The Copper Valley Thrusters #0-2

The Copper Valley Thrusters Origin Series

Rate this book
A billionaire boss, a terror on the ice with ego to spare, and a hockey-playing prince are here to entertain you with their love stories in this box set introducing the Cooper Valley Thrusters hockey team!

'Mister McHottie' is the hilariously sexy prequel to the Copper Valley Thrusters series, where you'll first meet the twin tank hockey players who inspired the next books. It comes complete with an organic happy-ever-after (or seven), a Bratwurst Wagon ill-advised office pranks between a billionaire boss and the woman he tormented as a child, and no cheating or cliffhangers.

'The Pilot and the Puck-Up' is a stand-alone romantic comedy featuring a hockey player whose ego is the only thing bigger than his shoe size, a fierce lady-boss pilot, rubber chockey (don't ask), and no cheating or cliffhangers.

'Royally Pucked' is a side-splittingly epic romance between a spare heir and the lady least likely to ever wear a princess crown, complete with dirty cookies, and emotional support monkey, and lots of pucking around. This romantic comedy stands alone with no cheating, cliffhangers, ends happily with a family of. . .more than two.

Pippa Grant wanted to write books, so she did.

Before she became a USA Today and #1 Amazon bestselling romantic comedy author, she was a young military spouse who got into writing as self-therapy. That happened around the time she discovered reading romance novels, and the two eventually merged into a career. Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.

When she’s not writing romantic comedies, she’s fumbling through being a mom, wife, and mountain woman, and sometimes tries to find hobbies. Her crowning achievement? Having impeccable timing for telling stories that will make people snort beverages out of their noses. Consider yourself warned.

Narration Type: Duet & Dual Narration

Mr. McHottie - Chase and Ambrosia grew up together in a small Minnesota town. Though things didn’t end well between them. Ambrosia now works for Crunchy, an organic food company in social media marketing. She loves her job, but when the company is bought out by billionaire Chase Jet, she thinks it might be time to get a new job.

The two main characters have a strange and kind of funny backstory involving a bratwurst wagon. Chase had once been looked upon as a part of Ambrosia’s family, she was his best friend’s little sister. They had a prank war going on for years while they were kids, and he took her virginity before betraying her. Ambrosia decides that she isn’t going to quit the job she loves. Along with her best friends, they decide to make him pay for what he did when they were teenagers.

The Mr McHottie audiobook was done in dual points of view via duet narration. It was narrated by Ava Erickson and Aiden Snow. These are two of my favorite narrators and always do a terrific job. The story is interesting, and I liked the acerbic banter between the two main characters. There is also some awesome dirty talk which is pretty hot, and their intimate scenes are quite steamy.

The Pilot and the Puck-up - The Hero in this book was Zeus Berger, brother to Ambrosia from Mr. McHottie. Zeus and his twin brother Ares are both great characters. They are professional hockey players on two different teams. They are the biggest guys in professional hockey (or really anywhere), both of them are about 7 feet tall, musclebound and great at what they do. Zeus is the brains out of the two of them. They are also both pranksters and always have a lot of fun.

Joey was a great heroine and was pretty badass; she is a pilot that was special ops in the military, and she now owns her own airplane. She and Zeus meet at a charity event surrounded by the rich and famous. Zeus was winning a bet by being dressed as a woman, with a pink wig, coconuts on his chest, a skirt and size eighteen pumps. Joey says he looks like an overgrown hooker troll and calls him Zeusette.

Joey had been underwhelmed by all of her previous sexual encounters and had never let them get very far, so she was still a virgin, but she definitely knew what she wanted in bed, so when Zeus was gone in 60 seconds, she hightailed it out of there and was quite disappointed. It was quite the funny scene and I liked the relationship between these two quite a bit.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via duet narration. It was narrated by Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke, who are every bit as good as the narrators of the first book. I love Erin Mallon’s clear, feminine voice and Jason Clarke’s gravelly deep one.

