Howling for More

Rate this book
What happens when the wolf is unleashed?

Bowen’s used to life as a lone wolf. He has the occasional hook-up, but rarely with the same man twice. Chiz is an exception to his rule, and one night’s adventure that neither of them expected forces Bowen to see Chiz as more than just a pretty sub he can scratch his itch for rough sex with.

Chiz has his own rules for getting off with guys. His secret crush on Bowen was supposed to remain just that—a secret—until the one night that changes everything, and hiding things is impossible.

Then there’s Dare, the big tough bar owner who has questions for Bowen and Chiz and whose attraction to them is too strong to resist…and is just as powerful as the feelings Bowen and Chiz have for him.

But giving in to the overpowering sexual pull makes Bowen lose control of his wolf—an act that changes not only his fate but Chiz’s and Dare’s too.

Can their relationship survive what they unleash?

Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of violence and death, references to non-nurturing parenting and a scene of turning into a shifter without prior discussion.

Publisher's note: This book was originally published as Bowen's Battle. It has been revised to become the first in a new shifter series for Pride Publishing.

A few things about me...

I am a married mom of four who spends most of the day writing, either on stories or at the blog. I love to write as much as I love to read. I am generally quiet and laid back, choosing to let things slide off me rather than stick and irritate me.

And it's really hard trying to think of descriptives for myself, so I'll just let y'all e-mail me or comment at the blog if there's something specific you'd like to know, and spare you from reading a boring bio:D

This was a mostly enjoyable read. We start with Bowen and Chiz, these two already have a shared, albeit, transactional, relationship. They basically just meet to hook up occasionally. There’s a fight in a bar bathroom that leads to them meeting Dare. So the stage is set for our three MCs.

I was a little irritated with how easily Chiz gets over the major consent violation of Bowen biting him. I’m not even worried about how a shifter can turn a human with one bite, that’s all up to the author’s world building and they get to make their own rules. However, that was a bit head scratching. No, I was blown away by Bowen just gnawing on Chiz without permission and then Chiz ultimately just shrugging his shoulders about it. There were also some plot holes here and there and how Chiz gained all this shifter knowledge, such as how to shift at all and even partial shift, that was never really explained. Also, all of the conflict with Dare’s family is never resolved and that made me mad. He deserved some closure there.

Still. With all that being said, the story was mostly enjoyable for me. I really liked Dare as this bumbling but sweet guy. He really was just a giant puppy dog. He wanted to be part of Bowen and Chiz so badly and I was so happy he got what he needed. The steamy scenes were extra spicy and so yummy to read. I’d read more from this author in the future, I just wished this one were a little more fleshed out.

Woooooohooooo what a super super hot read
Bowden who is a wolfshifter and Chiz would meet up every now and again to enjoy some downtime. That was until three thugs came into the bathroom of the club and threatened to take them against their Will. Bowden knew that he would protect Chiz with all his might but what surprised him was that Chiz could fight his own battles. As they leave the bathroom leaving the three unconscious they go back to Chiz’s apartment and spend some real quality time together. Then there’s a massive bang against his door and before he knows it there is a huge hunk of a man trying to attack them both. The guys name is Dare and he is the owner of the club and the brother of one of the guys that they left unconscious. The attraction Dare feels for both of these man is instant. But it scares him and he leaves. But when he starts to have visions of these two men he finds him self drawing what he sees in his head. They are the most Erotic pictures he’s ever drawn. And he finds himself sending it to Bowden’s ranch. But then panics and goes to retrieve it. And this is where Bowden finds him, once he sees the drawing Bowden jumps to the conclusion that Dare has been stalking the pair of them.
Just before Dare had arrived it became apparent that whilst Bowden Was in the throes of passion he bit Chiz making him also I wolfshifter. Its all getting very complicated. But what isn’t complicated is the attraction that all three feel for each other. Can They make a go of it together? Will Bowden trust himself not to get lost in the passion again and hurt Chiz or Dare???
I really enjoyed this book I thought the passion that these three have for each other was outstanding and Made for a extremely hot read. I really light the dynamics of this group. My heart went out for Dare who had always been told he was no good by his family. But as soon as Bowden and Chiz spend time with him they quickly helping build insecurities. A really enjoyable read.

Bowen is a wolf shifter who owns a ranch and seems to run it on his own. He has no one he can call special because he does not put himself out there. At least that is what he tells himself when he find has to commit himself after he and his occasional hookup, Chiz, have to fight off some thugs in the restroom of a bar. The outcome of that is something that is going to change their lives and the life of the big and not so tough bar owner Dare. Change is good isn’t it? Maybe if you live to see tomorrow and that is not looking that likely for the three guys thrown together.

