How do you put a price on your life?

After laying witness to the cold-blooded murder of my entire family, I did what any rational person would do... I ran.

Our name, power, and vast wealth meant nothing now. I was on the run, filled with the fear of always looking over my shoulder, wondering when they would come to collect my life.

The luxury of refusing any form of help was ripped away by the reality that I was facing a danger I couldn’t handle alone. It was that fear that led me to them.

The men of Gilded Graves.

It forced me to swallow my pride to face them... Despite knowing that if they offered me protection, it wouldn’t be free of cost.

I just didn’t know that cost would be me.

Sheltered is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. Their Possession series contains four books in total - Sheltered being the first. Features multiple triggers including violence.

This book is the epitome of the “Insta-lust” trope.

Not my favorite.

It’s not bad but it went downhill toward the middle, the guys all blend together, don’t know if I make sense but yeah I can’t care less about the following books.

Also, I love a good cliffhanger but this one was felt very abrupt.

M. Sinclair books have a comfort type vibe for me. I will always grab them on release day and usually finish it shortly thereafter. I honestly think she rewrites a lot of each character into the next new series. It’s a familiarity I enjoy almost every time.

India was introduced in the Shadows of Wildberry Lane series, which I absolutely loved, so I was interested in her story. With that said, I'm a bit bummed with how quickly we're tossed into this story. Some of her feelings make sense, particularly the brothers, but a few of the others are waaayyy insta. Out of nowhere.

I'll still stick with this series because Sinclair creates some of the best RHs. No doubt, these guys are OTT, possessive and protective and it'll likely be glorious.

Complex characters and a plot with plenty of twists and turns combine to make a book that keeps you interested from the beginning until the very end. India sees her entire family murdered and has to turn to old friends for protection. But their protection comes at a cost and results in something she couldn't have anticipated. I can't wait to see what happens next.

This book is intriguing from beginning to end. India is a very mysterious FMC. Her life is turned upside down when her family is murdered. Now she must turn to for help in some old friends. Things get more interesting and the plot twits and turns keeping you guessing as to what will happen next.

amazing !

Straight out the gate with India running in terror. This book had me looking over my shoulder the suspense was great. Then running into her past with Lawson and Eugene. Being in danger and searching for the culprits who unalived her family. This series is going to be awesome and I can’t wait to see what is next for India and the men who are protecting her.

For the most part, I liked this. The Male Leads? Absolutely devastating holy cow. 10/10 would drool through my napkin in front of them. The FL? She’s interesting. I’m curious and she has enough things going for her in both character and nature that I can be tickled piqued by her.

What I had issues with tho, was the (and this is honestly the best way I can describe it rn) lazy writing.

Yeah. I said it.

Now, there are a couple of reasons I think this- and mind you- I know it’s silly- and I know this is a completely fictional piece of romance literature- but honestly, these details irked me and it gave off too much of an armor plot motive to it.

Example 1. Trying to call her messy (not in a bad way) ex with random quarters she found digging through the trash next to a pay phone…

Firstly, a pay phone in this day and age? Unicorns. Second, I myself have never dug through trash (ok, maybe once or twice) in the bad part of town, in a park, next to a phone booth, but I can almost ASSURE myself like I had gone and checked it myself- I don’t believe for a second people are chucking quarters out near the waste receptacles. 💀

Example 2. The random drunk dude DROPPING HIS COAT… IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIDEWALK… WHILE IT IS RAINING OUTSIDE… and again, IN THE BAD PART OF TOWN.

In what world?? I’m not saying you don’t find random pieces of clothing in sketch neighborhoods but some guy dropping his coat bc he’s “hot” and (i don’t remember) his wife “Marleen” was a hen pecking ball buster who had the nerve to buy him the accursed thing in the first place.

Example 3. The staff barging in uninvited while the main characters are all chatting about important top secret revenge stuff just in time to hear and insert themselves into planning a party.

That was a big ol’ red alert in my mind bc the FL just turns around like it’s no big deal, smiles and walks out of the room to help saying that she loves the stuff without missing a beat despite how tightly keyed all of these characters have been from the start about privacy and secrecy (not from themselves but from everyone else not them).

Example 4. The Kiss with Renzo despite not having sorted her sht out with the brothers yet.

