A short horror story by the multi-award-winning author of STAGE 3, Gaia's Game and Arcadia Falls.
Hal Mitchell is living a nightmare. Trapped in a body he can no longer control, his entire world has shrunk to a microcosm.
Unable to turn his head, he sees only what is directly before him. He hears others talking, but cannot utter a word. His mind is fully active, but its only use now is as a means of escaping to imaginary worlds for a few precious moments, before the pain ravaging his useless body brings him back.
It's as if he has become his own coffin, and he has been buried alive.
As he longs for a death that could never come quickly enough, he must suffer through every horrible minute of his torment alone.
Utterly, desperately alone.
But tonight, Hal Mitchell might not be quite so alone as he thought. Maybe the nightmare is just beginning.

"If I can move a reader, I am honoured. If those words I string together resonate with the reader in some way, I am thrilled. But if one reader out of a thousand experiences an actual nightmare because of what I wrote, then I will know that I've done my job right, and you may consider me ecstatic."
As I finish reading this short story, the reality is that I'm caring for my bedridden mother, who has not been the same since a brain aneurysm and two strokes a year and half ago. We aren't sure if the strokes or some of the medication she is on has caused her to have hallucinations and nightmares, but they are real to her.
Then it struck me. What if her world now is like the storyline of this book! A truly terrifying thought!
I know this book will stick with me for quite some time, but I have a feeling it will have the same affect on everyone who reads it!
If you love horror with just enough temerity to ring true...this story is for you!