Royally Pucked - Gracie is the sister of Joey from The Pilot and the Puck-up. Manning is the spare prince of a small Scandinavian country, who was sent to the US for a year after causing a scandal in his own country. He is also a professional hockey player. The two first met at the same charity event where Joey met Zeus in the last book. Gracie owns her own bakery, though is a bit on the innocent side as she was raised in a small town on the border between Alabama and Tennessee. Her sister Joey is overprotective of her since she is the younger sister.

I like that Gracie is attracted to Manning but told him that she was basically just using him to torture her sister Joey who was driving her crazy. Manning, on the other hand, is betrothed to a woman named Ellen in his home country, to a woman his grandfather promised him to. Though he kept telling his father that he doesn’t want to marry the woman, he did promise to do so after the scandal he caused. When Gracie finds out she is carrying a royal heir, things get a bit messy.

I liked the story much better than I expected. Though the premise of a prince playing hockey for a professional team in the US is a bit far-fetched. The story about Manning being stuck with his betrothed was interesting. Apparently, his grandfather squandered the royal fortune and agreed to the marriage in exchange for an interest free loan from the Ellen’s father. They still owe him money to this day and the debt will be erased when Manny marries Ellen. If he doesn’t marry her the debt will not only come due, but the father will use the fact that the royal fortune was squandered to get Manning’s family out of power. So, he is well and truly stuck.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Jacob Morgan and Virginia Rose. I wasn’t very familiar with Virginia Rose, but she did a fine job, though I’m not fond of her southern accent. Jacob Morgan is another of my favorite narrators who always does a terrific job and sounds conversational rather than like he is reading. He does a good accent, which is kind of English/Irish. Not quite Scandinavian, but it works.

Mister McHottie (The Copper Valley Thrusters #0.5)
I had so much fun listening to this quirky, heartfelt, steamy enemies to lovers romance. Chase and Ambrosia grew up together and have a history, that because of miscommunication, have left each other with scars. Now Chase is back in her life as her new boss and she is not happy about it. When she and her crazy friends want to prank his office one night, Chase finds Bro as she is trying to distract attention. They have a passionate encounter that reminds them of their explosive chemistry. They aren't happy about it and the insults fly fast and furious. But the insults and pranks are their foreplay and they can't seem to stop. Chase is so sweet, and swoony as he tries to make thinks right with Bro. Bro feels like she was robbed of her dreams, so she uses insults as a shield. She is funny and passionate and only wants to do what she loves. Ava Erickson, and Aiden Snow did a great job bringing this story to life. I love both their voices, along with their flawless comedic timing and dynamic voice changes. This is my first Pippa Grant audio and I will definitely check out more of her work.

The Pilot & the Puck-Up (The Copper Valley Thrusters #1)
I had so much fun listening to this hilarious, heartfelt, and steamy hockey romance. I fell for Zeus, the huge professional hockey player with an even bigger heart. He is smart, confident and unapologetically blunt. He easily has women throwing themselves at him, so when he meets Joey "Fireball' Diamonte, he is completely bowled over. Joey is ex-military, and is a pilot that runs her own flight adventure company. She is tough, athletic, loves taking care of her family, and never takes crap from anybody. She and Zeus are drawn to each other right from the start. They are so much alike as they care for those in need, and love a challenge. Joey doesn't give in easily to Zeus, making him work for her attention. There are so many hilarious moments when Zeus is out of his element, but it makes him want her even more. I love Zeus and Joey together! They really understand each other, are sensitive to each others flaws, and are so competitive, it only fuels their explosive chemistry. I also all their quirky friends and family, who made this story even more fun.
Jason Clarke, and Erin Mallon did a great job bringing this story to life. I love both their voices, along with their flawless comedic timing and dynamic voice changes as they delivered the clever, fast paced, snarky banter. They made this hilarious, heartfelt, and steamy story even better.