Example 5. Easily transitioning from wanting vengeance on those who killed her family to not being mad at the Hit Squad who did it anymore bc they weren’t “really at fault” since they weren’t the mastermind. 😑🤨

There were a lot of small things that all just sorted started adding up to bug me. And despite it having 24 chapters, the novel is only a little more than 200 pages, so the meat, the details, the flavor, wasn’t really being conveyed well. Hence, the reason for my opinion this was lazily written.

I’m not saying this isn’t good, it’s a fast read and there are things (and men) who have me more than willing to keep me on board but I’m still pretty bummed that, for as good as I thought this was despite all its flaws I can only imagine how much BETTER it would have been if maybe this had been longer or if those strange, unique, inconsistency’s had been tackled and erased.

PS: please tell me I want the only one to think that the cliffy at the end was totally cringe. *proceeds to make yaking noises* I’m actually totally cool with cliffys, I like the adrenaline they pump me with and endless eagerness and curiosity if done right but this one? *throws up a little in mouth* Have I mentioned the word lazy yet??

M. Sinclair is an author that I know I'm going to enjoy.
I've gotten to where I don't even read the synopsis of her books, I just immediately dive in.
When she announced this book, I was super stoked for it.
It seemed interesting and I was ready to consume it quickly.

When I got the notification, it had released, I jumped right to Kindle to download.

India Lexington's world falls apart the night her entire family is murdered before her.
Her life was spared due to her sister-in-law's quick thinking, as well as India knowing she needed to run.
After running, only one name comes to mind to help her.
But the way she left things with him three years ago has her pausing to open those wounds once more.
However, she knows he, along with his brother, are her best course of action for survival.
And revenge.
India knows that calling upon her childhood friends will result in a cost she might not be quite willing to pay, but the choice has been taken out of her hands.
That's how she finds herself within the Gilded Graves society with not one, but six attractive males among her.

Yes, you read that right.
Six members of her harem.
Lawson Hearst-former childhood best friend and love interest
Eugene Heart- former childhood friend and also love interest
Callum Reyes-leader of their Gilded Graves group and bossy man
Silas Huntington- psychotic secretive member
Bishop Vos- broody member but has known India for a while, though she has forgotten him
Renzo Bianchi- criminal mastermind and head of mafia family
These men have all fallen under the spell India doesn't seem to know she has woven, though it becomes apparent quickly that each of them harbors feelings for her.
It is sweet to see these feelings play out and will definitely have you invested in what the future holds for each of them.

This is a contemporary slow born secret society reverse harem romance.
Trigger warning-violence is involved.
I very much enjoyed this book.

While India is naive in some ways, she knows that the world has a rough reality, and she can't bury her head in the sand.
She wants to prove to these men that she is just as capable of them yet knows her limitations.
Knows that she must ask for help to fulfill her ultimate goal.
I loved the relationship aspect of them.
Especially India and the Hearst brothers.
Their connection dates back years and though they hadn't been around one another in years, they picked it up as if time had never passed.
The others are new to India but have learned much about her from the Hearst brothers so feel as though they know her.
It will make things interesting in the future.

Overall, I fantastic read and one I will definitely recommend.
Ending is a major cliffhanger.
And it seems we will have to wait a bit for book two (though I'm hoping we will get an earlier release date that what the preorder says).
Go give it a read.
You will not be disappointed.

Why did you read this book?
I am in the mood for RH romances and this one had a good rating.

What format did you read this book in?
Read it as an ebook on Kindle.

Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment?
I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.

What genres do you think this book belongs to?
Contemporary, Crime, Horror, Mystery, Romance, Suspense

What was your favorite part in the book? SPOILERS
When Silas basically tells the MC the truth of them spying on her for several years. I like it when love interests are honest and just throw the truth out there.

Who would you suggest this book to?
Anyone who likes insta-love, and RH revenge stories.

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book? SPOILERS
I tried to get into this book since it has all the elements, I tended to like in a RH story, (obsessive/ possessive men, an intelligent heroine, lots of sexy love interests) but unfortunately, I couldn’t get into the book. It’s a revenge story, after the MC family is killed, she asks for help from the men she abandoned in the past. There were a few issues I had with the book. If the MC had a group of ladies that would help her, why didn’t she contact them instead of the guys she has a complicated past with? I get that the brothers had a relationship with the MC in the past so they didn’t have to flesh out their relationship in the present. But the other guys seem to instantly fall for her and there was no relationship development (which is fine in eroticas because I am not expecting very much, but this story was not an erotica.) Overall, I think this story had potential but could have used a few more beta readers to get some of the story plots edited.

