The misunderstandings in this romcom get scaled back as the relationship progresses, but some of the energy seeps out as sweetness oozes in. I'm not sure if this is going someplace or if it is just going to be noodling around from here on out.
There are at least five more volumes, but not at my library currently. If more show up, I might check them out.

Toramaru and Unoki are dating! In Toramaru’s mind anyway. But when she’s too flustered and he reads everything the wrong way… and there are a bunch of friends and relations who are less than helpful, this might need a little more time yet…
This book gets away with a lot because it’s quite enjoyable, but I couldn’t necessarily tell you why. It is giving life to some of the wheeziest jokes on this good earth and still manages to be fun. Certainly the art helps, as it can sometimes carry the day where the writing cannot.
The lamest stuff is at the start, partially because we get dumped back into things in media res and it’s been way too long since I read book one so it’s mostly smiling and nodding trying to pick things up. Toramaru’s surprisingly helpful younger brother, trying to goad his sister on because he loves shojo manga, is a fun addition to things.
I couldn’t even with the very, very excruciating chapter where Unoki is clearly talking about not-Toramaru, but she overhears and thinks it’s about her. I think they told that joke during the ice age. It does redeem itself by adding a meddlesome cat to the mix, but it is a series low point.
Basically my first volume review can largely be cut and pasted to this one. The two flunkies are clearly being used as yuri bait, even if one really hates Unoki, but she gets pummelled so much that it goes into serious Looney Tunes territory. There is no good explanation why that makes me laugh, but it does.
As things progress, despite everybody’s attempts, the stories do get better again. Unoki and Toramaru make a surprisingly solid couple and their eventual date when they eventually get around to going on it is a good time. It’s a cute twist that Unoki’s hard work as a lackey has turned him into a stellar boyfriend, if he only realized it.
The art remains a high point, although I would be remiss if I didn’t call out how incredibly thirsty the art gets during the dodgeball section. This story is very fun, but the ‘camera’ is absolutely in love with Toramaru in her gym shorts to the point of it being a little noticeable (ironic, since her wearing her jacket over her gym clothes is a really cute visual).
Honestly, if you liked the first volume, you’ll like this one. It’s not aiming to be much more than fun and it typically achieves that with a reasonable level of success. I’ll certainly be back to see who gets grievously injured next volume.

Okay, this was so fucking cute, like so damn cute, I can't take it. I don't even care how stupid and strained the misunderstanding is, these two are so damn cute together and I love it. The artwork and detail is really solid, especially the heavy use of shadows. I wish Toramaru and Unoki had more in common (hopefully this will come up later on), but still I really like both of them and am rooting for their relationship.

I don't care how repetitive the gimmick can be, they're so danged cute together! And there's actual progress this volume, too. It doesn't look like the series is going to be content playing out the same gag over and over forever, and is trying to flesh out more supporting characters as well as give Toramaru and Unoki some development in recognizing their own feelings. Unoki is starting to catch on that maybe Toramaru likes him, and maybe he likes her too, while Toramaru isn't content to let the relationship stagnate as she takes further initiative trying to do more couple-like things. They actually had a date at the end of this volume! And it was great!

Yeah I adore this series, i knew I would after the first volume but this one just cemented it!
The interactions with each other is so cute especially how they interpret everything into a misunderstanding. The last chapter with the date was just so Darn Cute I can't take it