Royally Pucked (The Copper Valley Thrusters #2)
4.5 Hilarious Royal RomCom Stars!
This hilarious romcom was fun and sizzling from the very beginning and never slowed down. Manning is a real Prince from Stölland. He is not in line to become king but has been banished for a bit so they can clean up his latest scandals. Because he loves and played hockey on Stölland's olympic team, he moved to America to play on a professional hockey team there. He meets and is intrigued by Gracie, a fiesty, beautiful baker. They have a night of fiery passion that results in Gracie getting pregnant. She is determined to raise her baby on her own, without trapping Manning, but would like him to be involved. Manning is surprised by how much he wants Gracie and their baby. When unexpected royal duties get in the way, Manning tries to protect them by leaving. But Gracie doesn't want him to suffer his fate if she can help him. But can a sheltered southern girl with a potty mouth be enough to defy a king and save Manning? I love how strong Gracie is despite her insecurities about some things. She is smart, loyal and spunky and the perfect match for the sweet, and swoony Manning.
This entertaining story is brought to life beautifully by Jacob Morgan, and Virginia Rose. I love both their voices, along with their flawless comedic timing and dynamic voice changes as they delivered the clever, fast paced, snarky banter. They made me laugh, swoon and cheer for Manning and Gracie's HEA. They made this hilarious, heartfelt, and steamy story even better.

Three hilariously swoony novels

4.5 stars. This box set has three full novels mostly focusing on the Copper Valley Thrusters hockey team. All of these hilarious romances have a little bit of everything - sweet moments, fan your face steam, painful pasts, strong friendships, crazy families, snort worthy moments, cute animals, and so much love. While the books are quite funny, they also have three dimensional characters, witty dialogue and engaging storylines. These books are also for all the men and women that think they are too big a disaster for, or too weird, and are inherently unworthy of beautiful, sweet, fairytale love.

Mister McHottie - 3.5 stars

I love Pippa Grant’s books but this is my least favorite of hers. In my opinion, for an enemies to lovers trope to work well, the author has to find a balance between animosity between the main characters without tipping into meanness or abuse. Unfortunately, there was too much meanness between the main characters to be a good romance for me. Angry sex is good but not with some of the comments between the MCs here, it was more like hate sex. We first meet the Berger twin hockey gods, Zeus and Ares, in this book because Ambrosia is their sister.

The Pilot and the Puck Up - 5 stars

On the surface, Zeus and Joey both appear to be too rough around the edges and too big of personalities to be a good match together. Zeus is a 6’9” mountain of a man who’s a professional hockey player. Everyone believes he isn’t very bright and see him only as a sideshow freak. Joey is not a typical woman. She is a swearing, hard driving pilot who owns her own company and flies planes that simulate Martian, moon and zero gravity. Neither Zeus nor Joey believe they will ever have a spouse or kids because they’re too weird but love finds a way regardless of our weirdness. On their way to their HEA, Zeus and Joey have to both learn a lot about love, trust, letting go of fear, and learning to embrace who you are.

Royally Pucked - 5 stars

I love a book that includes a happy, sunshine and quirky girl and a tortured hero. Gracie and Manning’s love story has all the feels - expect to laugh and cry. Plus there are x-rated cookies and an emotional support monkey. On the surface, Gracie and Manning appear to be opposites. Manning is a prince from a small European country who has been relegated to the United States to play professional hockey and clean up his image before he has to return to marry the woman chosen for him. Manning is determined to smile through everything. Gracie is a small town southern baker who barely passed high school, secretly sells x-rated cookies, swears too much and is definitely not princess material. After meeting at a charity event, Gracie and Manning have one quick sexual encounter in the locker room of the hockey team which leads to an unexpected pregnancy, and that is where the hilarity begins. On their way to their HEA, Gracie and Manning have to both learn a lot about love, family, duty, and embracing who you are. While they follow the inevitable path to being together, it is painfully hilarious to watch their growth and missteps.

Sprinkled liberally throughout these beautifully paced stories, there are also some other characters from the Pippa Universe. It is okay if you have not yet read the love stories of these characters though. They are woven seamlessly into the stories so rather than being overwhelming or detracting from the main love story, the side characters are beautiful additions to the unfurling of the MC.’s dance of love, passion and hilarity. Expect to feel all the feelings with these books.