Are there any cliché scenes or concepts?
The guys insta-love the MC upon meeting her.

Love interests, how many of them are there and what gender?
There are six love interests, all males.
Lawson- The nice Hearst brother and MC childhood sweetheart.
Eugene- The mean Hearst brother and MC childhood sweetheart.
Bishop- Forgotten childhood friend. An A-hole.
Calllum- Southern cowboy, the leader.
Silas- Psycho killer.
Renzo- Not part of the main group and a mob boss.

Any trigger warnings?

I am 1000% obsessed with this contemporary reverse harem. The suspenseful and unique storyline, the amazing complex characters, and the slow-burn romance is *chefs kiss* top tier. Readers that loved M. Sinclair’s Wildberry Lane trilogy will devour this first installment of Their Possession series and beg for more. I have already pre-ordered the second book in the series and cannot wait!

India Lexington witnesses the brutal slaughter of her entire family as she narrowly escapes the same fate. On the run and desperately needing protection, she calls a childhood friend she hasn’t spoken to in 3 years. India is not naive and knows asking Lawson and Eugene Hearst will be a costly agreement, one that may require a flesh and blood sacrifice, but she has no other choice. The members of the Gilded Graves society will not only offer her protection from those that want to kill her but also help her seek revenge.

“Because you owe us for protection. You have a debt to pay, and we never forget to collect.”

Reconnecting with the Hearst brothers proves more challenging than India expected. She is drawn to both men and the attraction has not faded. All three childhood friends may have changed over the years but the emotional bonds are still cemented in their hearts. The web of emotions tangles even further when India finds herself attracted to their team leader; Callum Reyes, the psychotic member; Silas Hungtingon, the broody one; Bishop Vos, and the criminal mastermind; Renzo Bianchi. What is a girl to do when six attractive, powerful, wealthy, and dangerous men all want her? ***SWOON***!

Tropes: Contemporary romance, reverse harem, secret societies, slow-burn romance
Heat: 2/5

This book was a great intro into a new series!

It starts off literally with a bang and our FMC, India Lexington is running for her life after the slaughter of her family.

In the middle of the night, with no one to help, she calls the last men on earth that might be her only hope; the ones she ran away from 3 yrs ago and hasn't looked back since. The Hearst Brothers. Lawson and Eugene. She doesn't know what to expect, after all - they are apart of the Gilded Graves now and nothing is just up to them anymore. When she meets Callum Reyes, Silas Huntington and Bishop, she is overcome with emotion she doesnt understand. None of them can be good men, even she knows this with her special background. Does it stop her from lusting after each of them. Does their crazy call to hers?

Then when notorious crime boss, Renzo Bianchi is added to the mix... India is completely at a loss of what to do! *Trying* to put her emotions and feelings aside, only one thing is important right now - The revenge she needs for her family.

"Revenge is a game for the bloodthirsty and the insane."

With secret societies and dangerous men, will India be able to overcome it all and get her revenge she craves for her family? Will she be able to go back to her old life when this is all over?

I enjoyed this slow burn a lot! I was sad when it came to an abrupt end and I am looking forward to the next book! Im hoping for more answers for India and more steam. ;-) The author did a great job with little back stories here and there of the characters and I cant wait for it all to unfold.

*Overall 4/5
*Heat? 2/5
*Slowww Burn
*MFMMMMM
*Multiple first person POV
*Ends on abrupt cliffhanger

If you’ve read the Shadows of Wildberry Lane trilogy, then you may already be familiar with the name India Lexington. She makes an appearance in Dahlia’s story, and she definitely stands out!

Their Possession is India’s story, and Sheltered is the beginning.

I adore India. She’s almost Dahlia’s opposite; she is aware of her strengths and is confident in her worth. It’s the people she trusts most who get to see her soft and vulnerable side, and those are the people who could do her the most harm.

India has been through a horrible tragedy at the start of this book, and I like that our first real look at her is in this defining moment of her life. I was immediately sympathetic and rooting for her.

