Christmas is coming but she's not going anywhere. Snowed in with a hunky movie star is anything but a gift for Audrey Stratton and a holiday romance is the last thing she's looking for. Will the warmth of Christmas be enough to melt this stubborn cowgirl's heart and give her everything she never knew she wanted?
This was such a fun book to read. Audrey works on her parent's ranch in Utah and she also does roping at rodeos. Danger is an actor who happens to be on the Stratton family ranch shooting a movie right before Christmas. I liked how Audrey had a stubborn streak and was not going to fall for the sexy actor. Too bad for her that Danger has already entered her life and finds himself falling for her after he convinced Audrey to give him riding lessons. She doesn't know he is already an accomplished rider. It was interesting watching Danger interact with her dad and I enjoyed all of the Christmas activities and snowstorms too. I received an advance copy of this cute story and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
Audrey's family ranch was being used to film a movie. The star Danger Mason wanted Audrey to teach him to ride. This is such a sweet book. Loved the characters of Audrey and Danger. Audrey's parents were big fans of Danger's. The book is one of the Snowed In series. It can be read in an afternoon. Love nice clean romances, and this is one of the best.
I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a fun book! Danger was a movie star, on location in Utah filming a movie. Audrey was a farm girl working on the family farm. She is annoyed that they are filming at her farm and can't wait till they finish and pack up. The star of the movie asks Audrey for riding lessons and they begin to spend more and more time together. They begin to build a relationship, friendship and more is involved. After Audrey discovers Danger had lied to her she feels hurt and excuses Danger from her life. To keep the peace Danger reluctantly follows her request. After begin apart for some time they realize that what they had was love and they try to reconcile and be united again. I was given an ARC for this novel, this review was left voluntarily. All opinos expressed in review are my own.
Cute Premise! Audrey is such a go-getter on her family ranch and in her personal life. She's an up and coming roping champion. She trains her horses and teaches horseback riding. And she's a big part of her family ranch, being an only child. Such an interesting situation finding the ranch as the location of a film set - with all of its comings and goings. Enter Danger Mason - he's attracted to Audrey for some reason even he doesn't know, and she wants nothing to do with him or his movie. What a wild ride - almost like Audrey's roping! Great characters (her parents and the townspeople are wonderful) and an interesting story line.
I think Erica Penrod is a talented writer. Not only did I like Audrey's spunky, go-getter, and animal-loving character and relate to a description given of how she never stopped worrying even as she changed in other ways since she was a baby, but I liked...
- The snowy rural Utah setting
- The minor character Miss Rhonda (she's got a fun personality, too!)
- The side theme of family
- The mention of not ever becoming complacent in one's passion and profession and yet using adrenaline to keep yourself confident in it
- The humour in places like Audrey's conversation with her mom about her relationship with Danger in Chapter 19, when she loses to Danger in Yahtzee and is annoyed because she has a guilty crush on him, and when she's a grown daughter leading a celebrity into the house while still in her pajamas
- The figurative language --- some of my favorites were: "Audrey's body was like a headstrong filly." "She could take a dive off those cheekbones and land in the pool of his smile --- drowning." "The snow continued to fall like Jack Frost had returned from sabbatical." "....The thought of kissing Aubrey hovered over his head like mistletoe." Using "domino" as a verb, and appropriately horsey metaphors like Aubrey "[corralling] her thoughts"
I am interested in reading more from Penrod someday and hope for the best in the success of her work! Overall, if you like books like The Timeless Romance Anthologies or Love Unscripted by Tiffany Odekirk, I think there is a chance you will like this book, too.
Oh I’m just feeling all of the tingles! This is such a clean feel good romance! Audrey is the daughter of a rancher in Utah, and her precious ranch is the set for a movie. Danger Mason is the star of the film and feels undeniably attracted to the rancher’s daughter, but he can’t tell if he feels drawn to her because she doesn’t want to have anything to do with him or if he just likes her. They are from two entirely different worlds and sometimes attraction isn’t enough to bridge such large gaps. Audrey is shocked when her parents invite the movie star to Thanksgiving dinner. She can’t help but think Danger is handsome, but having him around is only getting in her way. She has ambitions and dreams of her own. This is such a sweet story and close to home (geographically not metaphorically). I love this wintry holiday romance. It just left me with a smile on my face and warmth in my soul.
Audrey was not happy that her family ranch had become a movie set for the latest “Danger” Mason blockbuster. But her parents reminded her that she was born a worrier and that there was nothing to be concerned about. Nothing at all until her folks invited Danger to join them for dinner and the sparks of attraction began to fly. I would have liked a little more background about the characters—like how Danger got his nickname or more about why Audrey and her ex broke up. But overall it was an enjoyable, fun read with lots of romantic kisses and I am happy to recommend it. I received an ARC and this voluntary review contains my honest opinions.
This Snowed in for Christmas book is a fast-paced sweet romance. The relationship develops quickly and we don't get to see much of that development. We do get to see the characters personalities shine- the goodness of a man nicknamed Danger while still being a great movie star and the strong-willed side of Audrey Stratton. From Thanksgiving to Christmas- and a side of the being stuck for the night- it is fun to see how quickly people can find their love.
Cute book. Audrey wasn't happy to have a movie set on her parents' ranch, so she planned to keep an eye on things - from a distance. Danger, the male lead, had other plans. He found her attractive and intriguing. I gave this a 4 star because I had a hard time liking Audrey until toward the end of the story.
Audrey and Danger are a wonderful pair. Danger is starring in a movie which is set on a ranch. The movie set is located on Audrey’s parents ranch. Danger is intrigued by the ranchers daughter so he has asked her to give him riding lessons to get to know her. Would it be possible for the movie star to fall for the rancher’s daughter?
I enjoyed this book a lot and it was fun to read about Danger's cousins again. Its always fun to remember the individual stories about those people who you read about long time ago and how just reading the names remind you of the story you so enjoyed before. Fun reading.
A movie star -- and they are using a ranch for their set. And his co-star wants to be more, But he has no desire to be more. Now the daughter if the owners -- he'd like get to know her better . . . .this a terrific love story that I enjoyed immensely.
Can a ranch girl stole a movie star’s heart? Audrey and Danger are mean to be together. Now only they need to convince themselves. A snowstorm will bring. Them together. Sweet.
