Tome of Bill Universe #15.5
Sins of the Past: A Bill of the Dead / False Icons Crossover
BURYING THE PAST IS EASIER SAID THAN DONE. Ed Vesser feels trapped by his life - literally. He's being held prisoner by a would-be world conqueror. All he wants is to escape back to his fiancé, assuming she doesn't dump his ass when she finds out he's a vampire. Serena Taylor's a witch with a knack for technomancy - using her magic to help deliver unreal profit margins. Too bad she'll need to put in some overtime thanks to long-lost dryads and undead goons breathing down her neck. Now they're both stuck deep beneath Boston, exploring the ruins of a former vamp stronghold. She's looking to walk away with intel on the burgeoning vampire nation. He's simply hoping to walk away. Neither's going to be easy, especially once they realize they're not alone. When ancient evil stirs, Ed and Serena will discover they have one thing in common - a burning desire ... to stay alive as they learn that some secrets were meant to stay buried.

Its amazing how the "Billverse" has evolved that a somewhat Big Bang Theory-esque world where the vampire is an enormous sexist geek has become a place where you can do a Mines of Moria-esque dwelve with a teenage vampire warlord, dryads, and their slaves. It's a complicated and fascinating world. Newcomers will be completely lost but deep fans should really enjoy this work.

As great as always!
Loved this book. A lot of great characters and action the whole way through. I can't wait for the new books to drop in June!

Love it!
Ed is one of my favorites, so it is nice to have a book that he is one of the stars in. It is a seamless transition of the two authors and who wrote what, to the point that you would think it was the same person, which was great to me. I love the False Icon series and the fact that Bill's world is now colliding with Jessie's (or Gary's, as the case may be) is truly exciting to me. Highly recommend both series.

Finally, we get to hang out with Ed!
I love all the callbacks to the previous series and books the authors put in here. Plus, Gan! I found Serena interesting, but the best part of this for me was Ed and Dave snarking at each other. Dave is such a creep, you just love to hate him. It was a ton of fun getting inside the character Ed’s headspace for a change. He’s just as sarcastic as Bill, and every bit the reluctant hero as well.

If you've read the other series, this makes an excellent companion novel.