Mister McHottie
The comedy in this book won’t be for everyone, but my off-kilter off-color sense of humor adored every breath-stealing moment of it. My sides hurt from laughing so hard and I’m certain my eyes were watering more than once. Ambrosia and Chase and their hate-hate dynamic drove me absolutely mental most of the time, but it worked for me. This felt like the crazy kind of drama that can only be found on scripted reality television – my not-so-secret guilty pleasure. These characters are so very over the top and I’m dying to read more about every single one of them.
The Pilot & the Puck-Up
This book may be a stand-alone story, but there are a lot of nuances in the story that won’t make as much sense without knowing something of the books that have come before it. It seems a little strange after seeing Zeus as not much more than the goofball meathead of his sister’s story to discover just how much of himself is hidden behind that social mask. I adored the great big heart he was protecting. I love that Joey is large and in charge and isn’t at all afraid of letting the men around her know it. Unfortunately, that was also what I didn’t like about her. She comes across as confrontational and more than just a little b!tchy about it. I had issues connecting with her until she starts to let her control slip. As with the previous books, this one kept me laughing. Often the humor was the level of tweenaged boys with poop jokes, but there are times that’s exactly the humor I’m looking for.
Royally Pucked
I had so much fun reading this book. But for some reason, it’s just not sticking with me. I loved Gracie’s spunk and independent attitude in the previous book, however there’s not as much of it in evidence this time around. Manning is still the Clown Prince, and we see some hints that there’s a lot more behind this behavior. I just don’t remember seeing a good explanation for what was driving him to act out this way. (I don’t consider his hated betrothal to be a good excuse.) There’re some seeds in here that could have made the story utterly fantastic; such as if it had dug in more about Gracie’s dyslexia. I also thought the ending wrapped up too quickly for my preferences. There’s stuff that happens before the epilogue that I want to know more about, especially Elin’s somewhat cryptic phone call at the end.

If you want feel good, fun romcoms, look no further. Pippa Grant has you covered! Grab this first part of the Thrusters series! Mister McHottie is a goal scoring book! Chase and Ambrosia(Bro) have a history. The best friend of her twin brothers, their times together were just as you would imagine. The banter and antics of brothers and sister alike turned into much more drastic for Chase and Bro as they became adults. Now striving for her dream, she finds out he bought the supermarket chain she works for. Will that spark of hate burn into something more? Grant has created an fantastic couple. These two have combustible chemistry, and their banter had me walking around with a smile.

Next we have Royally Pucked and it's especially good because of the amazingly strong heroine. Meet Gracie. A baker by trade, she hooks up with hockey player, Manning and later finds is pregnant. Manning is no ordinary hockey player, but Prince, with royal obligations and expectations. Determined to raise the baby alone, she finds herself in the midst of a wonderful love story. Now Grant doesn't just let it slowly unfold and let them easily get to their happy ending. We have pranks, and cookies, and the betrothed and family and hockey players all bringing us into the story full force.

Lastly we have Beauty and the Beefcake. This one is especially fun, as it has a variety of personalities in our heroine, Felicity. She is an amazing ventriloquist, who has been trying to find herself. Now with a crazy ex stalking her, she needs some protection. Ares is an injured hockey player, a man of few words, who needs to rest and heal. Who better to be put together? This set up is so good, with the talkative Felicity, misunderstood, and underappreciated she is a woman we can all find something in common with. Ares, with his one word grunts, his persistence to be on the ice, and just his feeling of the underdog makes it impossible not to love him.

With a narration cast for each book, perfect for the characters, and spot on comedic timing, you can't help but have a good time! Grab this great boxset now!

I love all three of these books! 5 stars to all in my personal (and unbiased) opinion! Individual reviews below.

*Mister McHottie*

I've found a new hilarious author. This book had me swooning and laughing at the same time. Ambrosia's friends were great, her brother's were outrageous, and Chase was just a great hero; perfect for Bro.

*The Pilot & the Puck-Up*

I absolutely LOVE the Berger siblings, not just the twins but all three siblings! Reading this story made me love them even more! The pilot and the Puck-Up is another great story by this author. It's sweet, full of feelings, and totally laugh out loud wonderful. Who wouldn't be in love with Zeus, especially after reading this. Though I have to admit I wasn't a big fan of Joey at the beginning. She was hard and locked down and she just seemed emotionless. She was right at the end when she said that having feelings make you human. I think that's part of the reason I wasn't a big fan of hers until closer to the end. I just wanted her to be human, not some cold-hearted robot who was afraid to feel. But she was great for Zeus and he was great for her. Loved all the secondary character's, especially catching up with my favorite couple Chase and Ambrosia. Looking forward to Manning and Gracie's story and how they are going to get away with their love under the watchful eye of Joey!

