A load of farfetched bullshit
The premise of this book is that one man, Xi Jinping, is responsible for concocting the Covid-19 pandemic as a way of forcing totalitarian practices on western democracies aided by a multi-year programme to “buy” all the worlds leading politicians, academics, public health officials and tech entrepreneurs supported by social-media based propoganda. He claims this is a new form of warfare to replace tanks and guns .. a form of psychological cyber warfare to influence minds rather than destroy software and equipment. He does not address two critical questions: 1. How has Xi done this without there being more dissenting voices? 2. What’s in it for those that have fallen into line behind the lie? Whilst there are certainly some elements of truth - in China’s use of social media propaganda and its financial “support” of “influential” people and institutions - I find it completely unbelievable that so many influential right thinking people around the world can be brought into line without any, any, whistle blowers. And that they all, all, can be given incentives persuasive enough for them all, all, to toe the party message. In short .. “interesting” but stupid.

I don't know.
It's definitely persuasive. Almost half of the book is references. It's well argued. My gut was with the author until the final summary.
It left me wondering the motives behind the CCPs' actions. Sure power and influence, but to what end?
The book explains why the response to COVID has been so irrational. It provides a massive amount of information here. It has finally got me off of facebook and instagram as well. I would definitely read it to make sense of the past couple years.

As I write this review, I reflect on the last three years and what it has done to my psyche. Receiving coordinated input about the pandemic over this chunk of time left me seeking an isolated life. I hope I can overcome those urges I still have and I think this book has helped stop that slightly manic feedback loop because it shines a light on truth. I am grateful for the recommendation given to me by a doctor’s wife. It may be the best prescription I have ever filled. The book traces the decisions that were made in late 2019 and early 2020 by a totalitarian government’s abuse of media, utilization of the WHO and relationships built over many years with many countries leading to a non-sensical plan. Since I have seen no accountability for the actions that politicians, judges, journalists, doctors and scientists took, it seems I need to heal through books like this. I appreciate this author that has taken what I witnessed and zooms out to create the picture puzzle and then fits all the puzzle pieces back into place.

I was quite willing to chalk this up to plain fear and incompetence on the part of most officials. To worried about conformity and opinion polls than about actual sound good governance in the face of a supposedly deadly pandemic. Heck even once it was pretty clear that most measures weren't working, the actions of officials (elected or not) to double down and continue the farce rather than admit they were wrong was an understandable human failing.
To pin this all on the CCP, or more correctly to the soft power politics that the CCP engages in... yeah I can see how it would have an influence. Particularly in my country where my own PM has stated publicly he admires the CCP.
You don't have to agree with the thesis or conclusions, but you should read this to see how colossally bad our response to COVID was. All because we played copy cat to a regime that wasn't actually succeeding at stopping the spread anyway, but how would we know since that regime is very good at propaganda, disinformation, etc. No need to jump on "Xi is evil" to swallow this line of thinking. Just herd mentality, scared opportunistic politicians, incompetent health officials, and the conformity of the mainstream population.

The rubbish and lies that we have been fed in the course of this so called Pandemic, is outlined.
Forged data, forged and botched up (not-)facts that were told to the general population about the virus & its ability to spread, have been outlined in the book. I have personally never believed in the logic behind Lockdowns that we all experienced & this book addresses just that. & also, how all this was fabricated to make the general population believe, that it was for their own good. When in fact it harmed every country across the world.
The phases of lockdowns starting March 2020, will go in history as one of the BIGGEST staged lies that people were told & forced to believe in to curtail a "not so deadly" virus.

This should be required reading. whether you agree with the author's premise and conclusions, we all should agree that Xi is a terrible person and a ruthless dictator, and also that covid lockdowns, vaccines, masks, and all the general fear mongering was based on nonsense.
Senger makes a well reasoned, well supported, and well argued case. while it's likely that some of his conclusions will turn out to be inaccurate or even completely wrong, one would be hard pressed right now to pick out which ones. they all hold up.

Interesting, but falls short at the end
I found this book to be quite convincing when it comes to the story of how the world was sold on lockdowns, in part, by an organized Chinese propaganda campaign, but I found it less convincing when it moved on to quickly dismiss the lab leak theory of the origins of the virus. While the lab leak origin remains unproven, the claims about the virus being in circulation for more than a year are offered with minimal support.

