A two-book mystery bundle by debut author Ava Strong and #1 bestselling author Blake Pierce, author of ONCE GONE, a #1 bestseller on Amazon with over 1,000 five star reviews!
Here is a bundle of the first books in two different series—the Ilse Beck FBI Suspense Thriller series by Ava Strong and the Jessie Hunt Psychological Suspense Thriller series by Blake Pierce—all in one convenient place. This bundle offers a great introduction to each series with over 100,000 words of reading.
In NOT LIKE US (Book #1) by Ava Strong, FBI Special Agent Ilse Beck barely escaped a serial killer in the Pacific Northwest—and now, he is hunting her again. Or is he? Beck, a niche expert in serial killer survivors, has faced many monsters, and seen shocking cases—but this one may be the worst of all. Nothing can prepare Ilse for her new patient, a survivor from a near murder by a serial killer. The patient, paranoid, believes she is still being watched by the killer. And when the killer claims a new victim, the FBI needs Ilse’s help to solve it. This case and this killer, though, strike too close to home for Ilse’s comfort. When she realizes that she herself is being targeted, the trauma of her own past comes full circle. Can Ilse use her brilliant instincts to enter the mind of this killer and stop him before he strikes again? And will she save herself?
In THE PERFECT WIFE (Book #1) by Blake Pierce, criminal profiler-in-training Jessie Hunt is sure she's finally put the darkness of her childhood behind her. She and her husband, Kyle, just moved from a cramped downtown Los Angeles apartment into a Westport Beach mansion. Kyle's promotion has them swimming in money, and Jessie is on the verge of getting her master’s degree in forensic psychology. But soon after their arrival, Jessie begins to notice a series of strange developments. The neighbors—and their au pairs—all seem to be hiding secrets. The mysterious yacht club Kyle is desperate to join is rife with cheating spouses, and with troubling rules of its own. And the notorious serial killer being held at the psychiatric hospital where Jessie is completing her degree seems to know more about her life than is normal—or safe. As her world starts to unravel, Jessie begins to question everything around her—including her own sanity. Has she truly uncovered a disturbing conspiracy buried within a sunny, wealthy Southern California beach town? Does the mass murderer she's studying really somehow know the origin of her private nightmares? Or has her tortured past finally come back to claim her?

With compelling and perplexing psychological thrillers, rife with twists and jaw-dropping secrets, they will make you fall in love with their brilliant new female protagonists, while they keeps you shocked late into the night.

I do not like giving bad reviews because I know authors work very hard on the books they publish. I also never DNF a book, it goes against every fibre of my being no matter bored I am or how much I dislike the plot. Usually with my busy schedule a 500 page book takes about a week to finish. This 1? Took nearly THREE weeks.
Let's talk about "His Other Wife" first. I did not like any of the characters, including the female protagonist. She is constantly complaining about life choices that SHE made. Towards the end I had more questions than answers, but the biggest question is, where did the name of the book come from? There was no wife to begin with in the first place. When Stella discussed her concerns and problems with her best friend, she only gave her half of the information and skipped everything that was important. Why??? I was so mad at Stella that I wanted to throw my Kindle.
Then "The Perfect Wife". I love both Ava Strong and Blake Pierce's work, but these two took forever to finish and I was bored out of my mind. For most of the book, I also didn't understand where the name for the book came from. Luckily the book was saved towards the end and then it was shocker after shocker and I could actually find characteristics of myself in Jessie Hunt - pregnancy struggles, depression, passion for work, very busy husband, and and and.
Personally I feel that the climax was prolonged and that a lot of unnecessary information was added just to make the book seem longer, e.g. every visit to Club Deseo. I understand it was to inform the reader (and female characters) what the club really was about, but not every club visit was important for this information.
I did enjoy the twists and turns that Jessie's life took in His Perfect Wife, though. I am actually looking forward to reading the second book in the Jessie Hunt series.
The other wife is a story of Stella, an average young lady that meets a rich man in Chicago and falls madly in love. After 4 months, Vaughn asks her to marry him and move back to the east coast where his rich family lives. Stella reluctantly gives up her dream job to move with him. As soon as they arrive, the rich family meets Stella and it doesn't go well. They are awful to her and Vaughn turns into a different person under the control of his family. Fast paces as lots happens with the first few days there. Did she make a big mistake? of course she did. things get worse and family and power are against Stella. a quick and fun read. Nothing too serious
the second book called the perfect wife. have read it before. ok as well.
Great bundle for anyone interested in getting into reading psychological thrillers. Both stories are page turners that suck you into the story and trying to figure out who is making all of the trouble. While both books have some things in common, they are very much their own stories with great twists.
Good story lines, got better as I read them. Took a minute for me to get into the reading style and I can't put a finger one why. Nothing in particular, but I feel some chapters didn't feel "finished" before going to the next (in his other wife). I enjoyed the book though and will read the next in the series.
These are a solid 3.5 stars (I wish 1/2 stars were an option). The stories were interesting and the characters were as well. In the 2nd book there were so many editing mistakes that, for me, were distracting. Glaring mistakes, mostly missing words. I’m a volunteer editor to small pieces so if I can spot the errors, their editor certainly should have,
There is no way I would have put up with the bs of that family. I would have left, probably day three. I understand that she needed to stay for the story but that family's treatment of her ticked me off.
I loved this book and was totally hooked from chapter one onward. The only criticism I have is that Detective Bradshaw seems to arrive out of the blue to rescue Stella, and three times he seems to know where she is. I got the audio version of this book and didn't like the narrator's voice; it was worlds away from the character's world and dilemmas.
A lot of twists and turn in this story. Keeps you wondering exactly what will happen and you keep turning the pages so you can find out what will happen in the end. It is a good mystery/ suspense book! I would recommend reading it to everyone who likes mysteries!!
