This was truly a marathon read and, in my opinion, should have been split into three or even four volumes. The stories were very different, some good and some not so good. However, the overall collection was entertaining. Unfortunately, the collection has been edited with the American market in mind and the stories contained many references/descriptions alien to British readers. Bear in mind that the stories were supposedly set in southern England.
This is a great collection and I really enjoyed reading it, there is a problem. This is supposed to be a collection of 28 books, but the book The Haunting of Devil's Asylum is missing. Therefore there are only 27 books in this collection. Everyone of them are worth the read and most of them are pretty short. That is great for people like me with very busy schedules. I can read almost all, if not all of one book on my hour break which is great. I would give a 5 star rating if it wasn't for the missing book