It looks as though India’s romantic group will be on the larger side (5+ men), and the dynamics are complex and full of drama. While some of the men are friendly, and two are brothers, not all of them are readily accepted into India’s life. On the other side, not all of them have accepted their feelings for India or the idea that she may be able to love multiple people in a romantic relationship.

The spice is a slower burn, which works very well with the story and what India is dealing with. The mysteries are nice and twisty with a dash of WTF sprinkled in. I’m very excited to see where things go next, and I feel compelled to reread Dahlia’s story, as it’s one of my favorites 💜

Sheltered

India Lexington’s world came crashing down around her in one single night. The very foundations of her true self were pushed to the very limits when she ran away from a nightmare she is desperately trying to escape.

But in running out the door without her purse, phone or shoes or coat in a cold rainstorm she has virtually stranded herself in a dark park with no idea of where she can run for safety or who she can call for a rescue. Until she finally comes to the conclusion that there is only one name she knows that will stop at nothing to find her, protect her. But does she truly dare to call him? Knowing that his help won’t come cheaply or without strings attached? Does she have a choice? With men with guns chasing her?

I truly enjoyed this book so much! India is a very complex and creative personality. She has untold depth in her character and her very sense of self. She knows what she is willing to do to get the answers she needs, along with the revenge that she craves…no matter the personal cost to herself.

The men she runs to are willing to help, but they have a certain obligation to others and a certain reputation that must be guarded, so what they ask India for is both a necessity and a protection for all of them…but will any of them make it out of this arrangement unscathed?

Follow along India’s journey to a darker, murkier world as she finds the courage to get dirty, and
uncover secrets that should never see the light of day!

M. Sinclair is incredibly talented and I’ve loved all of her stories so I knew this was gonna be good. Contemporary is not M. Sinclair’s normal milieu so the concept was definitely intriguing. What we got was so much more than I could have ever imagined. Sheltered is a tale filled with death, violence, second chances, and a lot of gorgeous men. India is an interesting character. I enjoyed her. When she’s first introduced to her, India comes across as soft, sweet and vulnerable. As we spend more time with her, We start to get glimpses of hidden strengths, hints of surprising adventures, and unexpected talents. I have a feeling the more we learn about India, the more I’m going to like her and her spunk. I can’t wait to watch her wrap her guys around her little finger.

Now, the guys are all different, and they each bring a little something different to the relationship. We haven’t learned a lot about them, their pasts, and their talents, but they’re going to be a handful. I can’t wait for them to run up against India and bow down.

As always, M. Sinclair writes a phenomenal story. There is a huge mystery here, so many questions I want answers to. Thankfully, we’ve only just started the story. There’s lots of time to find all the puzzle pieces and start putting them together. I can’t wait to find out what’s happening next.

Strap yourself in, this is going to be a wickedly fun ride.

Perfectly Possessive!
Honestly M.Sinclair is the absolute queen of possessive obsessive men 😍
India witnesses the ruthless culling of her family and only just escapes, knowing she needs time and protection to deal she calls on the people she knows can help, but at what cost?!?!
The call brings her back in touch with a past she fled, the Hearst brother! Who are like chalk and cheese, Eugene is fire and ice all in one, whereas Lawson is calm and collected… these brothers are part of a wider team including Callum the domineering cowboy, Silas the challenging sociopath, and Bishop the broody a$£hat, yet each of them all connect with India individually and might be harbouring secrets of how they actually connect with her 😲 oh and let’s not forget the suave and sweet mafia boss Renzo!! Although no ‘action’ in this one you can really feel the 🔥🔥🔥 between them all and the basis for a true unit 🥰 they sure are bringing out their protective instincts at her life being in danger 😍
But India wants revenge on her family and is willing to pay the cost….but she has secrets of her own, and she might just be up for working with these Guilded Graves boys to achieve that 😏
Interesting to see what they uncovered right in that last chapter 😬
I couldn’t put this down I read it in one sitting in one evening!!

Absolutely Captivating!

I am utterly speechless! This is M Sinclair’s second series in her contemporary universe, and it starts out strong!

