, lies & truths to be uncovered with this read. It also leaves me so excited for the next book! This world is one of a kind!

More twist and turns abound in this book. I’m just totally glued to my kindle trying to figure out what’s going to happen next to Siren. The ending left me wanting more. I hope we don’t have long to wait.

unable to access the 3rd, which the ending of the previous 2 cliffhangers

The books a great but when you don’t have access to the 3rd, and believe me I have looked, it sucks. It’s like reading 2/3 of a novel. If I would have know this I would’ve never bought the first 2.

This novel picks up where the first finishes. It did not suffer from second book syndrome. Infact, it was better than the first! It was action packed, and we also got to see Siren grow more confident as a person and as a member of her breed. She was no longer reluctant to use her skills or stand up for herself. But, I could see that ending coming from a mile away. I predicted 'the news', shared at the end of the novel since Aedan's and Siren's 'moment' at the end of book one.
