Author Shannon Redmon knocks it out of the water with this fast-paced, suspense-filled page-turner. The opening scene thrusts you into the action as two attackers come after Skye Anderson. Will she survive? Were Detective Jake Reed’s suspicions true? The accident that killed her husband may not have been an accident. Who would want to kill him, and why were they after her?
Detective Jake Reed appears on the scene and finds Skye in danger. He's determined to protect her and her little girl while protecting his heart. He'd left her in the hands of his best friend years ago. She deserved better than him. But he'd returned to reopen the case and find the truth of his friend's murder. Will Jake locate the killer before it's too late?
I recommend this book to anyone, especially those who love inspirational romantic suspense.

I really enjoyed Secrets Left Behind. This was my first time reading anything written by Shannon Redmon, and she did not disappoint me. The action started right on the first page and kept going with this faced paced book. A renewed romance with a past love, friends who weren't friends after all, and plenty of suspense. Well worth the read.

Secrets Left Behind is Shannon Redmon’s second Love Inspired Suspense novel. This books has it all…action, suspense, romance, and faith, all rolled up into a big mystery.
We are back in Crystal Creek, North Carolina, with Skye Anderson. Her best friend Carli was the subject of Shannon’s first book, Cave of Secrets.
Skye is a widow who, along with their young daughter Romi, was in the car with Randy, her police detective husband, when he was killed in a tragic car accident. Or was it? Skye’s first love, and Randy’s best friend, Jake Reed, has transferred from the Charlotte PD to fill Randy’s position. He’s also convinced his friend was murdered, and he gave an oath to Randy to protect Skye and Romi as his own if anything were to happen to Randy.
Now with Skye beginning to remember a couple details about that tragic night, someone is after her to keep her memories locked away…for good.
Jake is tasked with protecting the woman he has loved for a lifetime, but can he open himself up enough to share what drove him away - and her to Randy - years before? Can Jake also open his heart to forgive his father for past transgressions? Can Skye overcome the hurt Jake burdened her with when he left, forgive him, and possibly even open her heart back up to love again? The Lord sure works in a lot of hearts in this book!
This is a stand-alone story that you can read without reading book one, but why would you want to? If you haven’t read Cave of Secrets, grab that AND Secrets Left Behind. Settle in for a secret or two…you’ll be glad you did!

This had me hanging on by my fingernails as the suspense was high octane with an adorable little girl named Romi to soften it up. I was able to figure out who was behind it all but not the why so that kept my attention throughout to learn the full story. I loved how the characters grew and especially how Jake found his self worth. Finding and giving forgiveness brings inner peace and allows us to move on.
I won a copy of this book. The honest review and opinions are my own and were not required.

I'm not one to write a review and give away the story. But I will tell you this. Shannon knows how to write a story that grabs your attention from start to finish. She takes you on a journey of suspense, mystery and romance. Getting to know Skye and Jake personally is a fascinating journey. As you get to know Jake you see what has happened to him to make him the man he is. There are scars revealed and heartache. With Skye her journey is a little different but you will get to know her as well thru her pain and loss. It's a book that brings back old friends to help old friends with certain problems. As the story develops it fascinating to see what ties together everything. Its fast pace and interesting. You will find this an interesting read to the end. J

Shannon Redmon’s 2nd novel takes place again in Crystal Creek, North Carolina. This time we have widowed postal worker Skye Anderson and her daughter Romi. It’s been a year since her husband’s death. She finally found a letter addressed to her from her husband and he tells her to find an old children’s book of their daughter’s. He’s hidden a microchip in the back of it. That’s when her world is literally rocked. Detective Jake Reed has recently transferred to Crystal Creek police department filling in his dead best friend’s position. Before Skye and Randy there was Jake and Skye. He’s back now working to try and figure out who killed his best friend. He doesn’t think it was accident like it was ruled. He made a promise to protect Skye and Romi if something happened to Randy. He’s holding onto his promise. As he and Skye search for answers to her husband’s death, Jake has to protect her from her would be killers. Hopefully, they find the answers and put away whoever is after Skye and her daughter.