I was intrigued by India immediately when we got a brief glimpse of her in The Wildberry Lane series—and her story is every bet as gripping as I’d hope it would be. India is a unique heroine—not overly physically strong—but she’s got one unparalleled brain! I love that she has physical limitations. I love that she has weaknesses. I love that she allows these men to care for her. I appreciate that she isn’t your typical hardcore heroine with a giant chip on her shoulder.

What’s truly unique about this series though, is that the men come from different walks of life. While they are all acquainted, they don’t have that “brotherhood” that a lot of book series do. India is the draw, that catalyst that ends up turning them into a group. It’s very well done!

The cliffhanger at the end is the absolute best kind as well! It’s just enough to keep you grasping for more, but without making you want to toss your kindle out a window. Absolutely spectacular!

The pacing is spectacular, you’ll never want to put it down, and the writing is even better. This is absolutely not one to miss! Truly a phenomenal read, and I will absolutely be ordering the next one!

She won't rest until she gets the answers.... ❤🔥

"I’d lost my entire family. My entire life. The only people that had seemed to care when I’d all but disappeared off the map three years ago—or so I’d thought. The only people who had been there for me all my life, even if there were things I kept from them. I’d lost them, and it had nearly buried me alive."

India Lexington- who we met in the Wildberry Lane trilogy (though you don't need to have read it to enjoy this) takes us on a journey in the first of her new series. Having witnessed the brutal murder of her entire family, she's determined to learn who was behind it. On the run and with secrets of her own, the adventure begins. Welcome to the tale filled with action, intrigue, secrets galore, shadowy organizations, deception, alpha males... and one fierce , intelligent and dazzling female at the center of all the chaos 😉. The past comes calling when she needs help...but it may end up becoming a blessing in disguise. The author does a great job of world building and introducing up us to the characters in this first book, but leaving us with questions. Be warned, there is indeed a cliffhanger... this reader is looking forward to seeing what adventures are in store for India and her guys! I highly recommend this action packed read. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Sheltered, the first book in M. Sinclair’s Their Possession series was absolutely phenomenal!!! Be prepared for this story and all the beloved characters to grab you and not let you go till the very end!! M. Sinclair truly knows how to create fantastic worlds with characters that grab your heart, and this one is no exception.

This story drops you right into the action with India running for her life and reaching out to the only ones that she feels like can help her—and let me just say that the Hearst brothers and the rest of the crew are absolute perfection and did NOT disappoint!!! The storyline was beautifully done and the characters are so diverse there’s literally someone for everyone—and the intrigue and twists will keep you entertained until the very end.

India is absolutely intriguing and all her men are equally enthralling making this one of my favorite reads this year—I just need more of their world asap!!! Especially because of that ending!!! Overall this book has it all—drama, intrigue, mysteries, fierce alpha protective males, a heroine that can hold her own and lots of steamy heat!!! And while this story is definitely a slow burn, trust me the heat is there and I have a feeling the holdup with One thing I am build up will be worth it! Callum I’m looking at you ;)

From the moment I'd entered the car I'd been in an exhilarated state. Unable to sleep, unable to f* eat - unable to do anything that didn't involve her.

Sheltered is the first contemporary book I've read by this author, but I loved it just as much as her paranormal work. This first book in the "Their Possession" series is filled with questions, and with every question that's answered, two or three more seem to pop up. There is so much left to discover, about India, all her men, the connections between them and about what happened to India's family.

Even though India was raised in a privileged household, she's quite down-to-earth and I really liked her personality. The character building in this first book is like giving you five table spoons of water while you're extremely thirsty; it improves the agony at first, and then you just want and need more! I really can't pick favorites among the men; they all have something that makes them intriguing and I honestly just want more of all of them. While Sheltered is slow burn, the tension is high, and I can only imagine how that will erupt in the next book (or the one after that).

I highly suggest reading Sheltered; it's an intriguing start to a new series, and I can't wait to find out more in the next book.

I was so excited when I saw that India was getting her own series. After meeting her in the Wildberry Lane trilogy, I definitely wanted to learn how she become "to be" with her guys. India's story is so complex, she also has a tragic storyline, and I really can't wait for the next books.

