I loved it so much!! It was just so unexpectedly good. The heroine was absolutely amazing—the perfect combination of softie, badass, and diva all in one. Her family was also incredibly wholesome and lovable. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I adored the main character's family in a story so much. Her love interest is the most ruthless warrior in the kingdom, and everyone fears him, but in reality, he’s the biggest softie and cutie in the world. I’m so happy he found Illya, because this woman is just perfect for him. Anyway, I can’t wait for the next chapters!
kept it on hold for about a month, then it struck me that I am not at all interested, I was just lying to myself that I was, because I love silly little stories, why wouldn’t I love this one? But maybe Manhwas isn’t my thing. I need to come in terms with that.
After going to a fortune teller Lilia was told--You will have luck in finance but disappointment in your love life. Upon hearing this she raced to her fiancé's home...only to find him in bed with another woman. How could she not see this despicable side of her lover? Has she been a pushover all this time?
So after licking her wounds and healing her heart Lilia reminds herself that is indeed that girl💅 and goes about breaking off her engagement. The problem however is that while her family might be richer than sin-her fiancé's family has powerful connections. So in order to ensure she ends the ill fated engagement contract she needs someone powerful on her side.
And with a chance encounter at a ball she finds her man...Young Duke Karhan...whose high position and fearsome reputation might make him the perfect contract partner.
But what's this? Behind his fierce expression and sullen attitude is actually a sweet puppy of a man with a shy and timid personality?!
While there's not a lot of action in this volume, it sets up our contractual relationship and character goals. The dynamic is a bit fun as both leads have trouble due to classism, family expectations, and the personal choices of others. There previous actions have grounding despite them being poor overall choices which keeps them sympathetic. It leans in hard to the contradiction that the cold battlefield duke is really a deflated, yes man. It is also a bit interesting that her family is grumbly fluff while his is trauma darkness.

10/10 @chp. 52 *end of season 1* been on hiatus since 9/8/2024
If you like Another Typical Fantasy Romance you will like this one. Similar vibes between the main couple where the male lead is misunderstood for being scary and a warmonger and the female lead helps him grow to learn to express themselves and have some more self love. Also has the parent dynamic where the mom is the super strong swordswoman and the dad is the cute more delicate type. *have read the 1st season of the manhwa twice now*