*Royally Pucked*

Another great read in this series! I loved Mister McHottie (Chase and Bro) but Manning and Gracie are a definite contender for my favorite with them. These two are just perfect for each other and even though it took unforeseen circumstances to bring them together, I'm glad they found their HEA with each other. I felt so bad for Manning being forced into a marriage with someone who he didn't love but also learning of the issues because that brought on the betrothal. This man deserved happiness. Gracie was so sweet and perfect you couldn't help but love her. She had the air of an innocent young lady with the creativity of a dirty person. I loved it! Great read, great author! Looking forward to more!

This entire series SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!
The Pilot and The Puck Up
Loved loved loved this book! It had everything I look for in a book. We'd already met the hero in a different book (its a series but you can totally start with this book and still know exactly whats going on) and the heroine is a badass chick who is funny and takes no prisoners. Zeus had me laughing throughout (another reason I loved him) and the story had just enough sweetness and heat to not feel forced or overdone. I'm completely invested in this little book world this author created, and I can't wait until Zeus' brother Ares gets his HEA.
Royally Pucked
Oh my DOG this book was HYSTERICAL! Another great read from this author! For the first time from Ms. Grant I wasn't blown away by the hero (Manning). I liked him, I just am more looking forward to Ares, but she writes him so well I understood him alot better and was for sure in team Manning by the end. But GRACIE! Oh how much do I love that spunky little cookie baker! She was hysterically funny, and SO endearing! If someone doesn't root for her happily ever after while reading this story there is something wrong with their heart and they should get that checked out! (Of course I'm kidding I know not everyone is always going to love everyone but Gracie really is the best!) The icing on the cake (or cookie as the case may be with this story) is for sure Loki! I loved his antics, and he fit right in with the Gods Zeus and Ares to have Loki who is a God of (fittingly) Mischief. I am so looking forward to Ares book next!

I've been a fan of Pippa Grant for a while and although I started this series more in the middle of the books, as stand alone novels, you don't need to read in order. However, the wonder of her books is that all the characters are so entrenched through all the books- as a reader, I've gotten attached to them and their softer side along with their fun, crazy sides.

The first book is an "origin" series and while Chase is not a hockey player, Ambrosia is the sister to the scariest twins on the ice, Zeus and Ares, who each have their own books in this series. Funny and heartfelt, their story was a second chance romance and the greatest part is when there is the interplay between the different characters (oh the pranks).

The next book follows Zeus and his love, Joey, a tough pilot who brings him down a peg, which is awesome. It's funny, especially because this pro hockey player can't find his game off the ice and there were many times that I laughed until I teared up.

The final book in this series follows Manning and Georgie and is a surprise baby trope. While not my favorite of the series, it still brought a heck of a lot of laughs and part of the wonder of these stories is that the whole cast is constant and interconnected, becoming true (if fictional) friends that I'm just so happy to check in on. This series (both boxed sets) are must reads if you want funny, swoony rom-coms to take you away from this world today.

Ambrosia & Chase
They grew up together and made each other crazy. Now they work together and are making each other crazy, in a more adult way.
Joey & Zeus
Joey is a bad azz pilot and is good at everything. Zeus is a BIG bad azz hockey player that can’t manage to get himself under control and is fumbling up everything after meeting Joey.
Gracie & Manning
Seems to be a lot of crazy in this book. Manning is a prince but not the next in line. Gracie is Joeys sister and bakes erotic cookies.
All three books are hilariously entertaining. If you want to laugh and fall in love with great Characters Pippa Grant knows how to create just that. All of these books have hockey players in them, however she doesn’t get into the hockey aspect too much. Pippa’s books are pretty low angst with just enough heat to make them great. In my opinion, Pippa writes the best rom-coms. She also picks the best narrators. All of these are perfectly narrated with the best personalities.

