This is a first for me from Miss Carpenter. Truly one of the best shifter stories I have read. It has romance smeared with drama, an empathetic story with a dash of intrigue and scorching melt your panties scenes that will leave you gasping and spent. The explosive attraction between Hunter and Faith is breathtaking in its uniqueness. So much does this story have to offer that it will leave you cramming for more. Good job to this author who transforms this story into one with so much love.

Faith can’t seem to stay away from Hunter even though he warns her to. When she doesn’t listen, she ends bent over and soundly spanked. What will happen when he discovers that she enjoys what he does to her. Can this shifter keep her safe when danger finds her? Fast-paced, intense and steamy. I really liked it.

Just personal thoughts for me to know in the future why the 1 star
No real connection between them besides sexual. Their relation starts with sexual things and it doesn't progress to more. They develop "instincts" about each other that I guess was meant to make them seem closer, but didn't. He made her submissive to him, just like the wolves and werewolves from his pack were (he said that if she didn't submit to him his pack would feel that she doesn't obey him, so he made her submissive before introducing her to the pack). He told her he's her "leader", just like he is to his pack. He didn't try to know her, her thoughts, and her reasons for her actions, claiming that understanding human women would make him crazy.

Wow, this is a fantastic read! It is well written, well developed, engaging, witty, funny, and consistent with action, suspense, drama, danger, and so much more. There are so many twists and turns, that when I thought the story would go one way it goes another way, thus making it more exciting and engaging. The characters are strong; the chemistry between them is off the charts, instant, and sizzling; their sex scenes are steamy and kindle melting with sparks flying everywhere. I could not stop reading and at the same time, hated when it ended – I wanted more. Definitely recommended!

This is a new author to me, and I really enjoyed this book. If you enjoy hot sexy dominant men and strong independent women then this is your type of book. A lot of steamy scenes in it between the 2 main characters. Action, drama and romance all wrapped up with a sense of humor.

Big bad wolf
I would say it's a little slow, but really it's because there is real plot development so who can I blame. I'm just impatient because I want to get to the steamy stuff. It's there, oh it's there 😏 but alas so is a really good plot. Don't be expecting some stuff and fluff with this book. There is some drama along with the loovve.😜

A good read…
After seeing Hunter, a hunky construction worker at a nearby site, Faith can’t get him out of her mind and ends up making some dubious choices. I enjoyed this read. It may have been a little overlong, perhaps a bit too simplified for the PNR genre, but I really enjoyed the story. Maggie Carpenter is a new to me author, and I'll be looking for other titles of hers soon.

Its just incredibly corny n trite. Like a mills n boon novel mid 1980s.
I love the premis but the fmc is so annoying how she speaks, the dialogue is terrible and I just feel anything from them. No chemistry.
The spanking scene is cringe worthy. Its supposed to be erotic!!!:)

Wolfes, shifters, fated mates and stalkers are all common in books like this. Maggie Carpenter does a great job of making them interesting. I really loved how the heroine wasn’t a wimp. She is a strong intelligent woman and she comes up with a great deal of the ideas that they need to solve things and I liked that the hero, as he gets to know her, trusts her more and talks about how a strong woman is better as a mate even if he will never understand her.

The explosive attraction between Hunter and Faith is almost palpable; its intensity and passion leap like flames off of the pages!! Hunter, a sexy, dominant alpha wolf shifter had come to the city, taking odd construction jobs, in search of his mate. Faith, a publicist for rising actors, sees Hunter on her way to work and finds herself inexplicably attracted to him, trespassing onto his construction site to get closer to him. After being warned away, Faith finds herself seeking him out, eventually receiving the "spanking" he threatened to give her. It is at this point that Hunter concludes Faith is his mate and sets about getting her back to his home; hopefully willing if not, he will take her by "force."

Shifter story, true love and a rogue wolf ……

Faith had watched the man on the construction site he was the most beautiful man she had ever seen and he had stirred something within her and as they had started to get to know each other she realised that her life was changing and there was something very special about this man and it was apparent that they were meant to be with each other.
As they began an uninhibited relationship their lovemaking was truly unbelievable and the connection between them both let him know that they were “Mates” and that she could be happy living with him. Venturing to his home she learned the truth about him, his family and pack, she loved this side of him and knew that having too be away from him for anytime whatsoever would simply break her heart.
There love was one of fairy tales he was her protector, her lover and she was equally invested in their relationship. When it became apparent that there was villain who was stalking women and now has both Hunter and Faith in his crosshairs, it’s essential they stop this maniac from killing them both.
This was a truly wonderful read it was filled with love and romance, shifter command and a very dominant Alpha that would care for her forever…

she was drawn to the sexy construction worker across from her office.
Hunter captured her imagination.He haunted her.He frightened her but her
body tingled with excitement.Her fantasies consumed her.Faith was used to
being in control, and despite Hunter's warnings she continued on her quest
and followed him onto his worksite.Hunter's punishment was harsh.He was
the big bad wolf and Faith was his little red riding hood.Hunter recognized
her as his mate but would she ever be able to accept him for who he really
was.When evil lurked Hunter and his pack went on high alert.
This paranormal book exceeded my expectations.I loved the emotional
connection between Faith and Hunter with all the secondary characters
adding layers of complexity.There were many subtle moments which
captivated the depth of emotions throughout the storyline There was
a high level of drama that kept me fascinated to the very end.

