comfortable slaves

Rate this book
This is the subtle truth which most of us avoid confronting! Society is been constructed in such a way to make us slaves one way or the other.

Have you studied a course not knowing the purpose of the course?

Have you realized that you spend way too much time on the phone yet couldn’t control it?

Is debt a part of your life?

You may try to repay but the expense keep growing as your income grows?

Have you purchased things later you have wondered why you purchased in the first place?

This society is been constructed to make us follow a specific pattern which is maintained to be slaves.

It’s been so elegantly constructed that it may oftentimes don’t feel like being slaves. If you realize it and tell it to your peers, they suppress you into making you believe this is reality.

I welcome you to this book with an open mind! At the end of the book, you will not live the same life!

"I didn't know I was a slave until I found out I couldn't do the things I wanted."
-- Frederick Douglass

Short and to the point. As the title of the book suggests, it has been shown who comfortable slaves are, why we tend to be comfortable in those situations, and how we can break the chain.

The book is divided into four parts:
1. Education
2. Career
3. Religion
4. Consumerism

The content is more of a wake-up call. Multiple examples are used that make the content relatable and realistic. There is the use of some very powerful quotes throughout. This book was developed with the sole purpose of assisting readers in bursting their own personal bubbles, realising their potential, and living life on their own terms. The author has done a fantastic job in achieving this goal. I feel the book needs proofreading, but other than that it was a quick and informative read. Can easily be read in one sitting.

You might like to wander through a few artistic journals — they’re full of sparks and surprises.

“Human beings are diverse. Humans have the ability to think, and each one of us is different from one another. But the law of conformity has reached the level where following a group of people is normal and standing apart is abnormal.”
- Manoj Chenthamarakshan, Comfortable Slaves.

I have chosen to highlight this particular quote from the book because of its authenticity. Standing on the present world, these lines are so very authentic.

Comfortable Slaves is a book written by a life coach. A Life coach is a person who guides you towards success and growth. Now the question is, ‘Who are comfortable slaves?’ To that the author says, “Because they are ‘comfortable’ being ‘slaves’, sometimes they forget that they are stuck inside a jail where they drill you and make you do what they think you should do, tirelessly for hours in the day.”

Life is a diverse thing. No one can possibly have the same life like other. You can’t get away by copying, by imitating. “You are not designed to live life like this. Just because your friends and peers live the same life doesn’t mean that you will have to live the same.” Life is a free flowing verse with uniqueness. There is no hard and fast rules to live it. Live like you Dream!

The book is a wonderful collection of thoughts. The author articulated it in an excellent way. I loved reading it thoroughly. The language is very easy to understand and is suitable for all kind of readers. To understand author’s words, one must have a clear mind and perception. That all it takes. It felt as if the author is conversing with me. The problems stated are real life ones and ones that are truly relatable. So does the solution. If you are willing to bring the positive change, it is not that hard to listen.

Within 44 pages, Manoj did an excellent job of teaching. A highly educative read and is definitely recommended. Bdw, Manoj……..WRITE IT!

#bookreview| Comfortable Slaves: Wake up! Once you do, it's hard to go back. | 3☆

Review in association with @kharidobechobooks

"Slavery has ancient roots in history and still exists today in many different forms. Slavery was never abolished, It has only evolved into a new form."

--

Like me, you are also wondering, "Who are comfortable slaves?"

The author, Manoj Chenthamarakshan, has an answer for that;

"The one who knows that they are stuck in life, who doesn't like how things are working out in the workspace yet still hides their emotions and acts as if everything is going well."

In his book, he has dedicated four sections explaining how knowingly or unknowingly we have fallen into this vicious trap of slavery. In such a way, the social system is created that they don't give us much scope to understand this brutal truth.

Well, this book will help you to look into those fine lines. You have missed/ignored to date.

I love how the author has used the four pillars of today's society, education, work, religion, and consumerism, to illustrate his points. However, I didn't come across anything new (except the term 'Comfortable Slave') in the book. There are plenty of books out there which has written the same thing (and might be in a more articulate way!), which disappoints me!

After that impressive title, I was hoping for a little more than this book possessed. Nevertheless, it was a satisfying read. It is well-structured, short, and subtle.

I would wrap up by quoting my favourite line from this book.