Howling for More has some intense and sexy moments that might make you a bit hot under the collar. There is a bit of a dom and sub vibe going on but it is all between consenting adults who are becoming something more than just acquaintances. There are also moments of danger, threat to life and kidnapping as well as a full scale interspecies battle. In addition there is a lot about the consequences of one’s action or inaction and not just relating to the main characters. We get an insight into wolf shifter society and the problems resulting from traditional practices.

This is an interesting mix of storylines with three interesting characters finding what they are looking for in each other even if they did not know they were missing something. Chiz is a survivor who does not leave things to chance. Bowen is a lonely guy who has been left to his own devices and ignorance. Dare is a gentle giant with the family from hell. All he wants to do is draw and avoid violence. That is not going to be an option if he stays with his family. I would have liked for Dare’s ability to dream and draw actual events to be followed up more. Hopefully this is something for a future book in the series. I am assuming the Triple Threat series means there are three threats to the lives of the three main characters. There are definitely threats to their existence. Read it to find out what those are. You’ll enjoy the journey.

Bowen and Chiz are cornered in the washroom at the club and fight their way out.
Bowen and Chiz get together sometimes when they meet and so when they meet at the club they have an encounter in the washroom after enjoying themselves they realize that there are three men between them and the exit who make clear they intend to have some fun with them. Bowen hits the leader and a fight ensues then after flooring them all Bowen and Chiz leave the club and head to Chiz's place. Later there is a loud knocking on the door and Dare asks why his brother was left unconscious on the floor of the restroom.

Howling for More is another excellent mmm paranormal romance by Baily Bradford. I loved it. I loved how different each of the guys' personalities was. Chiz is delicate looking, but he can take care of himself, and he's got a very sassy attitude. Dare is big and gentle but isn't afraid to fight if he needs to. Bowen is a protector and is always trying to protect Chiz, which gets on Chiz's nerves at the beginning of the story before he realizes that he isn't doing it because he thinks Chiz can't protect himself. It's just the way that Bowen is programed. I thought they all meshed together perfectly.

Lots of sex but too many unresolved issues

This is basically a book containing lots of steaming hot sex with a story attached as an afterthought, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Bowen, Chiz and Dare were sweet characters with immense chemistry between them and I was willing them to get their HEA.
The story was okay but there were things that weren't properly addressed, such as no repercussions after Bowen bit Chiz, and Dare's family just completely ignored after being built up as the villains. This could have been a longer story that dealt with all the ignored issues and it would have been much better for it. That said, I did enjoy it but just wanted more all round.

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.25 stars

This book, the first in the Triple Threat series, requires a strong suspension of disbelief. The characters accept things readily and almost instantly, with emotion outweighing intellect. Shifting in this world feels more akin to magic; a bite is an instant ‘conversion’ (to use the book’s phrasing), allowing Dare to go from human to wolf and back in seconds. There is no world building in this book, just a hasty patchwork cover made of various paranormal tropes.

SPOILERS! Loved it. Bowen is raw and earthy. There’s so much about him to like! Watching the relationship between he, Chiz, and Dare was quite satisfying. It seemed very realistic (shifter’s notwithstanding), not over the top the way so books go.
The addition of the local wolf pack, then the coyotes kept things from getting mundane or expected. You really find yourself wanting Dare to be bitten! How that ended up was quite the surprise.
I love shifters, and I read a lot of books about them. This one was different. I really enjoyed it!

I didn’t actually count the pages but I think at least half of this book is frisky times. (Silly company that will sell the book but won’t let me use the s-word in a review) I’m not saying that as a bad thing because they were really fun to read especially with three guys together. All of this hangs on a fairly simple story line that does set up a few things for the following books so maybe things will get a bit more complex.

I enjoyed this entertaining and sexy MMM menage story. I love a good threesome and these three really fit together perfectly. There are some intriguing side characters in other shifters, and I am looking forward to more books in the series. While I liked the story, I did feel like some things weren't tied up very well, like Dare's awful family. It seems like some loose threads were left hanging. Still, plenty of sexy times and, overall, a good read.

I really enjoyed this story. I liked the relationship between Bowen, Chiz, and Dare. Out of all three males, Dare was my favorite character. I liked his personality and was so invested in him finding his happiness- especially escaping his horrible family. But I really liked all three of them and their dynamic together. Good world building. Looking forward to more from this author. 4 stars.

I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind, and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading, I could not put it down until I read the last page.

Chiz, Bowen and Dare. Three men come together and find themselves mixed up in a situation that they don’t know how to get out of. Their shifter universe is unique and interesting and like nothing I’ve ever read about. I found their story fun and full of action with a bit of angst. A sweet/steamy love story between three clueless men.

Clumsy threesome story in a wereverse. There were several smutty scenes, but the repetitively worded character development conversations didn’t actually add any depth to any of the characters. Lots of tell, not show.
