It has been six months After Cosmic Adventure (ACA), and just when Diana feels like everything is getting back to normal, the new Bearer of the Cosmos and future Empress of the Universe goes missing. Worse, the very people she’d turned down that very position to, want her help. Because Diana is unwilling to get involved a second time and break a litany of promises she made to her friends and family, Dimar goes in her place. When he disappears while searching for the new Bearer, however, Diana realizes she can’t keep her feet on the ground. Once more, she is thrust across the universe, this time in search of Dimar and her replacement. As Diana zigzags across space in search of Dimar, she begins to suspect that the Heart of the Cosmos might still have a plan for her.
K.T. Munson is an independent author. First published at 5 years old in the young writers conference, she has pursued writing ever since. Unfathomable Plan follows Unfathomable Chance (which I read many years ago), with Diana as the strong female character off to another adventure. Like the first book, this one is a light sci-fi read and fast-paced with a touch of romance. Diana refuses to take her position as Bearer, but when Dimar, her Dracoon boyfriend, disappears in his search for the new Bearer, she’s forced to follow his trail of clues. The recap is spread over the chapters, so I had no problem catching up. My favorite characters remain Kal Zed, the grumpy talking cat and Diana’s Guardian, and Grim, the sentient tree who doesn’t speak- don’t we all love Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy? Plenty of action in this book, too. Going from Grier to Rain’den to Vindar and many other places. Many scenes made me chuckle, especially with a babel stone that doesn’t translate so well. How about a wedding ceremony where the bridegroom has to hunt the bride- many guests are killed in the process- space horses/unicorns or a plague virus that makes people moo? If you like some light sci-fi and the movie Jupiter Ascending and can look past a few typos, then you’ll love this book. Recommended. I received a free copy and am leaving a voluntary review.
I love this series! It's a ride, for sure. I felt everything Diana was feeling from her heartbreak, fear, to her anger. I cried with her when her guardian was hurt to every moment she would wonder if her dear Dimar was ok.
The ending! Wow, I wasn't expecting that at all, and ahhh! I have so many emotions. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but I believe this series is only going to get better and better.
K.T. Munson delivers a solid space opera adventure that fans of young adult science fiction will love. This book has everything from a talking Guardian Cat to a space search across the galaxy. There is even some mythology woven into the story. The world-building is literally out of this world, and the author’s ability to create fascinating planets and their inhabitants is impressive. There is an underlying theme of not being afraid to reach for your destiny, or literally reach for the stars. The characters are captivating, and I connected with them easily. I definitely want my own Guardian Cat! The plot is engaging and enjoyable. Get in your spaceship, bring your cat, and start this adventure now!