After India Lexington witnessed the horrific slaughter of her family while barely escaping with her life. She is on the run, and looks for protection in the form of a friend from her childhood that she hasn't spoken to in years. She knows that whatever they're going to be asking for in agreement to protect her it'll be a "high price." Left with no other choice she contacts Lawson and Eugene Hearst, we eventually learn exactly how they want India to pay for their protection.

India is possibly in over her head when she realizes that she's still attracted to both of her childhood friends, as well as their team. Of 4 incredibly good looking guys. It's a slow burn, but the storyline is top notch, and the angst, and everything going on. You'll be on the edge of your seat, because as soon as we get some questions answered at least 3 more pop up. These guys are dangerous, wealthy, yummy *wink*, and so much more.

"Because you owe us for protection. You have a debt to pay, and we never forget to collect.”

This book was a little lighter than what I usually read. With that being said, it was still a good start for a series.
The book starts off with an attention grabber that shows India on the run after watching her families brutal murder. Out of pure desperation for help she decides to call one of two people that she never expected to see again. Having only watched the Hearst brothers from afar for 3 years, she never expected Lawson to answer her call for protection. What's more she definitely didn't expect to meet and also feel a pull towards their housemates, Callum , Silas, Bishop, and Renzo.
6 guys who are all equally protective and determined to help her in her question for answers regarding what happened to her family. This book is definitely a slow burn so at this point, we have only gotten a small taste of the groups growing connection. But what we have gotten has been great and definitely makes this book a must read. Really looking forward to book 2 after the way that this book left us hanging.

India and her men were previously introduced in the Wildberry Lane Series.

India's world explodes in a single night. Her family has been murdered and the only ones she can turn to are the two men she left three years before because she couldn't choose between them.

India is a bit of a mystery. She seems to be a bit reclusive in nature based on the hints given about where she has been and how she feels about being around others. She suddenly finds herself in a situation where not only is she attracted to the two men she left, but their team and a notorious crime boss.

The men have a wide range of personalities and they all want her. Not sure that Silas isn't my favorite right now. He has some psychotic tendencies.

I look forward to seeing where their story is heading. This book ends up leaving you wondering what they discovered in their search. It looks like this is going to be another great series.

I can’t tell you how in love with this book I am. Binge worthy to say the least, I couldn’t help but stay up all night because I needed to read just one more chapter. The struggle is real. With death, deception, secret societies, back room deals, and so much more going on this book keeps rushing heading into the next plot issue. Fast paced in a good way, it was fun watching the group bond with one another, and grow as a team. Whether you love contemporary RH romances or are a lover of omegaverse you will love this story. The way they come together, their personalities individually and as a whole, it is written in omegaverse style, but it’s not. I kept checking the synopsis several times because it has the total alphahole hotness, all the steam, and pack mentality. Yes, there is a cliffhanger but it isn’t flip the table and throw the kindle angst. Which can be a relief to those of us who suffer from those Clifford and just want something where you can go “Alright. I can totally handle that ending for now. Next book please.”

Oh My! This story starts out with action and draws you in from the very beginning. India is a stunning FMC. She is tough and strong even if nervous or scared. She has a fantastic personality that is felt throughout the story. I love all the guys that she is having to interact with. They all of strong personalities that mesh with India very well. They all have a unique talent that gives the group a great feel to it. The story as with all of M.Sinclair’s writing is magnificent. She always draws you in and keeps you glued to the story. Well, this one is no different. It is extremely well written and developed. It has amazing descriptions that allows you to easily picture what the scenes look like and how the may feel. You journey alongside India as she tries to complete her mission. This is because you feel like you are part of the story. This book ends in a cliffhanger and I absolutely can’t wait to see what happens next. A definite must read!

Do yourself a favor read this book it will not disappoint. I could not put his book down and ended up finishing it in one sitting. This first book introduces us to India an upper class heiress and as the book unfolds we find out she is not what she seems she has secrets and after what happened to her family she has enemy’s and doesn’t know who she can trust. This leaves her turning to men she she will have to decide to trust to find out the answers to her questions. We meet brothers Lawson and Eugene along with their team Callum, Silas, Bishop and Renzo. This book is really shaping up to be a favorite of mine off this first book. There is secrets, childhood crushes, missed connections, second chances, murder mystery and of course that freaking cliff hanger. I strangely live to read these books to see how they leave us hanging and this book did not disappoint. I want to know what they found and cannot wait till the second book
