THEY NEVER KNEW THE MATERNITY WARD COULD BE SO DEADLY.

Nurse Samantha Knowles thought she was starting a new chapter in her life when she accepted a job at a prestigious birthing center. Instead, she found herself in the middle of a nightmare. Things take a dark turn when pregnant women start dying under mysterious circumstances. And all fingers point straight at Samantha.

When FBI Inspector Richard Douglas and Special Agent Mac Jones become involved, time is running out for Samantha to save her life and reputation. But with evidence continuing to stack up against her, it’s clear someone is working behind the scenes to ensure Samantha stays in the hot seat.

This twisted page-turner will keep you guessing who the actual killer is. Will Samantha clear her name before it’s too late? Or will she become the next victim in a madman’s deadly game?

Increased Mortality

By D.K. Greene

The second book in the Killers Club will not disappoint!

Sam is the newest nurse at St. Christopher’s and luckily she has been able to keep her past a secret, for now! She is a hard worker though, and she is out to show everyone, and herself, that she is strong and able to be a great nurse. When single mother’s on her floor start dying shortly after giving birth all signs point to Sam’s negligence and eventually she is charged for the murders. Along with this horrible turn, her past is being revealed and her past drug problems seem to be creeping back on her. She swears she’s been clean but when the police find a stash of prescription drugs from her patients in her home, there is no denying Sam has a problem.

One of the aspects that stands out for me is how Greene has tied this story to the Killers Club Book One, Where Bodies Lie. Although this connection is made, both books can be read as stand-alone novels with a great plot line. There were a few aspects I wish Greene had delved deeper into but overall this was a great book. I look forward to Book Three which is coming soon!

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for its storyline and fast pace. The characters are believable as are the situations and the connection between the two stories is flawless.

This book started right off exciting! A nurse is killing some of their patients and feels they are close to being caught so moves to a different hospital. Then it switches to Samantha who has just moved to a new city and new hospital and is a maternity nurse. After delivery, several new moms start dying. Police investigate because the number of deaths is just too high. Is Sam being set up? Is she the nurse at the beginning of the book and doing the killing? There is so much to the story to keep you guessing but I don't like spoilers so I will just say it is a good book. I figure out part of what was going on but will the detectives? I didn't read the first book so I'm not sure if any of these characters were in #1 but there is a small shocker at the end of the book that makes me wonder if it will be a part of #3. I'm planning on going back and reading the first in the series.

Samantha is a Maternity Nurse starting a new job at the new St. Christopher Medical Center in a small town. The Head Nurse is a domineering and bossy woman whom the nurses call the pelican, due to her propensity to swoop in and cause havoc! But for some reason the mortality rates for birthing moms is quite higher than normal. This was a riveting story where Samantha, a very likable character, seems to be getting set up as an Angel of Death. Exciting from start to finish as FBI agents start tracking the deaths. Being a nurse, I found this book chilling, to think that a nurse would do this and be getting away with it. I received a free ARC of this book and write this review voluntarily.

Increased Mortality - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

A killer nurse is everyone's nightmare, particularly relevant in current times with the recent conviction of Lucy Letby, a shocking case of life imitating art, albeit tangentially.
DK Greene's riveting drama centres on Nurse Samantha Knowles as she begins her job on a maternity ward, where Senior Nurse Thomas is a 'dragon'. As more births at the hospital lead to increased fatalities, Sam becomes a pawn in someone's evil game of death.
Can profiler Special Agent Mac Jones and Inspector Richard Douglas find evidence to exonerate Sam and stop the real killer before anyone else succumbs?
You'll never believe where the trail leads until you read DK Greene's thrilling denouement in Increased Mortality...get it today!

I have just finished devouring my BETA copy of "Increased Mortality ' WOW. I read it in 2 sittings, would of been 1 but I needed to sleep.  😴

Denise it is an amazing book. The depth of both, the characters and narrative, mixed with the knowledgeable medical details, make it a compulsive read. It flows seamlessly from one chapter to the other like a stream leading to a babbling brook. The slight twists and turns leave you re-evaluating your suspect. At one point I thought it was Samantha in the depths of a psychotic brake.

And the ending definitely makes me want more.
Very highly recommended.

After the first few pages, I knew this was a book I wasn’t going to be able to put down, until I got to The End. Compulsive and gripping! Suspenseful, addictive and complex! Will keep you swiping the pages furiously. If you like absolutely unpredictable, twisted suspense as much as I do, you can't go wrong with this book!

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

3.5 stars. It was enjoyable enough but it took too long for Samantha to realise who the killer was. So many clues just ignored.