"Don't question to oppose but question to understand. It is a common trend to question nowadays just to oppose and spread hatred. Don't fall under the category of hatred, Fall under the category of hunger to understand."

🤳 COMFORTABLE SLAVES - IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP AND LIVE YOUR LIFE🤳
By Manoj Chenthamarakshan

✒️The book is a short, self-conscious and a challenging read but highly recommended if you're interested in why human beings behave the way they don't want to/ have to behave. It's given me so much 'oh snap, so that's why we're so dumb' moments that at this point I don't even want to admit I'm a human to any space-time traveling race that comes in collision of 21st century Earth.

✒️If your objective, like it is when one finishes reading a self-help book, is to implement what Mr. Manoj has to say in real life and benefit from it, I should warn you, you will be sorely disappointed. Believe it or not, in my opinion, I believe Mr. Manoj is telling you exactly that in this book - that whether you like it or not, your entire life is guided or may I say decided by fundamental ideas and that there is very little you can do to change it, period.

✒️To put the icing on the cake he finalizes the book by analyzing how we should appreciate, value and judge the quality of our lives with all these biases combined. And it's amazing how irrational we are in doing so. Not only have I realized from this book that I should stop worrying about societal standards (because they are mostly based on irrational biases) but that I should spend a significant amount of my time and effort into creating a value structure ideally suited for myself. Now, only if I had a bit more memory and cpu speed on System 2...

✒️So, having said that, shelving this book in the self-help section would be gross injustice. In my view this is such a good commentary of human life. The two are different, very much so.

✒️Reading it, totally worth it in my opinion. Can get a little too drab but hang in there, this book is an eye opener.

📚📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚📚
Comfortable Slaves by Manoj Chenthamarakshan @the_moral_science_teacher

The first thing which attracted me the most is the choice of the title.

This is a short and easy read which hits you where it hurts the most. Talks about different areas of our lives where we are Comfortable being Slaves yet we do nothing to change it. We expect greater things in life yet we also like status quo.

The book has been segmented into four dimensions: Education, Career, Religion and Consumerism.

Key takeaways:

✅ Self-awareness is most critical. Unless you do that you’d continue to be a slave without even realising.

✅ The beliefs and biases which we hold on to also contribute to a major extent in us being comfortable slaves.

✅ Many times we don’t even realise and we get trapped into slavery. Eventually some of us even tend to like it but that doesn’t lead us to where we want to go.

“The worst thing about slavery is that the slaves eventually get to like it.” - Aristotle

Things I liked: Nothing is over-stretched in this book. Everything is to-the-point and concise. It makes you ponder and reflect over the decisions that we take in our daily lives.

Could've been better: I didn't get to read anything new which I haven't already read in other self help books. At some points, it felt like I am reading a blog and not a book.

It's a great book for beginners and readers who like short and easy reads.

Comfort Zone

"Comfort Slave" by Manoj Chenthamarakshan is a riveting exploration of the complexities of human relationships and societal expectations. Set against the backdrop of a dystopian future, the narrative unfolds with an intriguing blend of suspense and emotional depth.

Chenthamarakshan masterfully weaves a tale that challenges the boundaries of comfort, forcing readers to confront the consequences of complacency. The protagonist's journey is both harrowing and thought-provoking, offering a stark reflection on the price of convenience in a world dominated by technological advancements.

The author's prose is crisp and evocative, drawing readers into a world where the line between freedom and servitude is blurred. Themes of resilience, sacrifice, and the quest for genuine connection resonate throughout the narrative, making "Comfort Slave" a compelling and timely read.

As the story unfolds, Chenthamarakshan skillfully tackles ethical dilemmas, prompting readers to question their own beliefs and societal norms. The characters are well-developed, each contributing to the rich tapestry of the narrative, and the pacing keeps you engaged from start to finish.

"Comfort Slave" is a thought-provoking exploration of the human condition, serving as a poignant reminder that true fulfillment often lies beyond the confines of comfort. This novel is a must-read for those who appreciate dystopian fiction that challenges the status quo and leaves a lasting impact on the mind.

"Find yourself and be yourself." This was my favourite quote from the book. It was a short read and I completed it in one sitting itself.