Rokoteseteistä tuli ikään kuin joukkopsykoosiin joutuneille ihmisille tyrkytettyjä kissanleluja, joita tavoiteltiin ansaitsemalla parempaa elämää, vapautuksia rajoituksista ja turvaa vakavalta tautimuodolta, kunhan ottaa kaikki itselle tyrkytetyt pistokset ajallaan ja noudattaa pilkuntarkasti viranomaisohjeita. Toisin kuitenkin kävi, ja luvattu laumasuojakin jäi saavuttamatta, vaikka ennustemallien mukaan tartuntakurvien tasoittamiseen osallistumisen jälkeen piti saada immuniteetti, mutta variantit sen kuin lisääntyivät.
Normaali toimintamalli oli sellainen, että oikeuslaitos alistettiin poliitikoille terveysviranomaisten tapaan, ja ylikansallisesti myös WHO:n liekaan ja suosituksiin, ja lopulta Kiinaan ja CCP:n ytimeen. Puhuttiin uudesta normaalista, ja valmisteltiin ihmisiä siihen, että kuka tahansa voi olla vihollinen (siis koronan levittäjä). Pahimpia olivat tietysti roketedenialistit. Maalattiin uhkakuvia kollektiivisesti, että kyseessä oli todellinen supervirus, ja sen tukahduttamiseksi ihmisoikeudet ovat dumpattavissa pysyvästi. This short, solid, compellingly written book has upended much of what I thought I knew about Covid (and not to boast, but I know quite a bit).
The phrase "must read" gets used a lot, but this book really must be read, if we, individually and as a society, are to have any hope of breaking free of the dark, bizarre spell that has been cast over us these last three years.
I've known since April or May of 2020 that something weird was going on that was about more than just a virus. Too many things just didn't add up. I eventually came to see that we were victims of what Maajid Nawaz calls a "military-grade psy-op."
What I didn't realize until reading this book was the ultimate source of the psy-op: Xi Jinping. Indeed, Xi has pulled off the greatest psy-op in all of human history. Hitler's man Goebbels was a master propagandist, but he only managed to brainwash a nation, not the entire world. Xi is not only a propagandist but a long-term-thinking strategist.
Xi, enabled by the science, media, corporate, academic, and government entities around the world that are controlled or compromised by him, inflicted poverty, starvation, social breakdown, mental torment, and physical and psychological abuse on billions of human beings. Especially children -- which only makes Xi's cruelty all the more horrifying.
Lockdowns, masks, school closures, distancing, and long-term social isolation were never justified by science. In fact, the actual science over many decades had already shown these measures to be not only unhelpful, but harmful. Nevertheless, these measures were imposed, because our authorities, against all history and common sense, chose to simply trust that we were getting truthful information from a totalitarian dictatorship. As Senger shows in this book, every facet of our Covid policies was based on lies. And all the lies trace back to what China was telling us in the early months of 2020. For no good reason, we simply took China's word at face value.
Media companies, universities, Big Tech, and politicians -- all with massive ties to China, what a coincidence -- were only too eager to repeat unquestioningly the narrative that China spun. And it was a narrative designed with one purpose: to not only increase China's economic and political power at the expense of the rest of the world, but to actually transform the rest of the world into China writ large: an authoritarian society, with total surveillance and zero freedom, in which every human being is digitally and biometrically tracked and traced, human rights are a thing of the past, and the very concept of the dignity of the individual is erased.
This book is short -- only 152 pages of text. They just may be the most important 152 pages you read this year.

Totalitarianism is no cure
The actual problem with this coronavirus is not its origin, but the totalitarian policies which have been used in much of the world to try, unsuccessfully, to eliminate it, leading to economic destruction, starvation in some places, educational setbacks, and increases in other illnesses, including mental illness.

This was an okay book.
I found mostly the parts about the pandemic not too interesting.
I did, though, find the upbringing of Xi was really interesting (first half of the book).
The first half of the book was way better.

I have read over half the book and it is so full of selective references I could not read any more. Some of the narrative was just as biased as the very nation he was criticising. He needs to understand more about viruses, diagnostics and treatment.

Unfortunately, Senger makes a strong, clear case that China's dictator is the main culprit behind the outbreak of Covid and the subsequent lockdowns around the world. However, Some of his sub-arguments need more support, such as his claim that the virus wasn't dangerous. Overall, it's a very good book about one of the most important issues in the world.
