“Rambo meets Sherlock Homes in the explosive climax to Thomas H. Goodfellow's THE INSURMOUNTABLE EDGE trilogy.” – Rob Errera, IndieReader.com

Overview of Three Book Story

Two children savagely stoned to death in the California desert. Top employees of a U.S. defense contractor dying at an alarming rate. A cryptic message sent by a strange, secretive source warns the contractor’s products have been corrupted and could be used against the U.S. Armed Forces.

They all seem to be connected. But how?

Only two men on earth are capable of putting it all together and those men are Jack Wilder and Jeff Bradshaw, two of the greatest special operations forces soldiers who have ever lived.

There's a problem though. Jack and Jeff are off-duty at Jack’s ranch while Jeff tries to recover from a severe case of post-traumatic stress disorder. Jack's seventeen-year-old ward, a hellcat named Adelaide, is also on the ranch. Nothing seems more impossible than getting the three of them to leave their safe commune. But then, a mysterious blue Maybach shows up at the ranch. The Maybach's visit sends Adelaide, Jack and Jeff off on a dangerous trail of murder and intrigue as they confront the insurmountable edge.

“Author Thomas H. Goodfellow brings the final installment of THE INSURMOUNTABLE EDGE series barreling into the station with General Jack Wilder's offbeat crew in yet another fast, fun read for action thriller fans.” – Rob Errera, IndieReader.com

I’m the author of The Insurmountable Edge, a three-book story that takes readers deep into a world of corruption, covert warfare, and the ruthless edge where politics meets revenge. At its heart are Jack Wilder and Jeff Bradshaw, legendary soldiers forced out of retreat and into a deadly pursuit of truth, joined by Adelaide, a fiercely independent teenager who refuses to be sidelined. Together, they face a shadowy adversary whose reach threatens not just their lives, but the nation itself.

When I’m not writing, I’m usually off the grid. California, Hawaii, Kentucky, and Wyoming are the places I return to—landscapes that shape the grit and atmosphere of my fiction.

The final installment of "The Insurmountable Edge" by Thomas H. Goodfellows is the most compelling book in the three-part installment as you dive into the depths of the devious minds of the villains with whom the steel-edged General Jack Wilder must counter. All the strands of the sub-plots weave together to a heart-wrenching, climatic ending. Jack faces almost impossible odds to counter the insurmountable edge that China threatens to unleash in a war in the Middle East and to seek justice for the brutal deaths of innocent people, including two boys stoned to death. The mission becomes personal for Jack and drives him to rely on his cunning and sheer determination.

After reading all three books, I can say that "The Insurmountable Edge" is one of the best international suspense/thrillers I have read. The author takes the time to develop characters you either love or hate. Unexpected twists keep you reading, and action scenes move forward at lightning speed as the complex plot unfolds. Jack and his sidekicks—his seventeen-year-old hell-bent ward, Adelaide, and his army buddy, Jeff, suffering from PSTD—are relatable characters that I would like to see again in future books. The effect from PSTD is a particularly fascinating element to the story. The crisp dialogue, action scenes, and vivid descriptions play out like a movie in my head.

I highly recommend the three-installment international thriller, "The Insurmountable Edge," which spins a complex plot of intrigue and suspense with well-defined, relatable characters, similar to Lee Childs' Jack Reacher series.

scary violent

I hope I never read a book this violent again. It was written incredibly well, but as a human being, it was too much.
By the way, are all the women in California incredibly beautiful with fine knees?

Perfect ending

Great trilogy. Characters very well developed.
Plot excellent and believable. Scenes vivid and realistic.
And best of all, the ending was perfect; best ever for me.

Insurmountable edge

I really enjoyed the books although the way that 17 year old girl spoke with such disrespect for her elders and Generals of the US Army was beyond how any 17 year olds should speak. I wouldn't want anyone with such disrespect and disregard for others and rules in the arm forces. She is a rotten brat that needs to be taken down a few notches. I can not see any adults let alone Generals of the United State putting up with such disrespect and disregard. Offer than her I really enjoyed the books. The 3 star rating is due to how her character was written. She needed a good slap up side the head.

As a series whole, I found this addition to the political thriller genre to be a gem. Just the right amount of conspiracy, plot diversions, and most importantly - humor. The nature of these books circle around a terrible crime that is inter-woven throughout all three books, so it was a good choice to sprinkle in some deadpan wittiness to carry the story along.

The writer, Goodfellow, is a welcome addition to my repertoire of favorite authors (Patterson, Baldacci, Connelly) and The Insurmountable Edge - A Story in Three Books was a respectable read.

I love trilogies. This is my first “military” read. I enjoyed the character development and the relationship between main officers. I did get frustrated with the descriptive narratives that seemed to go on so long I forgot where I was in the plot. I could see this book as a mini-series or movie with Kevin Bacon as General Jack Wilder, Samuel Jackson as General Jeff Bradshaw & Claire Danes as Adelaide.

I felt the first and second installments of this book were better than the third. The third installment drifted off and lost the characters. The authors brought the plot line around in the end, but gave up on the characters. I’m not sure why the 17 year old girl was in the story. I thought the quips and sarcasm by the characters was distracting instead of entertaining. All that being said, the author has potential if he focuses on his characters.

Needs better editing

Three things were hard for to get through. Any one with a little education should know it's Vietnam Not Viet Nam.
What happened to "us" and "we"? I got really tired of " Ade!aide, Jeff and I " over and over and over. At least the Vietnam part was mostly in the beginning.
The third book was too long. Everything could have said in two books.

just long enough

The encounters were just random enough and numerous enough to keep the suspense going throughout the books. The deductions made were intelligent and cogent throughout. I guess I t’s more because my age that I was just a little sensitive to the brutality of the final killing scene but “Soleimani‘s” execution was perfect

I enjoyed book one and two more. There was more technical information about the military, computer codes and computer programers. That information went over my head and slowed the reading down. I still rate the book a five star review. The plot, storyline, characters and writing is all excellent!

This is one of the best detective series I have ever read. The characters continued on their heroic, if somewhat off kilter ways, and came through in miraculous fashion. Reading all three books has been a joy and I look forward to whatever Mr. Goodfellow writes next. Highly recommended.

This series will mess with your expectations—in the best way. Just when you think you know the main character, the ending hits with brutal, unforgettable vengeance. With fierce women like Adelaide and Kate leading the charge, it’s smart, sharp, and impossible to put down.

I really enjoyed this series and hope to have more about the fearless Jack Wilder and crew! Could also see a spin-off for Adelaide's character.
