It’s Desmond’s last year in high school. After transferring to Ivory High, he’s met his three best friends and boyfriend. Despite the joy and laughter they bring into his life, he fears what the future holds for them. Brothers, friends, lovers, and a whirl of events leave him confused and lost. Even though everyone is constantly changing and growing, he is keen on making sure some things stay the same.
I wasted my time with this book, I would have read only the first one and would be happy in this life, it leaves me on a cliffhanger and the author does not think about making it a trilogy 😡, only damage to baby Desmond, Ivan please get therapy and to Arthur go to hell, ¿why did you show up and ruin everything?, you don't even care about your brother for god’s sake, I don't even know what I expected with this book but it wasn’t this.
The few things I can say for this book, is it is a very fast read, which is great (or maybe it just is because I skimmed a lot of the sex scenes and generally sexual stuff), and I'm surprised by the misunderstanding/miscommunication actually making kind of sense. I actually like this trope when it's done well, which usually means that jealousy can't be a part of it, because refusing to talk to each other just feels so lazy to me, at least give me a reason for the problem, but this book actually did kind of pull it off. I didn't really enjoy it or think it was amazing or anything, but it did feel like there was a reason why nobody talked to one another, and I didn't think that any of the problems could've just been avoided by talking for a few seconds, so this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. That aside: I found it incredibly weird how childish some characters acted, while at the same time sexual content was like ... everywhere, what was up with that? Either behave like 12, or have sex in the book, absolutely not both, that's just not a good combination. Also thought that the age differences should have been discussed at least a little. Somebody not even graduating is dating a police man? What? Absolutely not, or at least make it, like ... a thing in the books? Talk about it? Have somebody mention it, instead of having the problem be the police man's name? The insults absolutely did not fit the themes at all. Not even a little. As somebody who never curses, because it makes me feel uncomfortable: what some of these characters did, absolutely did call for worse curses than "you're a big meanie", which feels very much like kindergarden, which feels absolutely horendous when combined with the sexual content. There were a lot of problems that called for it being an actual discussion in the books, especially the alcoholism or the way people just behaved like the absolute worst human beings but then the only consequences were that their bf wouldn't talk to them for a bit? How comes that people are worried about Desmond being alife for two months, but none of them even think about asking his mom, who's been there the whole time? Like ... come on, it's not that hard! I thought that maybe nobody knew, because nobody ever mentioned recognizing his name from maybe the principle, it was only ever his brother, but no, turns out everyone is aware but just doesn't feel like talking to her. And lastly, my absolutely biggest problem with this book: Ivan is supposed to be an enticing love interest, and sometimes I see a shimmer of hope for him, but also he has absolutely zero idea about consent, and it's not sexy. Which probably makes the fact Desmond broke up with him another good thing of this book, and I guess I was happy that he tried to go through with it, but also the end can be read as another start for them once again, and I really think, nothing has changed. So yeah. Yay for Desmond finally standing up for himself and demanding better, but sadly the rest wasn't there, and I felt like there was a lot of inapropriate stuff age-wise (like even Ivan and the brother, what's their age difference, and if I remember the brother was his babysitter at some point? that doesn't feel right!) and also just in general, so ... I shouldn't have wanted to find closure after the first book. Ending is probably better, but ... not the rest.

It's okeii, but I personally can't with like switching POV's like that, at first I was like it fine I don't mind it that much, but later I just skipped through them only focusing on the main couple. (It didn't make sense to me since in the first book there weren't any other POV's.) And fuck the older brother, I don't know why did the author had to change him. Also I don't know why was there so much drama over kiss on the cheek. After all that said the story it okeii, it would have been so much better if MC's older brother didn't exist in first place.

I believe, sometimes you just have to read something as it is, without judgements, without all the changes we want want in them and without any interruptions. just purely based on how the author wrote it. the ending, yes it wasn't all what we readers wanted but it was beautiful in its own way. things don't always end up the way we want and that's alright.
Gotta first of state that this rating DOES NOT apply to that ending because that was foul. Such a big cliffhanger and insanely anticlimactic!! (Like babe you made me pay this much for thatttt???) And there is not even another book coming out for them. 🥲
I mean it’s obvious that they end up together but I would have loved to have read at least one more convo of theirs.
Now let’s get into the characters: UGH ARTHUR I HATE YOU SO MUCH. I actually can’t even deal with him. (He’s such a problem causer like no one wants you 😩)
We got a spicy scene for Ivan and Desmond and let me just tell you it did NOT disappoint. 🫦 I hoppin and skippin around the room!!!
Ivan is just EVERYTHING.❤️🔥 He’s such a precious, possessive, and hot man and I am fully in love with him. Plus Desmond really brought the sass this book and I was living for it. Like ok king I see you. 👑
I have so many highlights from this book because the quotes were hitting. 😼 (most of them were from Ivan, no surprise there)
The friendship in book one was amazing but it was taken to the next level in this one. I love Charlie, Trevor, and Scott so so much and their group is one I aspire to have. (I NEED THEIR BOOKS ASAP)
I would also like to note that these two books had way less grammatical errors and better structure overall than YOLO (which I still loved) but I can see a really great future for this author and I was happy to see what an improvement she made!!
Honestly, this had a lot more drama than the first book. It's still not good, but I had a good time. It's dumb, it's corny, it's cliché, like almost all of Hidees work. Yet again, a good guilty pleasure for me.
i’m disappointed the second book ending like that, did they have to break up? why didnt ivan say they dated before when desmond asked? honestly im questioning.
first book 4.5/5 Second book 1/5
IDGAF!!! talk to the wall if your mad and say u liked the ending i think it’s absolute shit and rushed af!!
thanks:)
