An Amazon exclusive! In this romantic comedy mystery, a young woman discovers that life is like an elevator--just be sure to get off on the right floor.
Hello. My name is Virginia, although I live in Georgia… Atlanta, to be precise. Two years ago I happily clutched my degree in Hospitality Management, smug with the knowledge that I would always have job security because no matter what, people would always travel, right? And then the pandemic happened. It’s hard to complain about losing my job in the midst of so much tragedy, but it came on the heels of a bad breakup, and being partially abandoned by my nomad parents. I was shook.
Thank goodness the economy is starting to reopen, but because so many hotels have closed permanently, there are three people for every hospitality job available, and I don’t have enough seniority to even warrant an interview. So when I heard of an opening at a historic hotel in Midtown that’s allegedly haunted, I showed up in person to beg for the job. I naively told the eccentric owner I’d do anything… and that’s how I wound up being an Elevator Girl.
What’s an Elevator Girl? Stay tuned, friends, for the story. There are ghosts, an unsolved murder, and some of the most oddball guests imaginable. Oh, and the mind-bending secret I stumbled upon in the basement. In between I spend a LOT of time riding up and down, wondering where my life went wrong and how I can get off this ride. _________________________
USA TODAY bestselling author Stephanie Bond was seven years deep into a systems engineering career and pursuing an MBA at night when an instructor remarked that she had a flair for writing and suggested that she submit to academic journals. But Stephanie, a voracious reader, was only interested in writing fiction–more specifically, romantic fiction.
Upon completing her master’s degree and with no formal training in writing (her undergraduate degree is in computer programming), she started writing a romance novel in her spare time. Two years later in 1995 she sold her first manuscript, a romantic comedy, to Harlequin Books.
In 1997, with ten sales under her belt to two publishers, Stephanie left her corporate job to write women’s romantic fiction full-time. In 2011,
Stephanie launched a self-publishing business. Since that time, she has sold more than 1 million copies of her own books. To-date, Stephanie has published over 70 novels and has over 6 million copies of her work in worldwide distribution in numerous languages and formats.
Ms.Bond has done it once again. This was a fast paced time traveling murder mystery. I looked forward to the next installment at the beginning of each month.
This was a truly enjoyable six-part story. Broken apart in daily “diaries”, this book was filled with nostalgia, friends, family, and love over a 50-year span.
This is part 6 of 6 part daily serial, part six is month of December. It’s the final part.
Loving the concept of this daily serial, “What's an Elevator Girl? Stay tuned, friends, for the story. There are ghosts, an unsolved murder, and some of the most oddball guests imaginable. Oh, and the mind-bending secret I stumbled upon in the basement. In between I spend a LOT of time riding up and down, wondering where my life went wrong and how I can get off this ride.”
What a great ending this has been for the series, loved every minute of it. Super enjoyable and entertaining with every turn of the page. I liked how everything was bought to the close and how Virginia got her happy ending and that all was well with the hotel, in that it got saved. I’ve enjoyed joining Virginia on her journey, and what a journey it has been.
This is the last book in the series. Virginia finds the murderer but things don't go well for her. Otis helps her and the author that she's been helping is very appreciative for the help she's given him on the book he has been writing.
However her mother, who is usually very healthy, is now in the hospital and her father is very concerned about her. Virginia has her own health problem and she figures out what the cause is.
Then there are decisions people make including whether or not to go back to the past and remain there or to stay in the present and find another job when the hotel is torn down.
So she decides whether she will go into the past also and stay there or if she will stay in her present. There's a surprise ending.
I really enjoyed this series. All the characters are done very well, the things that are happening make sense and the ending is great.
Elevator Girl is a 6 month daily serial taking place from July to December. The book is broken down into daily segments. It is a fun way to experience a book. The characters are likable and the story is interesting. Virginia was looking for a job and ended up at the Coronada Hotel, a 1970's era hotel with financial problems. Virginia is an Elevator Girl and runs the elevator for guests. She accidentily finds a time portal but it effects her health. The hotel is scheduled to close at the end of the year. Virginia hears about Eloise who was an Elevator Girl in the 1970's until she was murdered. Virginia sees her and wants to help solve the murder. It is a great book- enjoyable and fun.