Slavery has ancient roots in history and still exists today in many different forms. Slavery was never abolished, it has only evolved into a new form. In our society, we value the gifted individuals that strive for something greater. We all love an inspiring story of a man who made it against all odds and did something extraordinary. Yes, we get spurred in the moment to take action too, thinking ”I want to do that too”. But how many of us actually keep going after the initial months of no results and constant feedback from others saying we made the wrong choice. Sadly, we are not as intelligent and independent as we would like to think we are. Yes we have potential and there’s the few anomalies. However, the majority of us are like sheeps and act according to our herd. This is the reality of our society. We are herd animals. That’s why we are so predictable. Yet many of us are unaware of this. Plugged in the matrix as we call it. Once you see what is really going on, you can never go back.

The language is simple and lucid. Hence, making it beginner-friendly. Therefore, I recommend this self-help book to every reader.

When you find a book which is to the point in it's way of approach...it will always have your heart . The title conveys a plot well. And this book has 4 sections which explains how we are knowingly or unknowingly becoming the comfortable slaves to our work, education, religion and consumerism.

deeply, this book will make you to think about the surroundings we have created for ourselves. And it also make you realise how easily we are becoming so comfortable with our limitations. The way of conveying hard hits through few incidents might be a wake up call for many.
.
.
One short read, might take couple of hours or so. But will indulge you completely in to it. It might break few belives of the narrow minded people .
As said in the book "Consumers got select precisely on what can be part of your your plate" .true and well said, must recommend book to those who wants the walk up call to their comfortable slavery.

-Book review-

The main plot of the book is to tell you that u should not do anything aimlessly for doing it for the sake of it.
The author here is trying to convey that you should try everything and find your own uniqueness.
The feeling that you go through while doing something that you are passionate about is Happiness.
The book states that one should stop being a slave and should work for themselves.
Author mentions social media as a Drug which isn't illegal but still is a drug.
As we can see types of people around some are doing what they always wanted to and some are becoming "Comfortable Slaves" of money, religions, studies etc

Author here tries to reach out to everyone that you should not have' go with the flow'
Kind of nature otherwise you will be a Comfortable Slave soon

The book states that once you start doing what you love then you will see this life with different perspective.

⭐Easy language
⭐Small read with big lesson
⭐Eye opening plot
⭐Can read it in one go

"The worst thing about slavery is that the slaves eventually get to like it."

Comfortable slaves as the name suggests are people who either don't know they are being slaves or pretend to ignore or even enjoy it. Now you may be thinking why would someone enjoy slavery, but there are many types of it that we face daily without even knowing. The book is about the same.

✨“Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But since no one was listening, everything must be said again.”

The basic types of this slavery revolve around ~ Education
~Career
~Religion
~ Consumerism.
This book has been written with a single intention to help people break the bubble they have around them, realize their potential, and live life on their terms and the author has done a great job doing that. The book is a short but impactful read. The examples that the author has given to prove all his points are so relatable. I loved how easy narration and language are used in this book. I thoroughly enjoyed this thought-provoking read and would highly suggest it to all.

Read this book "The Comfortable Slaves by
@the_moral_science_teacher
.
.
This book explains the reality of being a slave after getting independence.
How?
What does the title even mean?
So, the author explains that in between us some are Slaves, slavery is not always working for someone else without your own will.
Slavery can also be if you are confused in your life, you are not able to fix things that are not according to you in your life. We are just pretending that everything is right around us but deep inside we all know we are hiding something.

In his book, he explains the life traps we have been trapped without even knowing. He explains this in different chapters. You will feel motivated after reading and you will understand things you were not looking onto.

Yes, this book is motivational but pinch of difference from other book explaining very important thing that are being ignored.

"Life is teaching us, and we are evolving daily."

Comfortable slaves suggests the people who don't know they are becoming slaves or pretend to ignore the reality.

Becoming slaves to our comfort zone is a big theme of this book. Those who may wonder about becoming slaves should read the book first.

“Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But since no one was listening, everything must be said again.”

The book gives ample suggestions on how we can develop self-realization in education.

The chapter on consumerism is worth reading with interest.
"If the time is right, they won't think twice to let you go."

The book prepares it's readers to take risks and challenges to succeed in life. In corporate world, competition is hectic. We need to grow accordingly.