Audio Review

This series is packed full of laugh out loud moments and plenty of hotness to go with it. We have Chase and Ambrosia in Mr. McHottie and they are hilarious. Then we get Zeus Berger who is Ambrosia's brother and Chase's friend and the big hockey player that falls for Joey who takes no prisoners' in The Pilot and the Puck Up. Last but not least is The Royally Pucked which is Manning and Gracie's story and full of a monkey and cookies. All three of these books are fantastic and stand on their own but are even better together.

The narrators were great in each of these three books. Perfectly cast for the characters and they all brought their A game. Great listen and I loved them. I highly recommend this set.

This book is hilarious! Pippa has captured the very best of these characters. I love how a massive alpha man beast can turn into a screaming little girl so quickly. Amazing! A brilliant performance from both narrators.

Hey you. Yes, you - the reader looking for something funny to ready with a side of steamy romance.

Grab this set immediately.

The three books will have you “laughing til tears run down your legs.”

Sia has everything going for her, until she comes face-to-face with her arch-nemesis. The man who stole her dreams in the back of a bratwurst wagon. Payback is a glitter-coated bitch!

Then, her over-the-top hockey-playing brother meets his match off the ice in the form of a smart-mouthed pilot.

And finally, a hockey-playing prince might have just met the love of his life, but sometimes duty means he’s royally pucked.

Fantastic series!

Pippa Grant has a brilliant mind or she’s straight up nuts. Maybe a little of both lol. Either way, I love her work. The snarky, the banter, the friendly rivalry in all her books is fantastically entertaining. The one liners are hilarious and my family looks at me funny anytime I literally laugh out loud, which was a lot.
Fantastic lineup of narrators who all give us an absolute stellar performance.
This review is for the box set books .5-2, all have an HEA and each can be read as a standalone.
I highly recommend this series!

Omg. I just love this box set. All the performances are amazing. We have for the men- Aiden Snow (as Chase), Jason Clarke (as Zeus), and Jacob Morgan (as Manning). The women was just as good- Ava Erickson (as Bro), Erin Mallon (as Joey), & Virginia Rose (as Gracie). Each story has its own quirkiness that you can’t help but keep listening to these Thrusters (with the exception for Chase and Bro- they are more like an intro into the Thrusters world) and how they find their HEA.

Cute stories

I enjoyed the stories. Each one got a little better. Grace was plain silly. I do not like how she kept saying she was dumb. There are some mislabeled in the stories where Joey is referred to as a he when she is a she. The monkey was just funny then you add the voice and that took it up a notch. I liked how Joey was better at everything! Definitely worth reading.

2nd time around.

This is my second time reading these books and they are even better the second time around!Pippa is one of my top 5 favorite authors and she never disappoints. I love that she put this origin series together. It was so fun to go back and remember where it all began. Zeus and Ares are absolutely so e of my favorites.
Definitely one click and read.

Fabulous collection

Books, 1-3 of the Copper Valley Thrusters. You will laugh and cry at all the goings on in each book. The couples are charming and equally disarming in their own right. Pippa always brings great characters and plots to her stories. I highly recommend this collection.

Charming Trilogy

These earlier novels have aged well, although Grant’s more recent romances are more developed. This trilogy is high on humor as well as engaging characters, and the continuation of the Berger twins through the novels pulls them together nicely. The next 3 books in the series is also available as a set.

Currently re-listening to the series since it is now in a box set. I listened to them back in the day when they were released. Love all the silly pranks they play on each other. Also the narrators are pure perfection.

Always remarkable

No matter how many times I read Pippa Grant’s Thrusters series I am never disappointed. Every feel is there but more humor and steamy romance. I can’t get enough, so, I read and reread this series again and again. Pippa you are awesome my darlin. Thank you.

3 books

Fun & sexy, 3 standalone but inter-related books. Hockey playing men, interesting women. Some ridiculous humor masking real depth of characters. You do get to see a bit of past couples in later books. This series also includes bonus epilogues for each story.

This is the type of book series that you just never want to end. The stories are all unique and fabulous on their own. The cast of characters is funtastic fun and like coming home to friends with every edition.