This was an amazing story. I really enjoyed the whodunnit. It was action packed. It seemed like Skye couldn’t get a break. I think she had the hospital on speed dial. LOL. It was cleverly written and definitely a page turner with a few surprises thrown in. I loved how Jake was able to forgiven and ask forgiveness. He became the man God had designed him to be. Skye was able to put her past hurts behind her and love the man she had always loved deep down. The ending was perfect. I hope you take the time to read it. I think you will really enjoy it if you like stories set in the blue ridge mountains, a little romance, a really interesting plot, and a lot of suspense. It’s my favorite type of book and this one did not disappoint.

I was given a copy to read, but all opinions are my own.

Secrets Left Behind is a well written and well balanced story. Skye Anderson finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer. Detective Jake Reed is determined to protect her and track down the killer. This is a fast paced, edge of your seat Christian Romantic Suspense story with unexpected twists. Once I started reading, I didn’t want to stop. Secrets Left Behind is a great book and I highly recommend it.

Shannon Redmon has done it again with her second book, Secrets Left Behind. It's a home run in my opinion. This was heart pounding suspense from the get go. Skye, her husband and daughter were in an accident and he died. She only has vague memories. Now Skye and her daughter find themselves in danger because of something her policeman husband discovered. As her memories become clearer she realizes things are not what she supposed. This was no accident. And now her old love, Jake, has returned and is taking a second look into the case and at her. The suspense ramps, the sparks fly and the plot takes unexpected twists and turns, all to the delight of this reader. Characters from her first book, Cave of Secrets, are intertwined as well and that's always fun to see. However, you can read this as a stand alone and not feel you've missed anything. Though I hope you will read that one as well. She really does a good job developing characters, also in creating relatable life and belief struggles. A story that is entertaining, leaves one feeling good and gives pause to think is a winner. I was given a complimentary copy by the author. The opinions expressed are entirely my own

Secrets Left Behind by Shannon Redmon is an action-packed romantic suspense novel. But even though the life-threatening danger pulses through every scene of this story, I thought it was balanced well with getting to know the characters and their backstories. So many suspense books focus on the action and leave out depth, but I didn’t feel that was the case in Secrets Left Behind. In fact, the author covers some heavy topics, like the effects of an abusive childhood, all while moving the characters forward and keeping the threat of danger near the surface. And the second-chance romance between Skye and Jake is a sweet, slow burn. I loved how Skye’s daughter helped bring them together.
Overall, I felt like this was an entertaining, well-rounded romantic suspense.
I was given a copy of this title by the author with no expectations of a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I love a great story and this story is fantastic. So many secrets, so many feelings that need to be processed. The life that Skye Anderson thought was her life now seems to be a deception. Jake Reed comes on the scene and gives Skye so much information about her deceased husband. So much information that Skye isn't sure that was her husband or her life. Such a fantastic story. One you won't to miss! And it's a fast read just right for a beach day or an afternoon on the porch.

I enjoy this book and the action! It kept me at the edge of my seat! I will say the main male character, Jake Reed, needs therapy! He had all this time away from his home town and someone he cares about but didn't try to better himself!? He was getting on my nerves. I wanted to jump into the book, to smack some sense into him.

A Detective's death, once ruled an accident, actually turns out to be much more. Now someone is trying to kill his wife. With the help of an ex-boyfriend, who is also a detective, she must now try to stay alive while the killer is being hunted. It starts with lots of action and keeps it up till the last page. Lots of suspense and great characters. It includes elements of faith, forgiveness and second chances. A very fast paced easy read. I definitely recommend reading this. #Shannonredmon #secretsleftbehind

DNF @ 22 pgs. TWENTY-TWO. Pages.
And I'll tell you why.

The story opens with Skye in the library, looking for a book she donated, because there's a microchip hidden in it by her now-deceased husband. Suddenly, the lights go out (GASP!), the doors lock (EEK!!), and she's shut up in the library with KILLERS!!!!! Um... where are the librarians...?! Nobody ever tells us where the librarians are...