Overall the book is excellent in giving some vital information on how we can break free from the slavery to comfort zone.

Recommended to all as a short yet effective self help book.

" I still have no clue why I learned (A+B)² = A² + B² + 2Ab. I haven't applied this in real life till now. But during my childhood, Elders told me that if I didn't know this, I was dumb. For several years I believed it to be true. "
Wow it is so true, making me rekindle my childhood memories
This is a short book with 44 pages.
I finished the book in two sittings
As a matter of fact it's not a story book as we usually read in a novel, however it is based on true things which is like facts in our daily life.
Author shares lots of things here like using on social media, we have used to become using social media as an addiction. And lots of great point he made in this book and in a very interesting way not in monotonous type.
Overall i enjoyed the short book.

Introspective and Deep

When I first picked the book, I was quite intrigued by the title and the book was no less. It is about how we human sometimes just indulge ourselves in meaningless endeavours and at times, we feel so at ease that we don't even question the purpose of that particular task in our life.

The best thing about the book was it's to the point approach. It took me about an hour to finish reading it and the lessons to take from the book are amazing. The language of the book is easy to understand and it was a fairly amazing read. I would totally recommend it!!

We live in a society where we face so many problems but we pretend to act like we never noticed anything. We never tend to confront any such things.

We are accustomed to being the slaves of this society, we people just never research or think about why certain things happen in such a way? Why there is a pattern being followed in our society? What is the use of it!? Do we never ask such questions?

If you wanna know why and to find a solution to this tiering pattern, then this book is for you. It's a gem of writing which provoke the readers to act right in situations .

I love those self-help books which is not exaggerated and tell everything in a few words. This book is penned very wisely in a few pages everything is there which can help any individual to realize about their life and mistakes and where they can improve?
Every individual perspective and role is different and the author has written this book by keeping that in his mind while writing the content of this book, which is very thoughtful of him.
Loved the few famous Quotes mentioned in this book to give some punch to the statements by the author, as well as I like all examples given for every kind of situation those things combined made this book easy to understand for any age group.
Harsh words and straightforward sentences are used in this book so do not get hurt while reading because it's just someone's perspective, try to accept that and move on with your life to make it happier for yourself.

A wonderful short and simple read which has the tendency to act as an eye-opener.Let me tell you how, the title 'Comfortable Slaves' itself justifies the content of the book. The term 'slaves' marks its existence since before independence but still the act is being practiced, the only difference is that before people were slaves for others but now they are slaves of their own choices, work prospects or education.
In the urge to be the best and to make the most of yourself people have forgotten to live. Just to make their future more fruitful they are skipping the beauty of enjoying each and every moment which is passing by. The books inspires us to live each moment, add memories, fall, rise and make the most of your life . Remember we only live once so just see we don't regret it .

The novel talks about common problems existing in the world like education system... and links it with various laws wisely know in the self help genre such as Law of Attraction, the Secret, positive thinking, etc..

What I like about was how the author used famous quotes as a means to put forth his point of views on the subject matter to make it easy to understand and at the same time linking them to the existing theories on the self help genre alongside.

The book is short and kind of like a summary of all self help books with quotes and positivity.

This book speaks about being so comfortable in our slavery that we don't realize at times that we are slaves. It talks about corporate culture and why you should break free off that and follow your passion! I loved every pages of it!
I absolutely liked how the author was sharp, to the point and kept his words at the minimum. No BS. Just enough chitchat to provide the point. It was refreshing and fast paced.

As the name suggests represents an emotion of being comfortable (stuck) in place or feeling where there is no more scope of further potential for intellectual or personal development .

The author has divided this book into 4 sections-
1. Education system
2. Work
3. Rituals and religion
4. Consumerism

The Author’s approach to explaining these concepts by using the simplest examples and situations was really nice. The whole message of challenging the norm, finding out who you really are and following your passion really stuck out to me.

“Discipline is essential, but self-realization and self-expression are much more important.”

The author has emphasised this idea multiple times in the book. Instead of being “comfortable “ in being “ slaves” because it is the expected or easy way of living one should strive to make their own unique paths.

The articulation is brilliantly done. The writing style was simple to read and understand. Overall, this was a very educational read for me.
