Now that Sei has performed multiple miracles in the capital and beyond, her reputation is on the rise, as are her business ventures. Unfortunately, not everyone harbors entirely noble intentions for the Saint. Some would use her for their own ends. That's why Sei's friends and benefactors want to help her start her own company, as well as to secure her official place in high society--before someone tries to claim everything she's made, and everything she is, for themselves.

I'm not sure if this is an actually better volume or if it was just the novelty of reading past the anime after so long. In any event, I enjoyed it.

Didn't really finish it today, but no clue when I did, as it was sitting as "read" on my eReader app. Also don't recall anything about this one, other than I know I loved it, as I am apparently at 82% of the way through the next one...my eReader app is a tad over-full, so sometimes books or series I am reading get lost in the shuffle through no fault of their own.

Going to go with 4 stars, as I know I really enjoy this series.

I'm going to take a little break from the light novels at this point because I've just read all five in the same week, and the sixth isn't out yet. But it's a good time because after reading five in a row, I'm a bit cooked.

This volume felt like not much happened, and then the last sixty pages are bonus stories. There's a lot of cooking and not a lot of magic in this volume. I wanted the plot to move forward a bit more than it did. I'm hoping the next volume has more of Lord Albert in it.

At any rate, it's still good, but I'm a tad disgruntled. (Not that the author would care. LOL. I'm still coming back for volume 6 when it releases.)

Since when are the maids noble women? I have seen any evidence of that - they seem to be normal servants of the palace.

I can see that the marriage arc is about to begin and….I have an issue with it as part of this world. Sei is outside of their society, status-wise. Her existence is unique and comparable to the king. She has no family or political ties, and AFAIK she cannot pass her power on to children. Why is everyone insistent on holding her to the social norms of the Salutanian society? IMO this is a weakness in the author’s world building, that Sei is always having to do things she doesn’t want to because that’s “the way it’s done.” I know she considers herself a commoner because of her birth, but in this world, her “birth” was through a legendary spell, and she is literally saving their world. Due to a lack of knowledge about previous saints, there is no precedent for her behavior and lifestyle. Therefore she should be able to do things as she likes - anything improper that she does can be excused as “she’s the saint, she’s from another world,” and she can be as eccentric as she wants.

She considers Johan to be her boss, and the king as a separate boss, rather than her being an independent contractor. Does she get compensated for her Saintly endeavors? It’s hard to tell, but it doesn’t seem like she gets anything.

I’m glad she found rice at least. The existence of the other countries with different customs will be challenging to see how the author works that into her plot.

Despite being the Saint and a researcher, it seems more of Sei's experiments of late have had to do with food more than herbs. Herbs are certainly still in there, but now that she's learned more similar foods to what she was used to back in Japan do exist in this new world, she seems determined to find them for herself. Side benefit if Aira also gets to enjoy a taste of home that way and she's able to find some help benefit for it so perhaps more research funds can be used to purchase it in the future. As the Saint, she's also earning a tidy sum of both money and gifts as being out in the public means more people want to "wine and dine" her and try to curry favor. Fortunately, she has a pretty solid team of high ranking officials and nobles willing to help fend off the worst of the overtures, though they may not be able to for long. Johan certainly enjoys teasing Albert about such circumstances, though really, he's not wrong in saying he needs to make a move sooner rather than later or be okay with losing his chance entirely.

Sei is now fully recognized as the Saint and she is getting a lot more help from everyone not only on her research but also on her work as The Saint. Sei has missed her food from Japan. But after a small clue from a Trader, she goes to the biggest port of the Kingdom. There she discovers Rice and other things that she missed and is bringing back to the Research Center to try and cook. Everyone enjoys it and her powers keep growing as she fine tunes them.
She discovers other herbs and food can work and augment powers. This is the most important thing and something Sei will start looking at forwards.

Sei finds a source for rice and reluctantly makes her official Debut.

This volume felt a bit like fluff filler rather than actual story. Sei's extreme lack of self confidence with compliments irritated me a bit in this one - I'd like to teach her to simply say 'thank you' rather than blush redder than a fire truck and immediately proclaim that she's really not that special. I think I might pause in reading the light novels until the manga catches up to the storyline because I seem to like reading the story first with visuals.

Wherein our protagonist is formally introduced as the Saint, and where she finally gets her hands on rice and miso.

And I finally realise why I love this series so much. It's just so cozy and homely, and while Sei is incredibly overpowered, she's just so humble about it. Her reactions are so cute, and she still retains her lovely personality from her time back in Japan. Granted, I loved that this time we were treated to a few vignettes of her being annoyed about being in the centre of attention.

I can't wait to get my hands on more of her story!

Sei has full control over her powers now and after having dealt with several black marshes, she finally has some time for her own cooking experiments and a formal debut in noble society. The story itself is a short entertaining read, much like previous volumes with no action to speak off and a bit of experimentation with cooking and magic and a slow paced romance. I like the slow paced slice-of-life story, but it is certainly not for everybody.

Romance progress for sei with Hawke verbally stating his feelings for sei and having an opportunity to imagine them together as they dance at the ball. This is a great additive to the plot as it focuses rather on Sei's adaptation to the new world rather then her position as a Saint. Love it. Slow chapters like this is a must to build character and build our further understanding of the other world.

This was the most slice-of-life volume so far. Not the most memorable either but I enjoyed Sei's personal quest. My interest is also piqued by the new characters. This is my comfort fluff series so I know what to expect and this volume met my expectations for this series. I'm looking forward to the next volume.

This was so good!!!

I’m really excited because this is the first time in the series we have new content! What I mean by that is, we’re now past the point where season 1 of the anime ends and also past the point of where both manga series are at. So it’s really exciting!!

I loved this book a lot.

Can’t wait to read more!!!

Good entry after picking up reading again

"To tell you the truth, I had no choice but to give Albert a share. I’d stopped giving him homemade desserts for a time because I had found out he didn’t care for sugary snacks. But when he found out that I was denying him, he’d looked so depressed. I couldn’t stand seeing that beautiful man look so sad."

Sei, please feed your poor suitor.

Some light reading this time, but I'm absolutely delighted by the amount of scenes Yuri was in in this volume - he's so funny as a character, I appreciate him so much.

The newly introduced characters are interesting and I'd love to read more about them in the next book.

This volume is a little slow-paced, and mainly about Sei's search for rice, and upon her search, also stumbles upon miso.

Despite the slow pace, I still enjoyed this and look forward to the next volume.

This one starts after season 1 of the anime finishes. It’s really cute & a lot more interesting than past books. Still choppy, but a better story. The ball is adorable but needed a better finish and the bonus story with Albert is adorable.

this volume was a treat

I’m really in awe that so many earthly things are in that world. Like how many summonings did they have in that world. I’m starting to wonder when Albert will confess his love to Sei. More importantly I want to know more about the grand magus.

I do enjoy the developing relationship between Sei and Albert though it can get a little tiring how in denial Sei is about her feelings when it's kind of obvious Albert is interested in her. A couple other characters have pointed this out already so it looks like Albert needs to step up!

Rice and Misi

I was hoping this series would avoid it. 60% of the story was searching for and eating rice and miso. They did better than other series waiting until the 5th volume

Sei continues her journey . just a slow paced story, theres no action in this one. Its more of an intermission of sorts.

For a series I love, this one was a real slog. Honestly, it was boring. The writing style and characters got me through it, but it was mainly politics and food, which made it a really dry read.