I enjoyed all 6 parts of the story. I enjoyed the setting, both in Atlanta, and the Coronado hotel. The characters were well written and were people that I wished I knew in real life as they seemed quite down-to-earth.
I loved the concept of time travel and using the elevator as the portal, very different than anything I have read. It also had a bit of a "Back to the Future" vibe with how the events happening in the past affected Virginia and her family members in the present. I enjoyed this series so much I couldn't stop reading once I started. I have loved all of Stephanie's books and loved seeing Detective Terry in this series after reading the "Bodies" series with Carlotta. Can't wait to see what is next!!
So so so gooood! This 6 parter has kept me coming through each word from the very first part. From the very beginning I was hooked. It is unlike any other book I’ve read and is even a bit hard to sum up what it’s about without giving away its secrets.
I love the way Bond ended this. I had read the first 4 parts a year ago and regrettably set the story down because the last 2 books hadn’t been released yet. Grrr. I then became involved in other series and temporarily forgot about the elevator story. I was looking at other books when Stephanie Bond was a suggested read. I then got excited because the story came back to my mind and how I didn’t know how it ended! Bond definitely gave Coronado the justice it deserved. Read it.
After losing her job, Virginia accepts one as an elevator girl in a retro hotel where a previous elevator girl was murdered fifty years ago. She begins seeing a ghost of this girl and eventually finds a way to transport back to 1971 by using a freight elevator. As you might expect, Virginia discovers who actually murdered her.
I'm not really into time travel. If it is possible, what effect would it have on the future? I kept expecting something to explain a different scenario, but not so.
I do appreciate Ms. Bond making this available on the Internet as a free serial, but other books she has written such as Coma Girl were more enjoyable to me. Six books comprise the total story.
WONDERFULLY WRITTEN AND WILL KEEP YOU ON YOUR TOES
So you think you’re really good as a mystery book sleuth? I’m willing to bet you don’t see what’s coming next. This series, my first introduction to the author, kept me riveted and taught me a lesson! As a former investigator, my skill set did nothing in helping me deduct - who did it!Stayed up through the night until I finished this six book novella series. Kudos to Stephanie Bond.
Part Six of Elevator was wonderfully written. Excellent storyline which brought the lives of the characters I've grow to love over this past six months to a wonderful close. Thank you Stephanie Bond for another wonderful serial, I can't wait to see what's coming for July 2022. I highly recommend this serial.
Yay! A great ending for this 6 part series! I was really wondering how the author would have her choose her love interest and I think it played out really well. The killer was not who I was expecting either. Everything tied up in a nice little bow and I can't wait to read the next series by this author!
I love time travel stories and elevators freak me out, so this story hit a lot of buttons for me. But I’m generally not a fan of endings where characters do something wildly OUT of character, just for the sake of a twist. There were plenty of genuine OMG moments that I felt the final one was unnecessary. But overall, a fun, fast read.
Love reading these novellas. Just cant wait for the next part to come out. Keep writing your new storyline. You always keep me guessing what the character is going to do.
I liked this a lot until the last book. I still liked it but I thought the ending and the way things wrapped up seemed a little forced. Still a good overall, entertaining read though.
An entertaining read! I really enjoyed it. I've been reading each part as they come out. It's hardly fair to wait a while month for the next installment! I really enjoyed the whole story. It has everything...drama, romance, a little science fiction, a murder and even the pandemic!
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I could hardly wait to read more. But as I got to the end, I stalled and only read a little at a time. I did NOT want it to end.
Loved this series! Was so fun to read that I couldn't wait for the next book to come out. Stephanie Bond is one of my favourite authors. Have enjoyed every one of her books....and I have read a lot of them! Keep them coming!!!
The whole series was spectacular!!!! From the very first book I was totally intrigued and had to continue reading!!!! Stephanie Bond is an Extraordinary Author!!!! Thanks for keeping my attention it's been a while since I was sucked in so thoroughly!!!! 😁
This was another excellent serial by Stephanie Bond. It was nice to have the cameos by Jack and Coop from Body Movers. I so enjoyed Virginia and her journey of ups and downs. I look forward to reading more of her serials in the future.
