After a sudden and violent turnover of power, New Clan is under scrutiny by the Conclave, the central governing body for all shifters.

Under threat of execution from her old Clan Leader, wolf shifter and author Maeve Walsh escapes and finds her way to New Clan seeking shelter and protection. It's with great relief she finds sympathetic Clan Leader Steph Garmin. Steph not only accepts her into New Clan but does everything she can to make Maeve feel welcome and safe.

Cyrus McCormick arrives in New Clan territory with very different motives than Maeve. Sent by a governing body fearful of change, his job is to find or manufacture evidence against the leadership of New Clan and see to it that a reversal of power happens, so tyrants are put back in control. Forced into his job as assistant to a Conclave Delegate, Cyrus does his best to mitigate the destruction the cruel Delegate, Phillip Jonas, enjoys causing. Often that involves picking one or two people to be Jonas’ targets. It’s harsh and he hates it, but better several people die than an entire Clan.

But then he meets Maeve and everything changes. The moment he sees her, he knows she's his mate, and he’s desperate to Heartmate Tie her. But she's everything the Conclave seeks to eradicate. She has a physical disability and yet the courage to challenge authority. She stood boldly against her old Clan Leader, and it almost got her killed. Given a chance, he knows she'll try to stand against Jonas and the Conclave to protect New Clan. It would be a last stand none of New Clan will survive because the Conclave is just too powerful.

Cyrus is out of time and options. If he doesn't act quickly enough, Maeve could be the next shifter "sacrificed" to keep order. But saving her might mean putting himself on the chopping block.

This is a 80K romance novel with a HEA. This story is intended for mature audiences, 18+ readers only.

Once again: these books are amazingly unique. So well formulated for the genre, you need to read them if you likie the shifter novels!

Two things I will say that suited my preferences:
--YASSSS, GIMME A BLIND HEROINE ALL DAAAAYYYY
--I usually don't like one of my hero/heroines combo to be anything other than human. If you give me two aliens, I get huffy, if you give me two shifters, I am displeased--and I almost never finish those books. But this one delighted me. DELIGHTED. That's some great writing, truly.

Highly, highly recommend. Even though (I thought) the hero in this book was super whiny and needy. AND I HATE THAT, BELIEVE YOU ME. It WORKED in this book, and I can't fault an author for such an incredible job well done.

Covers still need work though. This series is too good for subpar graphic design and illustration. Truly.

Awesome

I was on the hook on this one because Cyrus just seems to be like a cowardly lion abet for good reason due to his back story of his childhood. It does not take long to get to the heart of the story when he finds his heart mate Maeve and the rest is an awesome of the book becomes the journey. Very good writing and excellent description of the characters. The appearance of Steph and Eli,as well as their clan, was a great tie in for the second book. If you liked the first book this one will not disappoint you. Happy reading.

Lost Lion

The world building in this book is excellent. The reader gets the point of view of the two main characters but there are activities happening in the background that we don't find out until the end and they show just how clever Steph and her clan are. It was set up well and super fun to read.

The relationship between the two main characters bugged me. The MMC is annoying from the beginning but I think he is supposed to be. However, the part that bothered me the most is when he decides to kidnap the MFC because she is in danger. She specifically tells him no but he decides to tie her up and ball gag her anyway. No consent is always a bad idea. Then we are told it's romantic,

“And then he tied me up and tried to kidnap me.” She feels tears well up. This is all a big mess.
“I think it’s romantic,” Steph declares.

It's even more disappointing that Steph says this. The FMC forgives him for this but feels betrayed when he makes reference to a past trauma. She is blasé about him violating her physical boundaries but not her emotional ones? I guess this sort of makes sense but it bugged me. Plus she is so great at martial arts, it's not believable that he could have tied her up anyway.

I love how powerful she turns out being. He may be the idiot brawn but she is definitely the brains, courage, and resolve.

Kind of boring - read on KU

I had a hard time pushing through this book. It was boring. The MMC has no clue how to woo a woman, which was kind of cute but was often boring. It could have been cuter. I also never warmed up to him. Maeve was great. She proves to be maybe the strongest of them all. Steph also proved to be cunning. There was a portion at the end that was interesting but it was rough going up to that point.

I also ind this author's steamy scenes to be not so steamy. The ones in the first book were better than these.

I don't love the shifter world. Most shifter books have packs ruled by alpha pairs, whereas clans here just have one leader. They're working to change that. The conclave aspect was kind of interesting. It's not uncommon to have a shifter government of some sort and this was an interesting take on that. They are truly evil.

The book and series isn't all bad but needs to be better developed. I also am not so sure about how far into the mystical the end of the series seems to reach. I'm not going to read the 4th book. I did kind of enjoy the 1st one, so I'm on the fence about trying the 3rd. I kind of want to read about Donovan. I do like him and like his relationship with Eli.

I think the author has potential, though.

Cyrus' heartmate

Cyrus works for the political organization for shifters and he has to go and investigate the New Clan. When he arrives he meets Maeve and realizes she's his heartmate. Maeve is blind from a shifter disease that normally leads to the shifter being killed by their leader.

Cyrus has to now figure out how to court his heartmate and make a report on the New Clan that won't lead to their distraction. This is a great continuation of this series and it continues to build RK's shifter world. I am not blind but I felt that there was a good description of how someone with blondness navigates and how others often treat them.

H was interestin in that he focused on h from start, but didn't seem very smart, he wants to run when his horrible boss/owner comes in to kill all the new clan. h was real hero of book, she saves the day and kills main baddie,H's boss/owner and gives speech. She is blind, considered worthless to most shifters but finds a home with New Clan and isn't about to run despite the H. Liked it, maybe less then 1st book.

I never thought an author would make a main character blind in an urban fantasy romance book, but it works. Maeve is a kick-ass h even if she is "ghost eyed" which means she's blind. Cyrus is conflicted but knows he adores her. I thought this was a good second book in the series and I'm looking to finding out more about Tavi in the third book.

ghost-eyed gift

Lost Lion is book two in the series New Clan Shifters by author RK Munin. An interesting read that keeps you guessing. Book one was all about balance this one was more “I don’t know”- the characters didn’t realize their abilities.
Anywho, it has moments of action- drama- and bits of fun.
Enjoy!!

RK Munin does it again!!! Draws you in so much that you want to throttle, hug or cheer for her characters! Cyrus and Maeve really got to me! I ran through the whole gamut of emotions from frustration to elation. What a read!!!

Powerful

The story begins with Cyrus being portrayed as timid but as the tale continues there is change brought about by exposure to Maeve and the New Clan. Powerful series, great storyline.

Love, love, love it

I love Maeve, what a gutsy heroine! Cyrus has much to learn, the reason was he was taken from his family at a young age. This story has danger, action, romance and we learn more about the characters that populate this world. I loved it!

I am loving this series and can't wait to read the next one. It's a great story with us getting to meet new characters and revisiting old ones. I love that it is interconnected and hope to see new and old characters in the next story.

A good read.

This is the second book in the series. Just as good as the first. This could be read as a stand alone, everything is explained very well.

Wow this story is intense. Once I started this series I had to read everything in it. New Clan continues to collect wayward and strays from the paranormal world. Most unique series I have ever read.