Some big, beefy guy grabs her hair, she sees a red skull tattoo on his arm, he drags her across the library (why...?), giving her time to fish out her pepper spray and douse him. She runs, he tells the others to 'kill her'... and WHY WOULDN'T HE HAVE DONE THAT WHEN HE HAD HER, if he wanted her dead? Why drag her around, first? It. Makes. No. Sense.

So she hides under this cubicle thing and calls 911, until she doesn't hide (!?!?!?!??!) and gets chased around the library by the baddies, buying stOOpid time for the cops to show up, with bullets a'flyin' and RedSkull telling his friend to get ready for 'Hawk's' contingency...

Meanwhile, Jake is new to the copshop in Nowhere, NC. He's taking his bestie's old job, now that bestie is killed in a shady car accident with knife wounds that don't match up in the witness report and the coroner report. ((ooooooooh.)) Hrm, gotta try to figure that out, but... 911 call!! And it's bestie's wife - and his ex-true-love-now-widowed-with-a-child!!! Get to the library - stat!

... she bursts out the front library doors (!!), lands at the feet of her ex-true-love-come-home and when he asks if she knows who would want to kill her, she says, "Not really."

EHHHHHHHH!!! The correct answer would be "a big beefy man with a red skull tattoo on his arm who is apparently working with someone who goes by the name 'Hawk'. But noooo.... she doesn't tell him that. Because she's an absolute idiot who does NOT deserve a book written about her.

The sergeant says, "Dang, they had a way out - the back door!" ((NO. Shit...!!! Why would we cover BOTH exits?!?!?!)) And then, "Well, they're gone." ((Who *WRITES* this crap?!!)) To which Skye says, "They're gone, I'm fine, I'm going home, they won't come after me." Because WHY - again - wouldn't they come after her?? They CAME AFTER HER THE FIRST TIME, MORON!!!! Gah, she's absolutely worthless, ridiculous, and a waste of good air.

It's okay, though, because her car blows up BEFORE she gets to it. Why would they detonate a car she's not in, yet...?? Because you KNOW they're watching, hello, in order to detonate it. It couldn't be on a timer - they don't even know if she'd be taken off by ambulance for the head wound she got in the in-library fight. NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE!!!!!! It's so badly written, I want to bang my head against the nearest wall...

... so *NOW* she's in the ambulance, and she's having a flashback of the night her husband died in the car she and her kid and her man were in... and she relives the moment of impact, the man coming to the car with a knife... and a red skull on his arm...

WHY DIDN'T SHE TELL THE POLICE about the man who slit her husband's neck in the witness report??!?!?! And WHY didn't she put 2+2 together when she saw the red skull on the library thug's arm??? This whole thing is so stupid, I can't read another page of it.

It's badly written, full of more holes than swiss cheese, and so outrageous there aren't WORDS for it.

NO. Just no. Do better. A LOT better. And soon.
Or stop where you are and take up reading, instead.

Author Shannon Redmon as done it again. This story "Secrets Left Behind" is a story that will have you on a rollercoaster of adventure. The way she combines all the elements of Suspense, mystery, danger, action-packed, Love, Hope and God. You can't go wrong I love it. You'll think you know who is the "mystery" shadowed man, when there is another lead that makes you think otherwise.

From the first page you are on the go with Skye trying to safe yourself from the person that took her husband away from his family. And the only help she can run to is the one that left her years before. But he is the one that holds the key to her heart and the only one that can keep her safe, her and her daughter. He has vowed and promised to protect them, his heart has vowed to always love her. But even though Jake reopened his best friends "accident" report, he doesn't want to reopen his heart again to her. Past pains, past actions, bring this action packed story to a sweet rekindle romance of hope for a future. And the only thing you can do is follow your heart and the answer is right there in front of you.

I received a ARC copy from the publisher/author. All the comment here is my own.