I have always been a big fan of Maggie Carpenter books, but this one (being about shapeshifters) was a real departure for me. This story isn’t just about a shapeshifter, it is a moving story that gives you a solid background/education about the dynamics of a wolf pack that includes but is not exclusive to shapeshifters, it gives you a riveting plot with respect to a rogue shifter who preys on vulnerable young women, and it gives you a truly romantic love story that features plenty of spankings and graphically erotic sexual escapades. Talk about a triple whammy! The hero of the story, Hunter, just may be the absolute definition of an Alpha male. Everything about him shouts out strength, leadership, control, protection, dominance, and any other alpha attribute you can think of, with a generous portion of compassion and gentleness over and above. Faith is a self-sufficient innocent young Publicist who starts the story off by actually stalking Hunter, who she believes is a super hot construction worker at the site across the street! Things quickly change, and one of the best laid out and most enjoyable stories unfolds. Lots of action, lots of love, and lots of hot sex. Don’t delay, get your hands on this today! 5 STARS

OMG! OMG! What an amazing, unputdownable book!
What was Faith Miller thinking? What part of the “NO TRESPASSING” sign didn’t she understand? She was thinking she wanted to meet the construction worker she’d been watching for weeks. Lust replaced reason.
The first time Hunter caught her inside the gated, forbidden construction site, he escorted her out with the threat of serious consequences if she returned. Faith had been watching him from her office window across the street and found him irresistible, handsome and intriguing. He even rode a Harley. Was it him, his threat, or both that made her return?
Faith and Hunter’s story is about boundaries crossed and the consequences of crossing them. It’s about family and friends who live by “the natural order of things” and protect their own. This book offers an abundance of mystery, suspense, naughtiness, discipline, steamy sex and hours of entertainment. It’s extremely well written, as always by this author, and as always, I fell in love with her characters. All except the villain, of course. This shifter romance is in a league of its own. No less than a ten star rating from this reviewer!

More like 2.5 stars.
This book didn't do much for me. I felt no real connection or chemistry between Hunter and Faith. It started out to be interesting, then just fell flat for me. The dialogue seemed stiff and somewhat juvenile.
The story had a number of twists and turns, but they seemed unnecessary and didn't really flow seamlessly together.
For example, Hunter, Faith, and his brother had a close call. They just extracted themselves from a harrowing situation. One that would be shocking for most people. Hunter and his brother need to get back home because of an approaching storm. They will be snowed in for a while. They drop Faith off at her apartment. REALLY???? She has been in danger. Hunter is supposed to live her so much and be her protector, but drops her off at home basically telling her that he would see her when the storm was over and the snow cleared.
That seemed to me to be totally out of character for the way an alpha wolf pack leader would treat his so called mate.
This was not one of my favorite books by this writer, but I would recommend that you read it and judge for yourself. I'm just glad I read it via Kindle Unlimited.

Classic Maggie Carpenter Story
If you are a fan of Maggie Carpenter, you will enjoy this book. Although the story is entertaining, it is not my favorite. Sometimes I feel like I am reading the same story, just with a few details and names changed. She tends to reuse certain phrases and the storylines are similar - an alpha male who likes to spank and a strong, submissive female that is prone to danger and impulsive behaviors. Is there anything wrong with this? No. But it does get boring after so many books. Maybe the author will be inspired to try something new and different.

Wow! Had me on the first page! Faith was an impetuous public relations boss, dominant with men cowering in fear around her. Until she first set eyes on the gorgeous, muscular construction worker (Hunter) across the street from her office. Compelled to meet him, she keeps finding excuses to see him, even though he keeps telling her to stay away from him. Her disobedience earns her a spanking and the two discover a more than sexual connection. When her life is in danger, Hunter steps in as her knight in shining armor. Hot, steamy, emotional - this story has it all. I set everything aside to finish it in one day. Now how and where can we find our very own Hunters?

Faith Miller is a beautiful, independent business woman. She has the strongest attraction to the handsome, burly, motorbike riding construction worker.
All is not as it seems. Faith can’t seem to stay away from Hunter even though he has threatened her on several occasions, not only that some, but a hot Hollywood Star has an attraction to her.
You need to read this book, as it has the spiciest feels along with a mystery and a paranormal twist.
I would definitely recommend this book, it grabs on to you right from word one.

Enjoyed reading Hunter's and Faith story .
Faith was in awe of Hunter , handsome, bad boy on a motorcycle. Faith couldn't get enough of watching for him. When she finally got the nerve to meet him , wasn't what she thought would happen.
Hunter:
“I told you not to come back,” he growled, his free hand groping her breasts, “or did you forget?”
“P-please...”
“I warned you. I told you what would happen if you did. Is this your way of begging for my ???”

Underwhelming
I found myself skipping lines and then more lines. I normally don't write reviews but lately I have been reading more and more sub quality book. I know that for authors laying it all out there and punishing is tough and you can't please everyone all the time but when the bad guy is dead before the middle of the book and at one point mom has to come in and give the big bad wolf a pep talk because his lady got mad come on!!! If you are looking for an plot line that will get you hot and bothered sadly this isn't it.

A good one
A little kinky paranormal with a very sweet romance. Story is well developed, interesting characters, hot dominant alpha shifter, sweet submissive but strong human...HEA. The sexy times include spankings, so accept it before you read and don’t leave bad reviews because it’s there. Having said that, it’s all interwoven as part of the story and not just scene after scene. Its a good book. Enjoy.

I have never really been a big fan of the paranormal genre.....alive read a few I liked, and there’s sure nothing wrong with it...it just doesn’t do it for me...but if I were going to start reading this genre, ROUGH ALPHA is a good place to start.....It’s about some wolf shapeshifters, and, Hunter, who is the pack leader finds Faith, his mate for life...now if he can just convince her...she’s but a mere mortal...♥️🌼🔥
